Manufactured by Rec Arms and distributed by NIOA, the Bushmeister BA-X12 led the surge of Turkish-made lever-release and button-release shotguns to hit the Australian market in 2022. Built to a high standard and packed with loads of innovative features, the Bushmeister has a lot to offer Australian shooters looking for a new shotgun, but there are a few things that potential buyers should consider first.
I have personally been shooting my Bushmeister for over a year now, and am a big fan of the system. Watch on to find out why!

Thanks mate! I honestly wasn't super familiar with shotguns before I started doing videos with this one either, but producing videos like this is a good opportunity to learn

Hey mate ended up with one of these absolute blast of fun.. tried some 28g 1250 Winchester rounds, didn't like em st first but after maybe 40 rounds of buck shot i tried them again and shot a box 1250s no worries.. dunno if it loosened up or maybe the heat slacked off the tolerances.. either way 1300fps should have no dramas at all cycling 👍

Thanks for the comment; that's basically my experience too. I've probably run 400-ish heavy rounds through it now and find that the Winchester and Eley 1250s run just fine. I even had some Federal 1180s running reliably, which really surprised me. Got a video of that coming up soon!

Thanks! Honestly, I'm excited about the Tacsoras, and I might have to reach out to Sulun Arms to see if they have a sample handy. I've heard mixed reviews about past models they've brought out, but this one has the right features for the right price.

We must use private couriers in WA, as AusPost aren't approved here for firearms or ammunition. It's pretty normal for guns to cost an extra $400+ here

In the eastern states, where prices are somewhat sensible... Here in WA we have to use private couriers for transport, as AusPost isn't approved for firearms or ammo. It's pretty common for us to have to pay an extra $400+ just for that

Great content! I've been looking for a shotgun for the property with more than either 1 or 2 rounds. Any idea if the Bushmeister is legal in NSW or what category it's in?

Honestly, it depends on so many things. I was shooting my uncle's Adler lever last week and I didn't love it, but he was also uncomfortable and unfamiliar with my Bushmeister. If you buy either one you will become accustomed to it in time, and there are pros and cons to them both. If you were looking at an Adler lever, you have the option of buying additional barrels, including a rifled barrel, you have more choice in aftermarket furniture and accessories, and dealers and gunsmiths are more familiar with them when it comes to servicing and custom work. Another potential consideration might be that if you shoot with other people, it might be easier to get something everyone is more familiar with - whether that be a lever, bolt, or other. All in all though, I am really happy with my Bushmeister. New video on it coming soon!

I am picking mine up tomorrow. I assume it will be the newer version. I am getting the tactical. I am still trying to figure out a way to mount a light. If you have any ideas please share. Cheers mate. :)

Awesome! I'm sure you're going to love it. I'm pretty sure there weren't any of the old pattern made in the tactical configuration, so you're most likely going to get the new pattern with the improved magazine. For mounting lights, there are a couple of potential solutions. You could possibly mount a small one to the optics pic rail using an offset mount, but this may interfere with your sights. I've played with this on mine and it kinda works, but isn't a particularly elegant solution. You could get a cheap barrel clamp and clamp it directly to the barrel, in front of the magazine tube - I've seen this done too, and it would be easier to do to the tactical models due to the lack of sight rib down the barrel. You could also source a magnetic mount, and I know Olight are about to have a big sale, so you could probably get a decent one for cheap. This would allow you to just slap one onto the underside of your barrel without needing to clamp it or screw it down, but if I was chucking magnum buckshot through it from the back of a ute I would never trust that it wouldn't just fall off. However, if you really want something really elegant and purpose-built while also improving the usability of your new gun, you could look at extending the magazine tube and getting a custom magazine clamp made. The new pattern Bushmeisters are apparently much easier to work on when it comes to magazine tubes, and a gunsmith could change the 5-round tube for a 7-9 round fairly easily. This modification would most likely need a barrel clamp to support the new tube, and some dealer/gunsmiths like Beatons will make these to order, often with pic rail milled in. If your gun ends up being the old pattern however, like mine, you could also get a short piece of pic rail drilled and tapped to the aluminium spacer on the end of the magazine tube. I'll be doing this to mine at some point. It beats me why they didn't add a cheap bit of pic rail to the synthetic forends of the Bushmeisters like every other shotgun on the market.

@@blackstumpballistics5361 Thanks so much for all that info you typed. Very kind of you. Yes I was thinking of a small pic rail mounted to the front bottom of the forend. Will have to see spacing when I pick it up. Already have a reddit for the top pic rail and yes not to keen to hand a light of that area as you suggested. Thanks again for the info.

The main point being that you got it in Queensland. In WA we have to use private couriers, because AusPost aren't approved for firearms or ammunition here. They must be more dangerous in WA than everywhere else... Go figure. It is pretty normal for firearms transport to cost an additional $400+ here because of that
