Youth guns are actually an excellent idea, they're a small calibre and are a perfect introduction to gun safety in a relatively safe way. I've never met a private dealer that would sell a gun to an actual kid, they weren't idiots, they knew you weren't kids.

.22. .410, BB etc. Are great youth guns. I started on a full sized .22 when I was 3-4 years old. And a full sized 12 guage Remington when I was 4 (not a youth gun, I wasn't standing afterwards). I just saw a little girl like 6 shooting an AR. I'd say that is the way to go to gain muscle memory and to get the feel of the weight, full sized guns.

@@jackweber3660 Ahuh, so kids having guns is messed up but teenagers driving cars is A-OK? Both have the capability to kill. The difference between someone who is a safe gun/car user and one who is dangerous is practice and being taught correctly early. I'd much rather know that every kid knows how to safely handle a firearm rather than them finding out later in life and hurting themselves or others. Even if they never end up owning a firearm the chances are they'll encounter one eventually, having that little bit of muscle memory and experience is invaluable.

Long story short: my buddy wasnt taught ever (even though his dad had a bunch of guns his whole life) and he ended up shooting himself in the leg with a 38 special hollow point, at 22-23 years old, playing with his dad's guns... Big trouble for him and his dad bc he had illegal mags and such (he called the cops/ambulance bc he got scared). Now rewind to me: shooting almost right out of diapers, had access to my dads trigger locks from about 7-8 and on until the shotgun was behind my door at 11-12. Never had an accident, only mishandled it when I was really young a couple of times when I was learning, and for sure got smacked/disciplined for it. Let a kid shoot and teach him gun saftey to the point where he gets sick of guns, and you'll most likely never have a problem/have to worry. That is the right way to do it. If you're going to let your kids shoot, really let them shoot, don't teach them a little and then let them be super curious, that is wrong imo and you shouldn't even bother teaching them gun saftey. Might as well just take them fishing. Imo.

Walmart sells guns like any big box store where they are locked behind a counter and a check is needed to buy one. Why is it crazy if Walmart sells groceries as well? I've been to a gun shop that was also a range and had a diner attached to it. Its not like every store is a gun shop in America, most gun shops are usually gun shops by themselves or also pawn shops/ranges. Before 1968, any store could sell guns without any license, Sears and Abercrombie & Fitch sold guns before 1968.
