Don't push the dents out. Cut the damage aluminum out and replace it with new aluminum. Just like they did on cleetus' boat. The aluminum will stretch not return back to the original shape like sheet metal. You are a great welder so you can replace the panels and grind it down so it looks like nothing was replaced.

Pro tip on heating aluminum to bend it, use a black sharpie and scribble the area you want to bend. Hit it with a torch, and when the sharpie fades away, you've reached annealing temperature. Works every time!

Great to see Jose
You can use the 2 post lift to hoist small boats like that with the grab rails. The trailer you want, is a dual jetki trailer. That will get you the stability you need without being too long. Width is not really an issue when you have a monster truck towing it. With the speaker boxes, you don't want the bottom to be complete. You will end up with water trapped in there.
Bottoms on the speaker boxes will hold water
Just needs a roll cage like Wilkey's then you can take on any river sami safely. They look like so much fun.🤘
Annealing aluminum, also known as stress relieving, is a heat treatment process that resets the crystalline structure of aluminum and makes it easier to shape. The process involves heating aluminum to a specific temperature between 570°F and 770°F for a set amount of time, which depends on the size of the piece and the composition of the alloy. The aluminum then loses some structural strength and becomes more ductile and workable. After annealing, the aluminum is cooled using a variety of methods, such as air cooling or quenching in solutions. The cooling period can also affect the material's properties, so annealing is usually performed in a controlled environment with specialized equipment. Annealing can be performed using an oxygen/acetylene torch. One method is to lightly scribble a permanent marker over the aluminum, especially along the edges. Then, heat the aluminum with the torch until the marker burns off, which indicates that the metal has reached the right temperature for annealing. If the marker turns brown and crystalline, it means that the aluminum has been overheated. Annealing can be repeated multiple times to soften the aluminum and achieve the desired shape.
@mi16pim
Ай бұрын
He should have applied way more heat to a larger area
@smithjohn3080
Ай бұрын
This is correct and the aluminum will work harden and "temper" as it's reworked which can lead to the need for reannealing to avoid cracks etc
The rubber end for the PortaPower is your friend with aluminum. Get a second one and run rubber on both sides. Having two people helps, one to hold things inside and one to pump and hammer the outside. I had my mom help me straighten mine out. Tabs under the dash to brace against will be your friend, you’ll probably dent it again.

Even some wood, set as the focus point and hit it.
You should really make a “ down the rabbit hole we go” shirt!
Still hyped about you joining the boating life. I make pound in anchors. Take an old shock. Drill holes in it to releave any pressure and cook the seals from around the shaft. Weld angle iron to the end of the threaded shaft with some heavy duty washers/spacers on the end of the shock and top of the angle iron for those to impact each other. Weld on some loops to tie/hook rope to. Longer the shock the better. Pound into the sand 6-10 feet from the water line and it is not going anywhere. I usually use 24 inches of 2" angle iron.
Use an air Chisel with a rounded flat rounded head. You can start at one end of the damage from the inside and just run down the dent. It will take a bit to get it but it will work. After you get it out use a buck bar on the outside to flatten and shape the surface.
Do with it what you will. Matt from Demo Ranch had a retired Military Humvee (all aluminum), and had to run a ground kit to several points on the vehicle to make sure that everything grounds properly. Since you are already running power lines, it may be worth it to run ground lines as well, or a ground distribution block up front.
Putting wood blocks behind the porta power helps distribute the force. If you have a 4x4 or anything thicker to put behind it it’ll increase you push power and minimize adjacent panel movement.
brother to say that I get excited when I see an upload from ya would be a freaking understatement!
The thing with boat trailers is getting the transom to be even with the back of the trailer so all the weight is properly supported by the trailers frame. Plus it saves you problems with loading and unloading, especially if there's a current.
Did you see the other animal in the picture when you showed us the baby gator? lol
You can put a 2x4 on the dent to hit and swing in a much better position. For a more water friendly cable run, you can go to truck parts store and buy cable with many pairs of wires up to 14g. If your connector is going to need 8 wires in the loom, run a 8pair, sealed in rubber insulation. Super clean. Your only water intrusion would be at the connectors.
Also Taylor the best thing I've done to my boat that was the total game changer was to get seats that had little air shocks on them they make several types but I got a good deal on basis with air shocks in them which allowed me to still use my nice BRP seats that was always my girlfriends biggest complaint that it was so rough after putting those in she has no problem riding in it anymore.
Love the jetboat videos! Whenever you are exited about a project the videos are wonderful
Hey man love all the content. I was a submariner and it is important to stow for sea esp in something that gets thrown around. Please don’t rely on Velcro to hold stuff like tools or things that could cause injury if you hit something. Take the time weld on tabs to make a strap or something else

