Continuing on the train of Castlevania items, today, the Vampire Killer enters the fray with its ability to crit on targets set on fire. Can this beast of a whip handle the heat of the malaise?

Oil sword is nice, but compared to the whip, it falls behind quite a lot because the damage isn't that crazy. And since many items can get the apply oil effect, including the vampire killer, there isn't really a point to use the oil sword anymore

I like the torch in the backpack with acrobatipack. You roll through, which stuns and lights them on fire, and then deal criticals. Really adds a defensive element to it!
Fun fact if you didn't know. The legendary variant of Holy Water comes from Richter Belmont's Hydro Storm when he uses holy water in the Castlevania games. It's one of his signature attacks. The rain and The Beheaded's pose is all a reference to it.

Does the beheaded actually hydro storm? Or it's just a stronger holy water referencing the pose?
@Darkmoone1

@@ruffus_da_foxo Yeah he is essentially doing hydro storm. The pose is part of what Richter does in SotN (in Rondo of Blood he jumps up and yells it out), and the entire stage is covered in holy rain, causing enemies on the screen to take several instances of damage. With the fire dot in this game it operates the same way mechanically, just maybe not as OP.

A lot of the enemies being reskins of dead cells enemies is probably because Dead Cells took heavy inspiration from Castlevania, including the enemy design. It's why the vampire killer has this odd animation set instead of the straight forward whip animation like in Castlevania. That weapon already exists in game as the Valmont's whip.

The Vampire Killer is the Belmont family weapon, they all get it.
Late Game Dracula's Castle should have been the inverted version if you visit the base version in a run.
The most fun I had using the Vampire Killer was taking pyrotechnics with it instead of fire brands, oil grenade and corrupted power. Oil grenade procs pyrotechnics which procs vampire killer, and corrupted power gives extra damage and almost always come with a fire or oil effect.
I never understood the criticism of the enemies just being reskinned versions of others. Even taking away the dire wolves, bats, and haunted armor you still have plenty of original ones. To list them off, you have the manticore, axe welding armor, skeleton, harpy, the merman, werewolves, and medusa. Just as many as other dlc's
Honestly the biggest reason some things are reskins is because they're originally legally distinct Castlevania enemies
Was brainstorming a build for the weapon and this video pops in. Perfect timing!
the vampire killer has pretty good synergy with fire weapons which makes it quite devastating, also hyped for the new biome guides :>
I really enjoy your content and insight brother. Keep killing it
YES NEW UPLOAD! I wish there are other Dead Cells content creators like you who put gameplay videos like this. I don't play games anymore (because college drains my free time) so I just watch your gameplay videos. THANKS FOR THE UPLOAD love it as always
Beautiful run. Really wanna try this weapon now....

The legendary holy water effect was called Item Crush in the old castlevania, I think a some of the other sub-weapons (L&R weapons) will have similar area effects. Also if you have on the Richter outfit the Velmont whip looks like the vampire killer from the old castlevania games. If you want a Fun combo, use the Alucard sword and shield, you can parry on attack with the sword.

If you need any extra reason to try Twitch streams, the Dead Cells community is pretty tight knit over there. I see so many familiar names when jumping between different streams in the category. And I'm sure a good chunk of people will recognize your name and click the stream.
you came back with better content ,nice
When I thought of builds with this weapon I pretty much thought of the exact same build you've been using, only I'd put Torch in the backpack and take the modifier that makes your rolls use the melee weapon in your backpack. That way, whenever you roll through an enemy or boss, that's an extra stack of burning applied.
being waiting for that biome guide
A litte castlevania context: The vampire killer is passed down through generations in the belmont family, it is an alchemical/sanctified whip, wielded by basically all main characters in the series. The spear guys being reskins isn't the castlevania dlc being lazy, the spear guys are present in several castlevania games, the ones inthe base game were essentially rip-offs, this also goes for several of the tiny flying enemies being variations on the castlevania bats, some ground slamming or dashing sword guys, and several jumping enemies, just to start. The inclusion of the holy water is kind of redundant as a refrence when the firebrand exists, simmilarly to how valemonts whip (belmonts whip, but legally distinct) is just the vampire killer of dead cells, the boomerang is the cross, though several castlevania games also have boomerangs, throwing knives are... well themselves, etc. There is a lot of deadcells takes on the classic castlevania weapons, some more overt than others, like the whip, or how the cugel is nearly identical visually to the knights shield in symphony of the night. As for dracula... He is whacky, the series has you fighting him many times, and each time is distinct, at least in it's second phase, ranging from the cookie monster of the first game to living paintings and eldritch horrors. As for instant death attacks I'm not sure, but castlevania has allways been notorious for it's difficulty, and I know at least one of the fights have instand death pits, but frankly that's all I can think of atm. I haven't played most of the games though, and I have to admit while I have seen gameplay of several to the end, I have never actually beaten a castlevania game, mostly because I got access to a lot of them at once, so getting stuck drive me to another title instead of pushing on Overall this dlc is basically just letting team cherry finally come clean, and let dead cells truly become the spiritual successor to castlevania it allways was but now more officcially, with skins and names we all know and love.

