I have reviewed a great many of the high quality premium Nato straps available on the wristwatch market. Like many of you, changing up my watch strap and having a collection of different Nato straps is part of the fun of this hobby. I'm pleased to have the opportunity to show you some really excellent Nato straps from a fellow KZread producer and friend, Adrian from the Bark & Jack channel.

    I will have to check out a Bark & Jack Nato. I have Omega Nato on my Seamaster Diver 300m I also have a PhenomeNato. The PhenomeNato is very close to Omega in quality, I would about 90% as good. The reason the PhenomeNato takes a while to arrive is down to them being made to your order. I live in the UK and it took about 4 weeks.

    The only thing that I don’t like about some of these straps is that the buckle is held in with a spring bar Instead of a solid sewn in buckle like the original British MOD G10 NATO and Phenomenato which is sewn in! I think the whole point on a NATO is to ensure you don’t loose you watch! That being said the B & J straps do look great! Thanks

    Yeah a one piece buckle has its pros, but cons as well. I sometimes change buckled on my straps. I have a Hamilton signed buckle I tend to put on different straps when I wear the Hamilton Watch for example.

    Haven't tried the OEM Omega, but for me, the BarkandJack straps top the game (Barton look cool too). B&J straps have really solid pins and buckles, VAT is included and shipping is fast. Phenomnato feel good, but the buckle and pin are two notches below in quality, the keeper is fixed, you have to add VAT to the $40 price and shipment takes forever.

    Honestly great looking straps. I tried several brands that were also mentioned in your video. But ever since I found CWC watches, who offer their own (which is issued to the UK armed forces) and also the original Phoenix G10 straps, I'll stick with them. So far NOTHING felt and looked like the original Phoenix G10 strap. I don't say it's better ... it's just different.

    Just don’t get it about nato straps. If worn conventionally the bulky side view looks ridiculous . Only look ok if the down under method Is used. The reason for all the extra material is that you don’t loose the watch head if a normal spring bar should break. Well...any straight through strap provides the same security without the hideous and unnecessary bulk.

    I agree that there are many cheaper alternatives out there, but definately not that they are the same quality for half the cost, you get what you pay for is very evident with NATO straps, as with anything else. I work overseas, and it is against reg's for us to wear steel bracelets, so we look for alternatives, I have an alergic reaction to some rubber/plastic straps, so tend use NATO styles daily, and go through straps like I go through any other operational wear that has to put up with dirt, grime, sweat, sea water and other things I wont mention. The cheaper NATO's simply dont last, and thats a fact .... pins, buckles and the straps themselves , absolutely all deteriorate or deform in no time, the only two best brands I've found, over the past 2 yrs, of all of the brands I've used, and now carry in my kit bag as a result of how they hold up, are Eika's Original MN straps and most recently, Bark & Jack NATO's, my go to prior to that was Marine National, but at £60+ a pop, its just over that price point where it needs justifying to pull the trigger, especially as its just for operations.

  • @MarcraM82

    @MarcraM82

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@Parkster63 there are definitely differences in quality between NATO's - i've also owned a lot of them. My point being is his NATO's are overpriced. You can find the same quality of his for a lot cheaper. Id assume his straps are made in China, the same place a lot of the nato straps are made. You are paying excess for the brand name (of which really isn't much of a brand anyway!) . The best strap i've ever worn was the French navy strap - but be mindful i've found it does stretch and loosen a little over time.
