Axor Bushpig XT12 Review Australia

Спорт

I'm no KZreadr, but I've put this video up as a basic review of the Axor Arms Bushpig XT 12gauge since there are no other videos covering it, and people have asked about it.
The videos are amateur, I know, but it is what it is. I hope I've covered the basics for anyone looking for a review and information on the shotgun. I would recommend looking at one.
Cheers and happy shooting!
Edit: for some reason comments were turned off. I didn't do it, so I'm assuming YT did, but I don't know why. If you see comments turned off, please bear with me as I will keep checking. Thanks.

My local dealer told me about this shotty and I watched review upon review about the bushpig and I put my deposit on one yesterday. Appreciate your honesty with your vid as well. I look forward to using this in IPSC ^_^

Cheers for the feedback. As I pointed out a number of times though, I'm no KZreadr, and this is literally the first time I've ever done a video like this. Plus, it was filmed by my 11yr old son on a phone. It is what it is. I understand, and agree, with your input, and thought the same thing several times, but I'm not redoing it. Will work on it for future(?) videos... Cheers.

For a cheaper end shotty, I think it's well built and sturdy. It certainly performs as it should. Glad to hear you're thinking of one too, even though I have no affiliation, it's still a shotty I would recommend. Cheers for the response!

Loved the video, I have been looking at these shotguns and I am thinking of getting one. What do you think of the finish and the cost of them ?

  • @HillsPatrolTD42

    @HillsPatrolTD42

Thanks mate, I appreciate that! Regarding the fit and finish, in my opinion, they are very well put together. the finish is clear and consistent, without any blemishes or marks. The stock and fore-end fit snugly with no visible gaps or misalignment. And you can't beat the price! They are $450 cheaper than the equivalent Templetons, but are in no way a budget shotty. Go have a hold and feel of one, you won't be disappointed! Cheers for the question and comment...

G'day Paul, mate, I unscrewed it and pulled it and the spacer sleeve off, just for a look, but I did not go any further (ie. removing forend, tube, barrel etc). Is there something in particular you wanted to know about the procedure?

@@user-fh6it7et1q yeah, righto mate, thanks for that info. As I say, I haven't fully stripped it yet, but did pull the nut off for a look and then replaced it. It tightened down fine with no issues, but I will bear that in mind! I will do a strip down shortly in light of that information, and I'll see what the result is with mine. Please keep me informed of how yours turns out. Cheers.

Olight odin fit this? Apparently they dont have standard picatinny rails so have to be careful what accessories will fit up. Shouldered the 28 inch model and did not like the sight picture but 20 inch might feel better. Like the fit and quality of the Templeton 2000 Tactical but Axor is better price point. Thanks for review.

  • @HillsPatrolTD42

G'day mate. To be honest, I hadn't heard about the Bushpig not having standard pic rails, and I haven't (well, HADN'T) actually bolted anything to it yet. So in response to your question, I did just that, and can confirm that I have bolted a Vortex Offset Mount, MDT Premier rings, and a ZeroTech Thrive HD Reflex Sight to the Pig, on both the upper rail, and the fore-end rail, and have no issues whatsoever. All 3 systems bolt up tightly with no slack or play or wobble. Hope that covers your query? Regarding the Templeton, yes, they are a better fit and finish, but the price difference makes that to be expected. Is the difference worth the price? I'm not sure to be honest, I think the fit and finish on the Bushpig is punching far above its weight/price bracket, but that's just my opinion. The big difference is that Templetons are available with wooden stocks, which the Axors aren't. They would make a nice option if available! The sights are, as I said in my review, pretty ordinary. I do think the 20" is better than the 28", simply because the rear sight is absolute crap and not really a sight per se. Throw a red dot on and ignore them... Anyway, cheers for the comments and questions, I appreciate the interest and feedback! Cheers and happy shooting...

What do you think the odds of this getting hit by an "appearance ban" are? I'm super interested in this and the "Sulun Arms Tacsoras" but I'm worried about getting hit with a ban because they both look very "tactical". In QLD btw.

Nothing to worry about in QLD as far as I'm aware. NSW is the one that cries about appearance.

  • @HillsPatrolTD42

Sorry mate, I did reply, but it looks like YT has taken it down... As Strider says below, there's very little chance of that happening in Qld, since we don't generally apply the appearance laws criteria like some States. I work in the industry (albeit part-time these days), so if there are talks of it, I'll hear pretty quick, but given the approach taken to date, yeah, it's not likely at all. Either shotty will be a good choice - the Pig will just leave you some extra cash to splash on accessories and such. Cheers for the question! Happy shooting...

G'day! Thank you for reaching out, it's very appreciated! As I pointed out, I'm not a professional reviewer at all, just a bloke who has been shooting for a decent stretch, and working part-time in a gun shop for a few years. Honestly, I am very impressed with the Bushpig! I won't repeat everything I posted, suffice to say, it functioned pretty much perfectly, and was very smooth. No major issues whatsoever to do with function, other than twice the loading ramp failed to lift, but that was an anomaly I think, we'll see. Only real gripe was, as I said, those cheek-riser nuts, but that's a common issue to those style of retainers, and a minor annoyance that's easily fixed. Overall, I love it, and am very glad I bought one, and will DEFINITELY recommend them to anyone who comes into the shop looking for a shotty! Again, thank you so much for watching my video and reaching out, it is very much appreciated! Cheers.

Honestly don't know mate, I don't have any available at the moment. As mentioned, I do have a box of Eley Ambers that I'm going to test in it as they are only 24gm and the gas system is designed to run 28 - 36gm, so I'll see if it will run those lighter ones. I'd reckon the minis would be as light, if not lighter? So as soon as I have a result on the Ambers, I'll let you know/post a quick vid. Thanks for the question, hopefully I can answer it shortly. Cheers.

Hey mate, minis won't work in it. Ignore the fact they're way too light on the charge (even solids), the short size of them simply stops them from feeding/cycling/extracting etc... I don't have video of that as corroboration, sorry, but anyway. Cheers for the question.

Honestly not sure mate, haven't had anyone from NSW enquire about one yet. The Templeton T2000 is legal there and operates on the same principle, and they look very similar. Visually it's not overly scary looking I don't think. Good question though, might be worth looking into! Cheers!

Mate, for the price point, they are a bloody good bit of kit to be honest. And in at work today I see they're now available in silver cerakote and walnut stocks, so they're giving the Templetons a serious run for the money, given the $300+ price difference between comparable models! 1st shotty, 3rd shotty, or 50th shotty, they'll suit new and seasoned shooters alike, especially for those who can't access cat C/D or afford multi thousand dollar Italian jobs. Cheers for the comment. Happy shooting!
