Buses in Los Angeles, California 2018
Metro is the primary bus operator in the Los Angeles Basin, the San Fernando Valley, and the western San Gabriel Valley. Other transit providers operate more frequent service in the rest of the county. Regions in Los Angeles County that Metro Bus does not serve at all include rural regions, the Pomona Valley, the Santa Clarita Valley, and the Antelope Valley.
Metro operates two types of bus services which are distinguished by the color of the buses. However, when mechanical problems or availability equipment occurs, a bus of any color may be substituted to continue service on the route.
Metro Local buses are painted in an off-orange color which the agency has dubbed “California Poppy”. This type of service makes frequent stops along major thoroughfares. There are 18,500 stops on 189 bus lines. Some Metro Local routes make limited stops along part of their trip but do not participate in the Rapid program. Some Metro Local bus lines are operated by MV Transportation, Southland Transit, and Transdev (formerly Veolia).
Metro Rapid buses are distinguished by their bright red color which the agency has dubbed “Rapid Red”. This bus rapid transit service offers limited stops on many of the county's more heavily traveled arterial streets. Metro claims to reduce passenger commute times by up to 25 percent by several methods, among them the lack of a bus schedule so that drivers are not held up at certain stops.
Metro Express buses used to be painted in a dark blue color which the agency had formerly dubbed “Business Blue”, with routes designed as premium, minimal stop services along Los Angeles's extensive freeway network. There are 8 lines running as of 2018: 442, 460, 487, 489, 501, 534, 550, and 577.

L.A. has a lot of buses.
I used to ride these buses to work and school. And grew up near the 204 Vermont and 207 Western routes. And I spot the Blue Bus on 4th and Santa Monica Blvd near the end of this video. I used to work 1 block north on Arizona and 4th.

I really miss LA’s public transit system especially the lightrail and subway now that I’ve moved to Sacramento. Sacttown has pitiful buses and light rail system (just 2 lines) - dirty, antiquated, and surly staff. The riders are grim-faced for good reason! And expensive! But the best transit system is in Sydney Australia where they’re continually expanding and making improvements. Other cities like Sacramento should take a page out of their playbook on how to run a transit system.

Yeah with this covid stuff this comment makes more sense bc of covid they had no more room for enc El dorado's and xn-60 so there was a price to pay no more rapid livery 45c nabi's (there is one more) no more C40LF's no more nabi 40 lfw's there was 2 but the rapid one got retired so there is only one nabi 40 and that's on the 266 and the 577

I meant those buses needs new exterior design more like buses in europe. I said that beacuse I think change in design might attract more people to use Public transport for eg look at @0:23 and New Man Lion city bus or New eCiatro by mercedes

I really doubt that would work, especially since many of the older buses are being retired in favor of newer buses. To make matters worse, this country has an unhealthy relationship with cars only fueled by companies like Ford and General Motors, as well as the government not doing enough to provide good public transportation. (There's also the issue that some people think like Elon Musk on the matter, but that's a story for another time.)

Im a lets say armchair expert on Public transportation and know what you mean by GM and elon stories. I think am not a good in expressing my idea cuz when I said a design update I thought when they replace these buses pls get newer ones that look more European in design term.

I stupidly left out something else... In addition to what Alexander Dennis has, North American bus manufacturers are generally shifting toward more European designs. That said, we shouldn't expect a bus designed like the Orion VI, which featured a low floor throughout the entire bus.

They have Wi-Fi on there buses but they don't have usb outlets yet. LACMTA just got new XN-60s with usb outlets but they are not in service yet.
