    Loved the video. A couple of things thou. When you buy a car in “as is” condition. You essentially buy it without safety. So it can’t be put on road. It’s quite common to by “as is” for those who like to fix up a car on there own. They then after fixing have to take to a licensed mechanic to get safety check before putting on road. Salt is your enemy when it comes to rust. Which is commonly used to clean roads from ice. Depending on the body of your vehicle, it may pay to get it undercoated with oil just before winter. When it’s time you will see ads all over the place for undercoating. Emissions Tests. There are rules against to much exhaust emissions. If car is older a test is automatically required before you can get it licensed. You can get knew license plates. You just have to pay extra for them Also you can’t use Truck plates on a car or vice versa. You can use personalized plates on either thou. We also have over counter personalized plates. With Star Trek symbol. Or Shriner symbol. Or Firefighter symbol. You get the idea. I can’t speak to Insurance costs for insuring someone from another Country. However, I suspect you are paying to much. You need to find an “Insurance Broker”. They will take your information and contact various Companies and get back to you with a quote. It costs nothing to get the quote. I have lived in Canada all my life and this is first time I have heard of anyone buying car insurance from a bank or financial institution. Did a google search. Got this threebestrated.ca/insurance-agency-in-st-catharines-on

    Hi. I'm new to your vlog. I love your vlog by the way. Just a couples of my inputs regarding All Seasons Tiresband Rusts. All season tires are not recommended for the winter. They are actually three seasons tires, spring, summer and fall. The actually winter tires would have a snowflake ❄️ marked on them. But get trick or scam by some shop selling your all season (3seasons) saying it's okay for the winter. They will not help you get through the heavy snow or the icy roads, you will spin out and might crash. But you're living in southern Ontario, you might get away with it because there's not many snow in the area and the winter is not as harsh as elsewhere Just be careful driving (or don't drive at all) when there's heavy snow in the region. Most Canadians, like myself actually buy separate winter tires. The winter tires are marked with a snowflake ❄️ on them to indicate that they are safe for driving in the snow. All season tires does not have this snowflake. Every season, Canadian we have to switch their tires over from all season to winter back to all season and repeat. It can be costly but it's piece of mind and a good long term investment. The rust in the car is caused by the harsh winter due to the salt building up in the car. It is recommended for older vehicle more than 10 years to have rust proof every year to prevent the rust to preserve the life of your vehicle, it cost about $120- $140 per year (from Krown) to have it rustproofed depending on the size of the vehicle. Its expensive but it a good investment and protect the value of your car. If your car has rust, and if your looking to sell your car the resale value of your car will depreciate greatly and you might not get a buyer. You can a find cheaper rust proof company there like Rust Check, Canadian Tire or at some mechanical shop, but I'm not sure if they will do as good as Krown, I have never tried them. Maybe you can research this. I like the one that I'm using, Krown, as my vehicle is nearly 20 years and has no rust.

    As to why rust is such a problem. The way we have chosen to deal with all the snow and ice is to use salt. Spread salt on all the icy roads the ice melts and you can drive on it safely. Which is great, except all that salt gets all up into your car and eats at all the metal

  • @LouiseWareArmstrong

    I Thought it was something to do with the salt in winter

  • @shawnc7054
    @shawnc70544 жыл бұрын

    Life long Canadian here...definitely recommend that you get winter tires, especially if you are not used to driving on snow and ice. "All season" tires are mediocre at best in winter conditions - they are really best for spring, summer and early fall weather conditions. To help minimize rust on your car, try to wash it frequently to spray off the road salt. There are self-serve car washes all over where you can spray off the salt for about $3. Try to do this on days where the temperature is above 0 degrees to prevent your doors from freezing shut. Insurance rates are high in Ontario in part due to the high rates of insurance fraud. Try to avoid getting any traffic tickets or your rates will increase further. The renewal date for the sticker on the license plate is based on the owner's birthday only. You both don't need to purchase a sticker - only the registered owner. And be mindful that the expiry date is your BFs birthday, NOT the end of the month stated on the sticker. There are additional fees if you let the sticker expire (although there MAY be some extensions due to Covid).

    Louise I have been debating whether to put these instructions here or not. If you feel it’s not helpful please take down. Dealing with Canadian/American police. Specifically being pulled over. Sirens go off in rear view mirror. Immediately pull over to side of road. Immediately place vehicle in park. Immediately turn vehicle off. Immediately roll window down all the way. Immediately place your hands on the steering wheel at 10 and 2. Look at Officer at all times. Do not take hands off steering wheel. If necessary announce without being patronizing what your going to do. Example. “My Insurance is in glove box”. Officer knows you will need to reach into glove box to get papers. Some may say. Acting like criminal. It is my opinion acting like individual who respects the job and dangers that Police face and doing my part to make their job easier and safer

They HAVE to give out tickets every month. Youll notice they're full force at the end of the month to fulfill these quotas. FYI!
