Top 5 Tips before Buying a Jumper Cable for your car:
Why you need a Jumper Cable.
1. Wire Gauge
 It refers how thick is the copper wires inside
 Lower the number thicker the cable
 Better to have heavy duty cables as it flows more current
 Have a cable not less than 8 gauge.
2. Jumper Cable Insulation:
 Heavy insulation is good for heavier cables
 Heavier cables would reduce heat generated through the cables during jump start process
 Outer Layer of these cables protect against Fire Redundant, Oil, and chemical resistant etc
 Inner layer is for the insulation. Its made of a non-conductive material.
 Over Heating may lead to the melting of these cables.
3. Length of the cables:
 Depends on what size of the car you own, along with how tight is your parking area.
 At time you may not be able to place the cars nose to nose, in such conditions a good length of the cable would be of grace.
4. Heavy Duty Clamps:
 Alligator clips will transmit electricity much better. Heavy duty cables would mostly have a heavy duty clamps as well. This would help connection between the terminals, which reduces the chance of sparking.
 Prolonged Sparking may cause fire and other serious issues to the expensive parts of the cars.
5. Storage Bag
 Protect it from getting in touch with sharp object, and getting damaged.
Conclusion.
Never buy a cheap jumper cable. Looks at all the above points and warranty on these cables. Good if there is a UL certification. "UL is a world leader in product safety testing and certification.

Had been using Cable 8 Gauge, 16 Feet, works well with Swift Diesel and petrol. Works well for almost all Sedans and Hatchback. With SUV's it may struggle.

it depends on your application. 4 gauge wire is an all-rounder. 10 gauge can only be used for bikes and charging car batteries but not for jump-starting the car batteries

Your Made in China comment is not needed and ignorant. The correct term is cheap cable vs expensive cable, both of which are Made in China. You get what you pay for.
