Burrs Country Park and the East Lancashire Railway [CC]

On the way back South from Glasgow, Dougal and I spend a couple of days at the Caravan and Motorhome Site at Burrs Country Park:
www.caravanclub.co.uk/club-si...
It's a lovely site in Bury, Lancashire, home town of the famous market.
We take a trip on the East Lancashire Railway, which has a station at the site. We travel on both a steam train and a heritage diesel train. For timetable and fares, please see:
www.eastlancsrailway.org.uk
There are normally special offers on the Railway for CAMC members, so check with site staff when you arrive.
For lunch, Dougal and I head to what turns out to be an amazing restaurant, the Hearth of the Ram in Ramsbottom, a mere five minute walk from the ELR station. In addition to regular meat and fish dishes, the Hearth of the Ram also has a great vegan menu.

We just can't keep you from playing with trains, can we. Fortunately. Beautiful video of the East Lancs tank engine and the DMU. Dougal was able to accompany you and seemed happy, too. I couldn't help but notice how the camera seemed to linger on that airstream and tow vehicle which looked so much like yours, and again from the pitch up to the train. What a beautiful day outing. And the restaurant food presentation was amazing, too.

Great video and the East Lancs Railway is very nice as ive been on it a few times. The 2-6-0T GWR loco took me to these places along the line the first time i went to the railway and the campsite looks very nice which your Airstream was easily spotted. It reminded of me staying at presthaven sands in Prestatyn which the caravan backed onto the North Wales Main Line that majority of the services were class 175s a few class 158s as well a few class 221s (one of which were doubled to form a 10 car unit that was named The Irish Mail so i took the chance to ride it on its return journey from Holyhead to Euston)

When Teddy Wanderer sees this video , he will be asking me for the loan of my van , his wee furry face will be so excited and as for the food , just scrummie , yummie methinks , give Douggieboy a big kiss from me , he is such a sweetiepie !!

A thoroughly interesting video Andrew, I didn't know that the site had its own railway station, I am going to add this site to my 'must visit' for 2019. Dougal looks smart in his coat and its good to see him enjoying 'fetch'! Great to see a steam train and it looked an enjoyable experience for you and Dougal. I went to Morris Leisure site Stanmore Hall last year, near Bridgnorth, Shropshire, and while I was there I had a fantastic ride on the Severn Valley Railway which runs from Bridgnorth to Kidderminster, it was a steam train which made it all the more enjoyable. Looking forward to the next video, tara-a-bit!

Thanks for the vlog. I live only 2 minutes from the Rawtenstall line. I've been on that line many times but not Burrs county park albeit only 15minutes from me. Every time I want to stay it's full.....doh!! P.S nice piece in the March Caravan and Motorhome magazine 👍🏻give a stroke to Dougal from my Labradoodle Woody 🐕

I hope you get to review the other new airstreams, what video is the first that they let you take the Missouri for a spin and if your truck isn’t big enough for the largest of the three get them to have a truck at your disposal for the review, they’ll get their money’s worth

Love a good steam train - somehow my boys have no interest though! Still I'm the driver so they go where I take them ;-) Lovely summary thanks.

Andrew Ditton did them last year, you will enjoy both, very well run, you will have the choice of a camp sight at Broadway, or Cheltenham racecourse.

Hi Andrew. Hopefully you will know the answer. Full time Motorhomeing or Living in a caravan. I assume council tax is not paid. So how do people support Fire and Police services as it's included in council tax. I pay around £200 just for Fire and Police etc Cheers from George and Jane

If you have a 'base' like me, that takes care of it. Otherwise, the sites you are staying at pay commercial rates which comes out of your site fees, and that should cover it.

For me, perhaps the best video from you, I love trains, the main decoration in the living room is my model railway, which goes through the walls of three rooms in the apartment. Having traveled with some trains in England, liked it a lot. The food at the restaurant was not for me, I want food on the dish, not a work of art, I am a farmer's son, from the arctic area in Norway, we use the dishes for food. Very good filming and editing, you can sometimes break the music and maybe comment, you are very good at this, good job again.
