    Those engines make the prettiest purr to my ears. My grandfather had an H - it was the workhorse around his dairy farm when I was growing up. Loved that tractor. He fabricated and retrofitted a bucket and hydraulic lift system from scratch.

    Great job my man but never, ever start a tractor unless you are seated and definitely not standing in front of the rear axle, peace.

    ne farm I helped out on had a pair of them. The memory of riding a full hay wagon of bailed hay was good. They have a heck of a road gear. lol If it had a 3 point hitch and a wide front end it would sell fast. On the trip plow , they worked well as long as you don't snag a tree root. Not having hydraulics can be a bite. A light coat of grease on the mull boards is a good thing for outside storage. Great video.

    Pretty good video. Farmalls are really popular and easy to fix. You forgot the last step in setting the timing in the video. Set the mag just before it is on #1 and with the bolts loose roll it till it snaps then tighten it down. You have it pretty close. The plow hitch is supposed to be like that. If you hit a root or rock when plowing that will trip and unhook from tractor so it doesn’t break anything.

    Andrew, I'm a little confused. I see that it has, the H, has IHC cultivator brackets on the axles but it has a John Deere quick attach cultivator front mount brackets which has been cut to mount on the H. It has a super H live hydraulic pump with the high pressure line going to a pressure relief valve assembly that dumps take into the belly pump. I wonder just at what pressure the relief open?

    There is just no sound like a Farmall. Growing up I ran everything from a H to a 1086 and there's just a smoothness to that motor that can't be replicated. Unlike a Ford 3 cylinder diesel that sounds like a washing machine full of loose change lol

    You should have drained the oil and took the oil pan off and changed the oil filter first before any start up after it had been sitting for a long time , because the oil filter will break down over time and clog up your oil vains then the motor will start knocking and run a bearing .

  • @thesmallenginekid

    @thesmallenginekid

    Your right that is best practice when reviving an old engine. It had very good oil pressure when I started it, and oil level was where it should be so not concerned about water contamination.

    It just made me cringe a bit when you hit the battery posts up into the gas tank... This was a bad design and the later models moved them to under the seat. That's why someone I'm sure made the new bracket for it to get it safer. Would hate to see you blow yourself up. 😁 The plows hitch is set up for auto releasing it from the tractor when you hit a big rock. You have to adjust those handles on it to pull over the rock. Then readjust and plow away till the next big rock unhooks you.

    That tractor had a distributor when I bought it. I put on the magneto. And I trimmed the pin off the hand crank to put a pipe wrench on it. Can easily reinstall pin and use hand crank.
