Nop. Pretty easy. The buttons are placed very intuitively and with very few hand positions you can play most of the polkas and waltz from the region.

That produced a lot more sound than I would’ve expected! Since learning more about Polka, I noticed the “sound holes” (a description worthy of Homer Simpson) on Hengel concertinas, also. Thanks for the demo!

Some Piano Accordions have a switch next to the Air Button that separates the Bass Reeds from the Chord Reeds to emulate the sound of a Helicon Button Box when you play the Bass Notes.

THANKS Ted.As piano accordion players, we have always been intrigued by the button box and how it differs from the accordion.Great explanation and follow up with another favorite of ours: Trumpet Echo Polka. (Even though no Mollie there to do the trumpet and keyboard at the same time) We were looking forward to your next video tonight, so thank you!Greg & Ruth Swanson Maplewood MN

"Trompeten Echo" is the German derived name of the Slovenian song titled "Na Golici" originaly by Gorenjski Kvintet but popularised by Ansamble of brothers Avsenik, one of which wrote the song for the Gorenjski Kvintet.

Thanks Ted. You move the bellows so smoothly it's hard to imagine that in and out create different notes. Is it a matter of phrasing in the music as the chords change?
