You have a good memory of the year it came out for your age at 7. I was in Malaysia when it came out in 1972. There were also several versions sung by others too esp. October Cherries a Singaporean band. Good memories.

@@Dani-py5mg, if this version is the Australian version, in English, the version I'm used to could be the American version, also in English. Part of the lyrics say, "You're as bright as a night full of moon. Butterfly, you have fled much to soon. I know that you have wings. I know you wish to fly. Please don't go. Oh please don't say goodbye." In "my" version, Butterfly is leaving. In this Australian version, the man is leaving Butterfly. I found "my" version on youtube, after I found this version.
