I have RE Village already for my PC, which is way more powerful than my PS5 (5800x and 6900XT) and can display 5120 * 1440 ultrawide, but as soon as I found out this game works 100% on PSVR2 I snatched it off PSN on sale for $20. I don't mind paying again, at least at a discount price, when you can play all the way through in VR. I'd love to see more developers make games with this VR option.
Man I hope this drives the development of some actual full length VR games. I love VR and its such an amazing and immersive experience, but there's so little content to engage with on it.

Yeah, totally agree. So far the best full-length VR experiences I've seen are Lone Echo 1 & 2, Half Life: Alyx, Asgard's Wrath, Skyrim VR, RE7, TWD: Saints & Sinners and I can't really think of anything else besides the few ports like No Man's Sky, Fallout VR and Borderlands 2. That's a pretty lackluster lineup of full-length games for a medium that has been around for more than 5 years now. I mean there are some other good experiences to be had like The Forest, Invisible Hours, Moss, etc, but there really are a VERY limited amount of full size AAA games out there. I have my fingers crossed that Sony will be the ones to change that and help promote VR adoption. I don't see VR becoming fully mainstream until headsets are no larger than a pair of sunglasses though. And by fully mainstream I mean like a solid 20-30% of the population adopting it and purchasing a headset.

I agree somewhat. I can get behind the part where Vr games have been downgraded. However, for what might have been lost in quality. Getting rid of the setup needed for Vr where you have multiple cameras setup and required a huge open space was a big win imo . I still play games like Half Life Alyx, retro arcade Neon, project cars 2, dirt rally etc with a single cable and the quest 2 . I can tell the difference between the portable version and the PC version but the ability to do without the whole setup and also bring VR to others houses outweighs the technical showcase

Resident evil village VR is my favorite by a mile so far. Played the base version but still find a whole new level of tension in the vr version. Graphics are what I expect from an expensive product like PSVR2 and look great, controls are smooth, inventory is well thought out as you have to actually open your jacket to pull out the flashlight inside, and the combat actually feels like VR combat and lets you interact with enemies in new ways. I was in love as soon as i just pointed my flashlight up into the trees of the dark woods and saw snow falling down and the light fading up into the branches of the trees that seemed to go on forever. We all know how tense resident evil can be at first on a tv, in a dark room, alone, and with a headset but WOW.

TY for the review, I actually got to try it out for about 4 hours and it's pretty cool compared to my PSVR1. Gran Turismo 7 was phenomenal, you become one with the car you are driving. Also did NMS and as soon as I started the intro ,it was like whoa- this is just gorgeous, the planets were so close it felt like I could touch them and the experience with the PSVR2 is way more immersive for the player. In NMS you get to open up the cockpit of your ship, certain motions will have you doing certain things. I also wear glasses and had no issue at all and my prescriotion is pretty high, pretty much blind when I take them off. The only thing stopping me at the moment is the $819.00 price Canadian. I just can't justify it yet until, like you stated- we'll have to see what new games are slated for release in the future. Tx again Sir.
First VR system for me, preordered it. Cannot wait to play some RE8 and GT7. Also grabbed some anti-motion sickness stuff like a patch, a wrist band, and some Dramamine.

VR still might have some development and waiting ahead of it, but my experiences with it showed me that it absolutely is an experience that has to be a big part of our future tech-wise, one way or another. There's just no way of getting that sort of an experience, it is indeed unique. Could it be better? Yes, and it will be, and it will need to be before it's reaching its full audience and potential.

Thanks for the review, thorough as always! Now that the headset is out to the public, many people (myself included) have issues with the controllers not registering key presses or tracking. Specifically in Horizon but also in other games. There's a bunch of complaints about this on Reddit and I'm hoping this can be fixed with a firmware update.
Really looking forward to eventually getting this, had the pre-order going but had to cancel due to a major car repair. Seems like they hit most things on the nail though, and great to see a reliable review as always. The big games like resident evil village and GT 7 seem like they will be fun and hopefully, this is the start of a big venture for sony so we keep getting good games and support!
Love your videos, and I've never purchased a VR system, but this new PSVR2 really has my attention. PS has really stepped up with their new console, and I would imagine their new VR will take the lead in virtual competence.
Can you please say something about cinematic mode? Is it good ti play regular games? Thanks for the video!
I think it's priced just right. It has features only premium PCVR headsets offer
Honestly excited about this. As long as they keep coming out with good first party games to support it, I think it'll do well compared to other units.
I was wondering how playing normal non-vr games would work out. Having VRR for PSVR 2 would've been awesome. But, the ability to play 120hz games on this is still great to hear. Here's hoping that Sony can get Half-Life: Alyx on there sooner than later. I've also read that some devs are working to port og PSVR games over to PSVR 2.