Mmmmm, Titanium exhaust. It's like the wind through the trees, AT THE RACE TRACK!!!!!! IMO, the best sounding car on KZread. I'm excited for that one, sir.
Headed up to Canada to pick up my Headwater kit, will be building it this winter, stay tuned !!
Stud welder, or weld your own clips to the outside to pull from. Maybe wiggle wire and a claw if you can find aluminum wiggle wire. Then use a slide hammer and/or a pulling tower. Pulling tower can be built fairly easily. Go further down the rabbit hole and install some anchor pots in the shop. All else fails, cut it out and start fresh.
Weld tabs on the outside of the dent and use a slide hammer to pull out the dent.
That's it new event starting right now , T-Ray tandeming Jet-boat series!
I highly suggest some sound deadener and poly-fil inside the speaker pods, helps a lot with resonance
Porta-power is a thing I always told myself I don't need but then I bought one to fix a steel truck bumper and now I use it all the damn time, especially the little spreader jaws.
You should get some sort of suction cup tow lights for the rear of the trailer that you can stick on the boat while it's on it. Since the boat is so much longer than the trailer looks like the lights are almost completely obscured from a reasonable distance and height.
I would either cut out the dent or I would pull the dent. brace the boat and weld some tabs into the dents. Use a come-along to pull them out in a controlled manner.
Pick up a big propane weed burner for when you start to fix the dents it heats large area easy 😮.
Just got back from beating my mini at the river and my top recommendation is a T-Ray mini jet video 🤌🏻 Obligatory like for jet boat content 👍🏻
The riders are smiling while our boy is in serious mode 😂
Solution for the cooler, put 2 eye loop bolts into the engine cover/seats so you can use a ratchet strap to secure the cooler on the floor of the boat in-between the seats.
If u add a couple of eyes on the swim platform in the corners. The cooler can ride back there when u have people with you.
I'm kinda curious when we'll be seeing more of the no prep drag car? I like the boat content and everything, I'm just curious.
Having done tonnes of work with porta powers over the years in those exact situations You will get great results using a timber brace to push from. Large timber base maybe 1 foot square in against the other side will allow full pressure to be applied without stretching the other side of your hull. Like wise stretching a large area can be done the same you just need a more robust location to push from.
Get you oxy-acetylene torch for heat with a rose bud head. Weld tabs on dents to attach slide hammer to.
I would recommend checking out Hibachi Auto Body in Bradenton. It's a new shop but A+ work, those guys are going places.

A few wood blocks/2x4s/plywood will help brace the portapower and better distribute the load.
Taylor get an air chisel and buy the STECK PANEL SHAPER KIT attachments heat it up and use the air chisel to push out the aluminium dent hope this helps cheers from down under
Think you need them ambient lights out of little ripper in the new boat
you have the boat sitting between the lift arms, and heavy duty lift points forward and aft. just lift the boat with the lift and swap the trailer. you can then set the bunks up correctly with the boat weight suspended by the lift before you finalize anything.
I think I like the boat content because I just don't know anything about them, it's new and interesting. I'd love to see a rotax teardown someday
You may want to consider covering the speaker boxes with heavy padding, if not, injuries will be pending. That boat is sweet.

When you’re trying to do the 360 give it a real hard Scandinavian flick
I'm about the boat content. those things are cool as hell. Thanks for sharing it.
Use multiple blocks of timber to press against with your porta power
push dents out from the outside perimeter first then move towards the center in increments
Instead of the porta-power,maybe an air hammer with a rounded hammer head ? There would definitely be a ton of noise but there wouldn’t need to be a place to brace the porta-power.
"You can't take the Florida outta the boy"
in this case replace the aluminum but also when using a porta power against thinner material, spread the load with another thicker and wider piece of aluminum/steel at the base.
These engines in the jetskis suffer from a bit of blow by, I've just started watching the video so not sure if you have one already but get a catch can for it ! Also in the jetskis the Intercooler suffers from condensation due to the hot/cold difference. So combine this with the blow by they have it ends up with slurry in the intercooler and then the intake manifold. the spark plug tubes in the cylinder head weren't uncommon to see leaking either. There is also a very different process to check engine oil level with the 300s compared to the 260 engine in your last jet boat (even though the engines look very much alike)

