“I’ve been a bit of a womble”. Love it! 😂 Pink wellies rock! I hate having to thin out and discard seedlings. Hurts my heart too. Setting up the infrastructure is overwhelming. It’s a lot of work and feels like it’s little reward. Better times are coming.

It is hard work! Gardening is not the easy option so we totally understand the feelings you have. Take your time. Do a little bit at a time. Be kind to each other. Forget us - your audience are with you whatever happens. We watch and have been there ourselves. We know ❤❤❤❤

Knock the tubes in as far as u can and don’t have the diameter of the unground tube to much bigger than the arch or it will wobble around. I have wired 2 arches together to make pumpkin arch x

You have done a hell of a lot with the allotment... so I think you are quite right, next season will seem a lot less draining as the main set up will be done... it should just be maintenance and planting/harvesting. I think you're both doing a stellar job of it all. I can recommend building a bench out of pallets... I made one for sitting near my pond. Just a quick little note too... cucumbers tend to spread so keep that in mind with where you are planting (and you can always leave any non pricked out seeds in their pots as "spares" in case anything bad happens to the others... rather than throwing them straight out.)

funnily enough the 'spare' cucumbers are the only ones that survived the repotting! thank you 🧡

You can use gravel over the dirt/wet soil, and then big stones like the ones you have in the greenhouse.

you want more ideas for builds? , why not try building a terrace in the boggy corner of the plot with a step up ( same method as you'd build a decking area ) you could make it into a nice seating area for sitting enjoying all the hard work you've done come summertime, could also make some long planters to sit on it too and fill with something like strawberries etc , or even try your hand at making a bench to go on there too if you're feeling ambitious, would certainly make use of the space as how it is currently wouldn't be feasible to grow much direct

Why don’t you build yourselves a multi bay compost bin with roof and water collection system? I made a 3 bay compost bin this winter. I used pallets and just used whatever timber I could find. Mines working a treat and it’s producing some nice free compost

I have a tinman in my garden about the same size as your scarecrow. Just need a cowardly lion for a set. I've always heard coconut coir pronounced as 'core' also. I don't think you sounded miserable at all. My kitchen is full of seedlings also. Your yard looks large enough for the greenhouse and a garden. Is that not yours, or is it not allowed?

Crikey me and you are like long lost twins - although I'm 62 lol - I've been potting on (Zinnias and Sunflowers) buy my compost from Lidl (some of it) and I got one of those scarecrows from Home Bargains last year he's dangling on a trellis which my honeysuckle is climbing up -one good thing about wet ground is it makes digging easier - I put 12" stakes in the ground in my border where I planted bulbs mainly to check for disturbance by squirrels but it helps me too to see where they are 🧑‍🌾 the potting table is really good 🌿 I'm growing chillis for the first time I've potted them on into 4" pots but what size will they go into which I can leave them in permanently? 🌶️ Love from a wet and windy Whitby 🩷

Haha amazing! I’m honestly not sure about the chillies, last year we had plug plants that we potted into about 2l pots, but we’re going to use builders buckets this year for pepper and tomato’s as they’re much cheaper! That’s the plan anyway. Happy gardening 👩‍🌾🧡