Potentially worth getting if one already has a quest 2? I'm just curious is Playstations catalog is enough to warrant a switch. Plus I get pretty bad motion sickness on my quest, and if PSVR2 has settings to help alleviate that, that may be a selling point
Easiest pre order I've made...been playing games a long time and finally ready to jump in to a new experience, still enjoy flat games but they don't hold my attention as much so hopefully this will add to it

I have VR on a PC and the only game that came close to being revolutionary was Half Life Alyx, which wont be on PSVR2. I am very sceptical PSVR2 will be groundbreaking giving how limited the PS5 GPU already is. Sony will need to push out a MASSIVE amount of exclusives that they fund out of their own pockets to make the insane price of the headset (600 Euro in Europe, more than the PS5 and even 20% more than the Series X console just for a VR Headset you need the Console for aswell). Absolutely no one outside of hardcore fans should buy this at that price at release and instead wait 2 years to see how the gaming library for PSVR2 evolves, since you cant use the Headset for PCVR either. Sony made it almost impossible to mod the Headset for PC use apparently.

Can’t wait to get this next week!! I pre ordered 2 weeks ago! 🎉🎉
How is playing flatscreen games with the PSVR2? To what display could you compare the quality when using that mode inside the PSVR2? Is it like looking at a Full HD Screen, blurrier or sharper or something like this?
30 games up till end of March and 100 games in progress .I had the 1st set day 1 so naturally I am getting the new one my experience in games like Resi evil 7 /moss/Astro bot unbelievable gaming experiences and can’t wait to see what Sony teams can offer this new headset . Can’t wait for Switchback /Resi evil 8
After owning the first PSVR and comparing to the quest 2, wireless is a true game changer, despite the lower spec power. We convinced about 5 of our friends to get the quest 2, but I doubt I’ll be able to do the same for PSVR2. Multiplayer with friends makes the VR experience so much better. I don’t see that happening with PSVR2 for me
Really like what they have done with this headset! Super interested to try it out and compare to meta quest 2
Gt7, Fanatec and Resident Evil. Felt the damage but it was inevitable. Can’t wait to play next week!
How is the motion sickness on this one We had a quest 2 but sent it back as motion sickness was a bit grim
The lack of software for it makes it not worth it for me yet, but it's a really cool piece of hardware. The lack of PC support hurts it a lot for me too.
Thank you for the review. And thanks for talking about the ear buds sound quality. Wonder if one can use Pulse 3D headsets for sound?

Yes, you can use Pulse 3d headset with PSVR2. I have seen PSVR2 test a couple of months ago and seen people using bot of them together with no issues .

Anything with a headphone jack or wireless connection to the PS5.
I own most of their launch lineup already on Quest 2/Steam and MAYBE would double dip on Kayak VR, Zenith and Pistol Whip. I definitely will wait until there’s more first party VR games before I consider purchasing. But if they drop a Google Earth VR clone for PSVR2 I will buy it right now though!
I can't decide if I want this headset yet. I do want it, but I don't think there are enough games I'm interested in yet. For now, I'll probably just stick with my Quest 2 for VR. But I'll definitely be keeping an eye in this one.
Was not planning on getting this, but I am now. Looks awesome.
So I have to put the dongle for my headset in the front of the PS5 because it will go quiet for seconds at a time if I connect the dongle in the back. Does the vr plug into the back? I have the H9 headset so I'm definitely not willing to downgrade to crappy earbuds
Would absolutely love to score this VR headset for the PlayStation 5, the second generation as most would say. I think it's very promising and I only hope it the best.
3D playback in cinema mode? Also what size screen options?
4:17 i want to add that because of the bracelet design instead of setting the controller down you could just pull it up your arm to free up your hand.
If the price wasn’t so steep I’d jump on it for sure!

it's actually a bargain for the tech

Compared to competitors, it's actually a cheap alternative. The only thing holding me back of buying it are games. I need more games or, at the very least, more announcements before jumping into a VR headset that it's exclusive to a closed system like playstation.

Ya if you can look at the psvr1 and what it offered and the price vs the psvr2 bundle it’s not that much more expensive. Take a look at good vr on pc and you can’t touch this experience for under half. Google any vr comparison and the quest 2 is bottom the worst for resolution and graphics.

