a good friend of my dads was sleeping in a motel in the 60s when someone broke into his room and tried to shoot him. he grabbed the side of the mattress and pulled it up and wrapped it over himself. The dude fired 6 shots into the mattress and the matress stopped 5 of them and one of them ended up embedding itself next to his aorta. Hes had the valve replaced twice now and is still kicking in his 80s