You should get a packout snap plate to mount on the floor and get the packout cooler. You could have one for tools under the cooler too. Also I live next to that boat ramp hopefully I'll see you down there one day.
Try a good air hammer and big blocks of wood. Your like me the Lone Ranger fixer.
lol, as I’m watching this I’m eating a can of chef boyardee beefaroni with chopped up pieces of leftover steak that I cooked the night before.
What about welding a bar to the outside of the hull and then use that bar as a slide hammer 🔨
Maybe worth adding a secondary fuse box to the front of the boat. I added one to mine so its just a power and ground from front to rear then all the smaller wires are up front. I run all of the important stuff (engine, bilge pump, and marker lights) straight from the main panel and all the extra lights and radio stuff from the secondary panel. That way if something happens hopefully its isolated and i can make it back to the dock.
For the dents you should try the automotive technic where you hold a block of steel on the opposite side of the dent and smack the inside with a hammer. It’ll push the dent out more evenly and you’ll use less force since you have a solid backing and you won’t have those hammer marks all over it
With you being you, I'm surprised you didn't cut the dent out and do your hammering on the bench. That said, as soon as you started fighting the porta-power, I knew you'd weld a kicker in. lol... This is going to be a fun project.
You need to make sure the boat is not the ground. All grounds have to go back to the battery directly. That aluminum will start to corrode bad.
Having a suede steering wheel a material you're supposed to avoid getting wet on a boat is crazy to me but it looks good
I love you jet boat videos but mannnn I'm ready to see ya get some work done on the rx7
That boat is sick. Looks like a blast. I’m guessing this would not work in the ocean. I’m not sure how it would handle waves and currents.

For the back side of the portapower use a 4x4 as long as possible and if your not pushing 90 degrees cut and nail a Angled chunk of 4x4 as long as there is more outward pressure or something to keep the 4x4 from pushing back it will do wonders
eating a factor meal while watching this 😂
2x4 your best friend with that attachment
Hey Taylor make a bunch of big pdr pads on your 3d printer and get/make a heavy slide hammer sledge then file the pads on and pull that dent from the outside with pdr glue it probably would’ve worked better than a port a power then if you need more pressure use the port a power on the back side too
Hey Taylor would get someking of a Scotch Guard that's for water proofing Suede beleave it or not Van's has a very good waterproofing product for there shoes!! It will keep the Suede from getting soaked then eventually drying out and fall apart..
So idea for the dents, that material may be too thick, but you could try using a slide hammer from the outside instead of a sledge from the inside. As always great video Taylor!
Please like so Taylor can see this you need to put a lot of large wooden boards behind the porta power spreading the load over a large area and protecting the good aluminium do not weld bars in to push off wont hold and will just make more problems also DO NOT anneal the aluminium as some have said it will soften it but then it will always be soft heating a little as your doing in this vid is fine
Acetylene and oxygen. Use the acetylene black smoke on the aluminum then add oxygen to heat it up that way you can pull it without blowing a hole in the aluminum. Hopefully that make sense you can find videos on it. Love the build keep on the jibber jabber!
Man those speaker boxes look like a blown out knee waiting to happen and it would be sick taking the 86 on the togue but It don’t make enough power
The wire brush method is the way to go. We use wire brushes for suede soles on dance shoes to restore them.
Use carpet cleaner or apc on the wheel with a softer brush first
Cut it out, replace with high temper aluminum of same thickness, reweld and blend with the sander...
That's the same 18v Milwaukee adapter I put on my little guy's battery Jeep Wrangler. It took my toddler about 30 minutes to burn the motor out. I'm thankful for Facebook Marketplace. We are in the market for a Corvette or fire truck now, I think. 6v to 18v lithium is straight gas. He loved it

My life jacket "that nobody thinks I have" made me chuckle lol!
a tip to pull aluminium is to drill a hole and put a flat stock plate and pull the dent out with heat, smaller section to weld the hole to
Is it not possible to use a stud welder and a slide hammer to pull those dents out? Or maybe drill a hole in the dent and use a bolt and washer instead of a welded stud? Either way, I think you'd get farther pulling the dents than trying to push them out