It's a demo machine, the next one might be worth it. But unless developers get on board, it will never be worth it.

To be fair, my occulus quest 2 has been incredible since it not only lets me game wirelessly but also allows me to access all of my steam games too, for a way cheaper price. The only real upgrades from my quest2 that psvr2 gives me are the graphics, comfort (maybe), and exclusive titles
@5:25 I heard "adult games" and instantly alt-tabbed to the video, LOL :D
I - like - the idea of VR, however... It's the process of actually 'doing' it that I tend to find problems with. Generally, when I play games it's a little sparadic. I'm often doing a multilpul of things at once, so committing solo to playing/doing one single thing, is often a bit of a ask. I think VR is only really viable, if the process itself becomes less obstructive.
Thanks for the very thorough review! Gonna wait to see how this launch goes to decide if I’ll get one.
I don't have a PS5 or a desire to get a PSVR2, but it's good to see they're setting up a bigger foundation for developers to have an audience for VR games going forward.

The problem is that they already set up that foundation on the PS4, and then they moved on from it.

@@captainthunderbolt7541 PSVR 1 was disappointing and limited straight out the bat. Of course they're going to move on from it, were in a New console generation!

@@aussieknuckles It would have been nice if PSVR2 was developed in such a way as to allow PSVR1 to also be compatible with the games. That way the people who bought into PSVR1 don't feel burned.
@aussieknuckles

@@captainthunderbolt7541 they really shouldn't feel burnt as it release many years ago, and as for new purchases of the PSVR1, well there's a ton of games at discounted prices to play. I know what you're saying, but I'm glad Sony always move forward and innovate with their tech. It comes down to the developer, and if they want to port a PSVR 1 game to PSVR 2 with modern controls. To keep the games cross compatible would have ruined the chance of having better controls and tracking, as psvr1 has really outdated movement and tracking.
Great review! I might pick one up later in the year. It'll depend on the games.
GT7 is a system seller for me. Love playing with my Logitech racing wheel. This would complete the setup
For VR, hell gaming in general cost/reward ratio is just staggeringly not worth it anymore. Here in the UK I spent £480 on a console. Games are now £60-£70 a pop. Then you need the monitor/TV to match it. Then monthly subscriptions for any online play etc... The PC world is no better, that's gone loco, utterly batshit...
I realize now that I want a headset to play games wherever I am. I think having VR would just be a bonus. I am going to look into TV glasses now.
Can I play these vr headsets sitting down? The couple of times I've used one I get very bad motion sickness, so I wounder if sitting down while playing would help.
Idk if you’ve played gran Turismo 7 on the PSVR2 as the update isn’t out for another 4 days. But would you be able to tell me if there is ray tracing in the VR version?
Thanks for the review. I look forward to seeing what titles are released for this. GT7 VR sure looks amazing! Fingers crossed to winning your giveaway!
I guess the 'comfort' thing is gonna vary person go person. Interesting hear Karak say he doesnt notice the headset at first but begins to after 2 hours or so. I'm the opposite, at least in my PSVR, in that I feel it when I first start playing, but the longer I play, the less I realise it's on. I can easily play the og psvr for 8 hours plus, no problem. But I'm maybe in a minority. Great review, Karak. Cheers, bud. 👊❤

Suggestion (if you're looking for any): For me it's been nearly a year since I bought my headset and although I dont think it'll replace my flatscreen tv anytime soon it certainly takes up the largest percentage of my gaming time. And I for one would love to see you review your psvr2 to-date: Your thoughts, games you could recommend, features you like/disliked, how it could be better etc. Just a thought 😉
great review and appreciate the editing required!
This is by far the best psvr2 review out there, whether by big or the smaller channels. 👏 instantly subscribed. Bravo!
Agreed 100%. Nice review ACG! Also yea, I can't wait for the future of PSVR2 and what Sony will bring to this device. So far that I've played, I had fun with Horizon CoTM. A bit tiring tho haha

I’m very curious, what are some of the ancillary things you can do, like are you able to watch Netflix via the VR Headset, do it allow you to play PS4, PS5 games native with like a Virtual screen showing say Persona 5 but within the headset?

Anything the PlayStation 5 can do / play / watch the PSVR 2 can do since it is powered by it
Love the review and your work. I'll have to wait for a sale to upgrade. Until then, I'm gonna keep rocking the original psvr.
