Thanks for the effort you put into this. I too need some burnt covers. I did find that some covers with chrome plating will blister. I believe it was because the surface wasn't perfectly clean prior to plating. Or it may be due to using a larger torch and heating it too fast. I'll let you know as I learn more. ESP has similar covers on their display models. The top woods are exotic, with 'river' or 'lava' flow epoxy in between. They would also stain certain parts of the wood. It is starting to make sense now.

I heard to heat from the back for best effect? Don't know but plan 2 try soon.

There is a metal treatment called " jet fuel " its a special titanium compound plasma spray . Used on bicycle parts , car rims etc

Has anyone tried to burn a chrome bridge to match the burnt chrome pickups?

To be honest, Obi Wan - I haven't tried it. I'd imagine you'd need to do some sanding back to get it off. Quite likely to go through the coating then
