Bush Hogging 5 Acres of High Weeds

Фильм және анимация

I use my bush hog for clearing all kinds of land: tall grass, weeds, bushes, and even small trees. In this video, I make quick work of 5 acres of tall weeds using the brush hog. The actual working time was about 2 hours, and I tuned up the edges of the field with my riding mower afterwards.
My tractor is a 1967 Ford 3000, and it's still running strong.

    I have a 1977 Ford 3600 diesel I purchased in 1999. It had a Kelley loader and backhoe on it when I got it. It had 760 hours on it then and has 1530 hours now. I haven’t done any repairs to it, only maintenance, oil and filter changes. It’s been a wonderful tractor and enjoy running it for mowing and just purchased a used Land Pride RTR 2570 rototiller for the garden.

    Yeah, it don't take long for a grassy, weedy field to go back to a woods. Those saplings grow quickly. Good video, thank you for sharing.

    I'm glad I read the description. I was woundering how you mowed your land faster than me. I have grass about 18 inches tall and pieces of old fence keep getting around my blades.

    That sounds like a pain in the neck, but I'm guessing you'll get the old fence sorted out and removed before too long. Once things are cleared, the hogging should go fast!

    I would imagine that the best time to cut would be what the equipment handles most efficiently. Has to be done sooner or later or a call to lumberjacks is in order. I don't imagine many let a field go back to woods.

    The front of my bush hog drags on the ground. Is there something i can adjust to pull it up without adjusting the hydraulics. I have a lot of rocks on my property and need to have the brush hog 4 inches above ground.

  • @metaspencer

    @metaspencer

    The main adjustment tends to be the top link... crank that first. If that doesn’t work try connecting the unit at a higher pt on your side arms... dragging is no good
