    I find it's sometimes easier if you're not looking at the binding while stepping on. Once you've cleared the lift, bend down, open up the high-back, sweep out snow from the foot bed, straighten up, eyes forward, step on, rock your boot to make sure booth toe cleats are hooked in, and Bob's your uncle.

I rushed, and bought a board and binding setup I really don't care for. 1 thing is for sure, I'm buying stepons for next season because of your videos. I was curious though, With your stepons what board do you prefer the orca, or the warpig? I narrowed it between the 2 for my next season board. I really don't do much park riding I enjoyed just cruising the runs, and some trees.

    Zack Trosien thank you Zack! Honestly I love both boards with my Step Ons. You can’t go wrong with any of them. I would say if you like to ride switch or park stuff then go warpig. Powder riding and icy conditions, the orca all the way. Since you like to ride groomers, any of them will work. They are both volume shifted boards so you can downsize from what you normally ride. They’re both amazing for carving and run wider than most boards. What board and bindings do you have now?

The board i have is very narrow, and flimsy. I dont feel stable on it at all. At the time i didnt realize i needed a wide board for my boot size. After researching through tons of videos, i narrowed it down to the orca and warpig. I just want a nice stable board for the groomers. I hardley ride switch or do any park. I prefer to cruise, and im starting to get into the trees a bit more. Im leaning towards the orca more, for a do it all type of board. 1 thing is for sure though, Burton needs to pay you, you single handly sold me on the stepons. I watched you video and now Im getting better each time with stepping on the binding in motion.. One other question, when you get off a Gondola and have to step your front foot in the binding on a slope , if feel like the board could slip away from me and go down the hill.. I put my rear foot in front of the board to act as a stop just in case i miss the binding.. any thoughts on that.

  • @themidwestshredder

    @themidwestshredder

    That can work. What you can also do is lift the rear highback. Hold the highback from the top with your rear hand and step on with your front foot first so it doesn’t move on you. You can also step halfway on the board and halfway on the snow between the bindings with your rear foot. Then step on with your front foot first. All these will work. I rode a lot of big mountain in CO last weekend where a helicopter would drop us off on a lot of steep and uneven terrain. All of these worked for me.

Compared to the first Days i only need 1/4 of the Force to get the Second click. getting out needs the same power on the lever. at least 120 in-outs on front foot. 250-300+ @ backfoot

    which boots do you recomend for the step on bindings? The Burton Swath or the Burton Photon?

  • @themidwestshredder

    @themidwestshredder

    3 жыл бұрын

    It’s all personal preference. Personally, I like the swath because it’s softer and feels more comfortable to me. When I ride park, I’m able to make last second adjustments without any problems. If you like a stiffer boot and you like to ride mostly all mountain, the photon works good. Just remember, it’ll be a stiffer boot for sure. Some people like that.

    Maria yes it can have a lot to do with the boots being new. They might just need to be broken in. That can happen with any boot. There’s a lot of factors that can cause that though not just the boot. If you don’t ride a lot or if you’re feet are tense when you’re riding that can cause that. Break them in and see what happens. • @themidwestshredder

    @themidwestshredder

    2 жыл бұрын

    It would make more sense to adjust the “main” boa first. When you adjust the main one, it’s tightening the bottom portion of the boot and the top. If you tighten the ankle boa first, it’s tightening over the loose New England lace. If you tighten the main one after you do this, it’ll still tighten the laces at the bottom but it’s putting more pressure on the laces for no reason. Really there’s no rules but it makes more sense to tighten the main one first. If you’re leaving your boots loose for some reason and you want to mainly tighten the ankle, that’s different.

    Jack Karapetyan hi Jack, good question. I keep the lever in the stock position. Reason for that is that I want to continue putting a lot of stress on the bindings to see what they can handle. I want to see how much the rear locking mechanism (from the back foot) can handle from going in and out all the time. If I switch the levers, the rear binding will now have a newer mechanism since the front foot doesn’t go in and out all the time. I want to switch it to the inside but my curiosity is getting the best of me. Since I’m hitting jumps and riding all kinds of conditions, I want to see if that back mechanism will ever break. So far it’s still working great.
