Great video, Colin! The unknown performer in the Kool-Aid costume is actually Tom Anthony, a stuntman who also played Ronald McDonald during the 70’s.

@@ColinLooksBack Can you do a lookback on the "Cops and Robbers" dynamic between Cookie Crook, Officer Crumb and Chip the Dog? By that, I mean like how the Cookie Crisp Ad Campaign were more on the literal Cops and Robbers angle (after Jarvis the Wizard didn't catch on), then lost it's identity when bought by General Mills, to end up being nothing more than a diet version of the Trix Rabbit ad campaign, minus the sympathy (retroactively being forced in, because Nestle owned the rights to Cookie Crisp in Europe since 2002).

Little fun fact: the commercial at 1:32 was animated by Tex Avery and his Cascade studio, years after Tex had helped establish Bugs and left WB. And funny story, according to the Tex Avery King of Cartoons documentary, the studio had gotten the contract to do the commercials and everyone at the studio went "We need someone who knows how to draw Bugs Bunny, does anyone know how to draw him?" Not realizing that Tex had helped develop Bugs, or the fact that he even directed Bugs' official debut in A Wild Hare.

I remember the "Your Mama's so Fat Joke" where it goes, "Your mama's so fat that when she put on a red dress and bent over people yelled, 'Hey, Kool-Aid!" I was in middle school at the time, jokes like that were common either for fun or if you were being maliciously picked on, even if they are corny by today's standards.

First off, major applause for that end tag. It is a major misconception that needs to be cleared up. Apparently, they were willing to go to eternity for a cause, but not willing to shell out the, what, 5 cents more at the time for the brand name stuff. Anyway, I think they sometimes use some of the 90's flavor based mascots on packages of the Capri Sun style drink pouches, but I've only seen the purple dinosaur and maybe Sharkleberry Finn. I always liked when these kinds of products have short lived sub-mascots, but I can't remember any specific examples at the moment. A lot of them are Cap'n Crunch related, and speaking of which... Anyone know when the Soggies were introduced in terms of when the Thirsties were? Seems like one "inspired" the other.

Jonestown was a tragedy and its residents, including many children and infants, were forced to drink the flavorade. Not willing! You could vote for which potential friends would team up with Kool-aid man in defending the world in the comics. The reveal page at 6:15 was supposed to be a big deal, but they weren't utilized very much. It was more the idea of a kid like you hanging out with Kool-aid Man like the kids whom Superman worked with.

As a Brit I can tell you those two little black and white lads knew nothing. Nothing! We didn't get Kool-Aid (how can they even call it that with the amount of sugar in it?!) here. I'm pretty sure it's an America only kind of thing. In fact, I didn't even know what it was, even after seeing the Family Guy episode you showed, until a couple of years ago when I got curious about the "Don't drink the Kool-Aid" thing I kept seeing everywhere. And, to be frank, it was probably good we didn't get it here, given the stuff that's in it today, I'd hate to think what it contained back in the 80's! I thought Ribena was sugary, but dear Goddess this stuff takes the biscuit! I did enjoy the video though, even if it meant almost nothing to me! 😉😁

If I could revive the comic books, It will be in the Archie Era where Kool Aid Man have to Deal with Both The Thirties and Scorch as the recurring villains while also facing one shot villains. These one shot villains have nothing to do with drinking, Instead having them be based on the moral of the Comic. One story in mind deals with bullying and it involved a grown up bully named Gavin Bullion (Who looks like a older, meaner, Reggie) trying to convince bullies to overthrow their parents and take over their neighborhood but the bullies reformed thanks to Kool Aid Man.

The end skit is a reference to the phrase "don't drink the Kool-Aid", which means "don't join a cult/fall for propaganda". The phrase originates from the infamous Jonestown cult, who committed mass suicide by drinking poisoned Flavor-Aid, a Kool-Aid knockoff. The end skit is the Kool-Aid Man getting upset over being associated with Jonestown, despite Kool-Aid not being the product used.
