Good score. A little clean up, a couple small fixes, and it'll work like a new one. With regards to the blades, only have to sharpen the top of the blade, like a lawn mower blade. Clean up the bottom of the edge, but don't bring the apex any higher. They just cut better that way, and they'll last longer. Not a big deal, but just for future reference.

use the breaker bar for loosening tight bolts - not the wrench . dont overfill the gear box - has a tendency to make the seals leak. those blades are worn out, plus usually dont get sharpened. You'll catch on to all this - just takes experience - keep at it and you'll do great

Boy $100.00 you can’t go wrong!! You might have to fabricate a whole new bracket for the gear box because any movement it’s just going to loosen up again and if you plan on keeping it you might want to rebuild the aftermarket channel iron they bogger welded on there I think there was about 40 seconds left on the warranty so they bogger welded the horse shoe and then put it back in service! Your reaction to the horse shoe was hilarious by the way!😂I was going to suggest that you look into buying a cylinder of MAP gas it’s a little more than propane but it heats much more and you can still use your tips and take a look at Craig’s list and see if you can find an old stick welder they are getting cheap like if you find one with cables and a stinger you might find one for $75 a 180 amp would be lots but a 250 amp is all the better and if you find an AC/DC that’s a nice feature to have and don’t worry if you don’t know how to weld your smart you can teach yourself on scrap iron and get yourself a auto darkening helmet and your in business! Not surprised that your getting views they are fun to watch oh and I see you have gotten a Dearborn Ferguson 2 bottom plow with all the colters they work very good so you’re operation is growing Keep on trucking 😀🇨🇦

Thanks for the comment as always! So I tightened up those bolts and a few hours later they came loose again so yes next step is to try and somehow weld the gearbox to the frame hopefully. I will be looking into getting some map gas and my own welder. You spotted the plow haha yes it’s a Dearborn 2 furrow which actually came with the jubilee, I want to make a video on it I’m just waiting for a plow day or something to come up in my area, also don’t know much about the plow or plows in general so I’ll have to look into that. But it does look like it’s in decent shape.

Do not grind the bottom.. Free up your blade, oil it, and tighten it back up.

Old gray tractors often did not have a two-stage clutch. That is, the power take off rotates as well as the axle if it is in gear. When you press the clutch, the one slows at the same speed as the other. Try to avoid running it through a garage door. In my case I parked my Ferguson on top of a boulder by the time I got the thing slowed down. An inexpensive over-running clutch attaches just ahead of the mower's pto shaft, and takes care of the problem.

Haha yes I have heard stories of people running their tractors into and through things. I do actually have a over running clutch which I will use if I do some big mowing

New Sub! Love to see honest people doing honest work to bring the old things back to life. That mower was run Hard but with the work you do with it, it'll last a lifetime. Try and get an inexpensive MIG welder - it will up your metalworking/fixit game to a whole new level! Keep up the great work!

Don't grind the bottom, you also need both blades to be balanced. If the bolts are rusted, just grind off the bolt head and punch it out. Replace with stainless steel ones. Cheers.

Also need to loosen the slip clutch be sure it’s not rusted frozen solid, If you hit something hard it must slip or you could tear up your tractor pto shaft

If you wonder why most bush hogs are curved at the back corners you will find out when you are following a fence and come to a corner. I had a square Ford bush hog and got in a corner and almost got into the wire trying to get out.

I have actually done this before lol getting stuck up against fence lines is an easy thing to do and kinda difficult to get out of

I'm running a Ferguson TO 20 tractor and I want to get a brush hog. What is your HP rating and what's the width of your mower?

A Ferguson to 20 will have no problem running a 6 foot mower. My grandpa runs his tea 20 with a 6 foot. My jubilee is around 30hp and I’m running a 6 foot mower. Hope this helped you!

It would be best going forward if you had something to replace the two of you lifting and lowering. Too much chance of getting hurt. Have been there and done that also, I enjoyed your video.

IMPORTANT - IMPORTANT - IMPORTANT I have operated countless hours and had many experiences with the Ford 8N using several implements. The bush-hog is obviously the most dangerous. While with general improvements and maintenance, that bush-hog you bought will give you great service. My issues fall in two categories: #1. Tractor/Bush-Hog combination. The Ford 8N has a "non-live PTO". What does that mean ? It means when you connect the bush-hog, recognize that it spins a very heavy mass at high speed thereby generating enormous energy that can't be stopped like a flail mower. When you are mowing and push in the clutch, the energy remains in effect and is directly connected to the engines crankshaft. That means regardless if you apply the clutch, the power-train will continue until the energy is dissipated. Simply stated ... if you're mowing and come to a fence or building, the energy stored in the blades will push the tractor (and you) through the fence or building. REMEDY: Go to Tractor Supply and buy (not expensive) a "PTO over-running clutch adapter". This allows the bush-hog blades to continue spinning with no effect on the power-train. It can save your life. And yes ... when you let out the clutch the power-train and blades will become recoupled and continue mowing. #2. Blade Sharpening: Find a mentor that you trust to advise you. For me ... I would remove the blades and note the gash deviations for depth while holding the blades together. Draw a line from the blade tip back to the bevel to include the gash depth on both blades (treating them as one blade). Grind the edged portion flat (the same amount and same angle on both blades) to a point where the gashes are gone. When the blades match in shape, apply a grind to provide an edge, making sure to have the beveled edge the same on both blades. What you're doing here is creating a matched mass on both sides. Because the center hub is normally concentric, having the blades match in mass will give you the best chance of a balanced turning mass. Safe operating my friend.

I’m not at all concerned about using the mower without an over running clutch I have operated these old tractors from a young age mainly Fergusons also without over running clutches. I just know when I need to stop. I also do own an over running clutch but I have had bad experience with them disintegrating the roll pin there for coming loose and hitting the pto shaft housing. I would recommend an over running clutch for anyone new to these machines and with this setup. Personally I would never use one again

You need to buy a boom pole for that tractor, lifting stuff You wind up hurting that beautiful girls back and you will be sorry for ever, Nice old cutter,
