In one interview, Craig Ramsey described, that in the 3rd. place game in the Olympics, he was looking at the bench cause key PK player was in the box. Slaf was the only one staring at him. Craig put him in and he created 2 on 1. Thats the player he is.

For me, while I was happy with his hat trick and impress by this year stats, when I see him play it is the level of disruption that he creates either with his reach or lately just with his presence battling in front of the net. Often 1 or 2 player on the other side get completely taken out of play, I mean they are still there with him, but they have no time to get aware of what is occuring elsewhere on the ice.

The one team that made the hugest mistake not taking Patrick Roy is not Ottawa, it's Colombus. They should've signed him the very minute his contract with the Remparts terminated. Had Jarmo done that instead of that Babcock debacle he'd still be a GM, and considered a master one.

You see just this year after his stats improved what the player he is while some people knew him already since 17y that he is the game changer. You put him to whatever the situation he adjusts to be the best. He is the winner. Frankly speaking none of generational players in nhl has this mentality. This is the mentality that will drive you to be best. Although he may not have 99.99% best skills i am sure he will surprise you again. Mark my words. He will be among best 3players in nhl in 3-4y and will become more impactful than any of your generational players. And why? Because he knows how to adapt and win and be best.

People are absolutely insane when it comes to Matheson. This guy is an absolute STUD no freaking question about it. He has that « swagger » that not many players have. Elite skating, great vision. Always has the puck and trying plays, of course he will make turnovers once in a while, which I don’t even see that often. He is a net positive to the team. People saying all he does is turnovers clearly are just repeating something they are oblivious about. I’d bet they either don’t watch the games, or do not understand hockey at all.

Doesn't matter how many points Matheson has. If Lane Hutson plays EXACTLY the same way, he won't reach 50 points because he'll spend half the games being scratched. All to his credit to have gotten those points, but he costs a lot more then he puts in.
