Al and Alex Meixner - Button Box Stylings [VINTAGE]
Музыка
This video was produced in 1997 with my father Al Meixner and I performing in a variety of musical styles with our diatonic button accordions. It’s fun to take a look back to enjoy some of our duets and solos and the approach to how we taught or interpreted the American Slovenian style, European Slovenian style, Austrian volksmusik and an amalgamation of non-traditional styles for the Steirische style accordions.

Musica Tejana!!! Bien, bien amigo!
Thank you for sharing this amazing set of melodies! Great stuff. Polkas are an important part of our norteño music culture, you probably know that. They are also very important in TexMex music.
Alex, I really have to say this is the finest button box video on KZread. A concise history of the Button box, plus some good entertainment! Great video

Sitting here in Schwabenland listening to this beautiful music...absolutely beautiful and educational! Thank you so much for posting this gem Alex. I've got a little Hohner Liliput that I am restoring while listening to this... Though a Club model, the music you and your Pop are playing is very motivational. I am ready to learn!

Thanks for the kind words-- I've been messing around with a little club accordion at home-- it's a unique challenge to adapt the different diatonic styles... Hope to hear your restored accordion! I love teaching and learning-- been doing a lot of that via zoom!
Len & I both enjoyed this. It was so informative and something I'll refer back to with my button box studies. A wonderful duo.

The best!
Interesting video Alex, a pleasure to watch. Given that your father pronounced some titles in Slovenian so well, what is your ancestry?

My father's family is full blooded Burgenlander Austrian. (My mother's family is full blooded Calabrese Italian). He studied all of the Slavic cultures deeply in his years in the Duquesne University Tamburitzans and was a stickler for correct pronunciation.
Hi Alex!! What is the original title of "the Mark polka" in Slovenian? Very nice video, greetings from Barcelona!!
