That Care Bear 🐻 was NOT at all what the 80’s stuffies looked like. The huge head and odd looking eyes weren’t how they made the 80’s versions. I personally prefer the old school ones but perhaps the 2020 ones were designed like the newer beanie babies with bigger heads and eyes to appeal to children today? Loved the video!

Care Bears was released in 1981 as pictures on American Greetings greeting cards and was introduced as plush bears in 1983, then in a cartoon show followed shortly after along with a few movies. @@hmsheahan My nurse that took care of me when I was a baby collected care bare plushies with her daughter back in the 80's at the hight of the Care Bear craze. Then she gave me her Care Bear collection when I was 2 1/2 or 3. Does anyone ever feel really confused about Gwen and Tim’s view shift because all of the Ballinger children (colleens, Rachel, and chris) except Trent have at one point referenced their really conservative home but their parents don’t seem that conservative now. I know their religious but it seems like a shift must have occurred.

  • @allyb6314

My parents were also very conservative and like hers when I was growing up...we did not have cable, went to church every sunday and I was very sheltered. When I was in high school (I am the youngest) they no longer forced us to go to church and also shifted to less conservative. I feel like they had more access to more information and they grew as people. In the 90's and early 2000"s they only really talked to people in person or saw a very limited view set on tv...around 2005-2008 the internet and whatnot spread more ideas around and people saw that there were different ways of life and people became less sheltered and more informed.

The Viewmaster is close to 100 years old, being patented in the early 1930’s, but there were STEREOSCOPES long before that! They were extremely popular as it was the only way certain people could see exotic animals and far away lands (or ‘French Postcards’ how scandalous!) I remember my grandparents had an old Viewmaster with Hopalong Cassidy and Buck Rogers cassettes from the 40’s… it was glorious.

As a 2003 baby, I feel like I recognize way more toys from the 80s and 90s than my peers. I mean as a Nintendo freak, the NES knockoff made my day haha Also, Colleen, the blowing thing was also done with later Nintendo systems, like the GameBoy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, and the DS, DSi, and 3DS family of systems. Even today, I'll be playing my DS and it wont read the cartridge, and I'll take it out, blow on it, blow on the slot and then put it back in and voila! It works.
