I'm definitely putting in a shelf in the back cabinet. I also like that he put in the water control switch by the kitchen. Great video showing great mods. Take care, Pat

All the extra storage that the 12 ski has is a really nice feature. They took that away for the 2024 models and move the air conditioner and heater up front and used up that extra storage space. Really a shame in my mind. The 2024 model also comes with a 3,000 lb axle instead of the 2200lb axle that the 10 series uses. That was a really good idea on Braxton Creek because they say it weighs 1600 lb but I'd like to see it on a scales because the one I pulled felt a lot heavier than 1600 lbs. Either way, the heavier axle is a very worth while addition!

I'm a new 12ROK Bushwhacker owner and new to teardrop campers. I'm looking forward to seeing some setups at the Bushwhacker boil in NC this summer.

Sold my two year old 10FB last spring and bought the 12. First observation, Braxton Creek is doing a better job on QC. I got rid of the cheap fridge and the grill. As interesting as the grill was ( now doing duty on my back porch) it was not as flexible as a two burner camp stove which now occupies the same spot. Love the hot water capability, extra storage, I put 100 watts of solar on the roof, may add a100 more, upgraded the charge controller, added an awning. The cool thing about the Bushwhacker is that they have room to modify, and make uniquely yours. Mine rolls loaded right at 2k lbs, behind a 4Runner TRD getting 15MPG if I stay at or below 65mph.

Im with you on this. Although there are some issues that still bug me, I completely agree on the QC. Sounds like solid mods and lots of fun to be had! Im getting the same MPG with the Tacoma, IF I keep under 65....

I have this rig and want to add one thing… the 24 gal fresh water storage this thing has is underneath up front, so be careful when calculating pin weight as this will add to it for sure. Pin weight is 180 lbs dry if i remember correctly.

Great point, the manufacturer actually recommends not droving with water in the tank which is pretty unfortunate, i think most people do it anyway

Smart move switching around the galley pull out! Got you out of the rain.. but also no more walking around it to get to the refrigerator!

Very nice mods Pete! We checked out the Iron Man awnings, saw they were on sale and ordered one for our 12SK. I wondered if you could put in a slide on the front right, that really looks nice.

I’d like some more info on what u mentioned with the 7pin connector and dc charging…I’m using lithium ion also

  • @DIYOutdoorLife

It's a pretty complicated topic to try to answer in a text reply. Look up alternator charging lithium batteries. There's a number of reasons why it is not a good idea to switch to lithium and try to charge through your seven pin directly. You can get a DC to DC charge controller or disconnect the charge altogether. DCDC is not that expensive and pretty easy to install, others just disconnect the one wire that connects the vehicles and you're fine. That option is free and very. With a Google search, you should be able to find why it's not a good idea to do nothing.