FYI the legendary holy water has the beheaded doing a version of Richters special move called an "item crush" for holy water its called "hydro storm"
I think it would've been cool if they implemented the second run of Dracula's Castle to be a lot more difficult than other biomes of similar level if you ran through it earlier in the same run. Letting you fight Death and Dracula in the same run, and possibly allowing the layout to remain the same and have the map pre filled in as a reward for clearing it earlier. Just a thought though, I don't know how it would work balance wise.
And I thought I was crazy, that vampire killer works really well with fire brands.
I wish they would add a boss cell door in the outskirts that let you leave the castlevania path but return to it later for Dracula. An extra reward for those who have grinded the game while still being straightforward for newcomers.
5:49 this broke my heart
Water puddle gear might be a refreshing idea. From disgusting damge to no damage at all. Only purpose is synchronize damage. I might get interested on using electric weapons again. Pretty useless on flying enemies tho.
Lovee the content waiting the dlc to arrive to mobile wondering how some phoned handles the biome
You can export twitch streams to KZread directly from the twitch dashboard.
I just reliaze that Vampire Killer attack moves are inspired by the way Gabriel Belmont fights.
Didnt get many attempts with the vampire killer, but alucard's sword is, imo, the best weapon the dlc has to offer.
Can I ask what the music is for the remade intro? You mentioned in the description you had to redo your intro due to a false claim. And I couldn't find the new music on the list you provide in the description.
As it stands, I think that a potential weapon or tool design would be either wet condition or puddles, working with either shock or freezing damage sources for potential crit conditions or freeze opportunities.

I think a lot of the enemies in this DLC being reskins is actually a good thing that makes the DLC worth the price that much more. Think about it, in all other DLC's there were, like, one or two new enemies per biome with the rest being enemies from the base game. In the Castlevania DLC its much the same, only they went the extra mile to reskin them to look like other enemies from Castlevania without making more new enemies than they did for the other DLC's. Sure, after you complete the DLC's quest you start seeing more enemies from the base game that aren't reskinned, but your first time through its _just_ new Castlevania enemies even with the ones that are just reskins.
Streaming sounds pretty daunting
I prefer pyrotechnics, (maybe fire blast) I also use kill rhythm because the vampire killer is kind of slow for my taste. I also use the oil bomb if i cant find something to apply oil for that extra dps.
Isn't Valmont's Whip a little easter egg from Castlevania as Belmont's Whip? And its attack animation is the same as the classic castlevania games, without the holding of attack button that makes the whip fall and you can control it with your directional button
While enemy reskins do exist, I don't really see it as a problem. We already got Mermen, Throw Masters (skeletons), Harpies, Werewolves, Buers, and Axe Armors as new enemies, along with essentially 3 bosses and a miniboss. That's probably (?) more enemies than other DLC, even. The only reskins (haunted armors, dire werewolves, and vampire bats) are probably the way they are because a) they're used quite often in castlevania biomes, and having them be their normal selves might look too out-of-place given how prolific they are and b) there are a lot of blueprints and items in this DLC and they needed enemies to drop them. Regarding the restrictions for going to the DLC multiple times, I think it's perfectly fine. It's a routing choice like any other, not really any different purpose than not being able to go to HotK and Queen in the same run, for example. I also imagine there would be technical issues if the castle generated the same or almost the same every run. Also re: the similarity of early/late drastle, the enemy roster (aside from castlevania enemies) is actually different depending on when you visit, which is neat. Similar to you, probably my only major criticism with the DLC is how restrictive its routing is. Once you go to croutskirts, you HAVE to go to drastle and death, and there is no other way to go to either of them except through croutskirts. Similarly, late-game drastle is only accessible from sepulcher and clock tower...there could have been a real opportunity to incentivize places like ossuary and mausoleum by letting them lead to death/late-game drastle respectively.

The lore wise excuse for the similarities in the castle is, the castle is a living "reincarnation" of chaos, making it not take a permanent form, and just be slightly changed by his lord, Dracula or others, depending on what game you play

7:50 From what i remember another large youtuber saying about twitch ads is that each view on an ad is a fraction of a single cent, so if you're getting a good amount of subs and donations an hour, then playing an ad isnt worth it because about 20% of people will just go and find a different stream while you gained maybe 3 dollars at most.
whats the mod you have to have enemies and bosses appear that way?
And like that Oiled Sword is now rendered obsolete. I expected a few more Castlevania enemies, like the flea men, ghouls, bone dragons, and such. No red skeletons? I don't see why Bone Towers are exclusive to Richter mode.
Footage of my grandpa back in 1900
It would be cool if you could make enemies wet and have them take more damage when they get by electric attacks kind of like having oil on your body
I wish they had the bone towers from Richter mode in the normal game. They should be.
The bible is a S tier weapon, it can be kinda awkward at times but it is insane when you get its ability going. If you did not know, its ability even activates on an ememys shield, meaning that I beat the spoiler boss just after he teleported once. The revolving bibles were just insane and gave the boss no free time

Do you have recommendations on mutations and affixes for it? Really wanna make that weapon work for me.
@matthewn4988
Жыл бұрын
@@Darkmoone1 the bigger the scroll count and the higher tier the weapon, the better. In my opinion, it performs best on bosses, so plan for that. For affixes, you can easily proc bleeding and poison through the right affixes with ice armor at higher levels, so work around those affixes (I prefer bible with survival, and I include the tactics short range damage increasd mutation, for when the bibles start to rotate, but I am not sure if that increases the damage). You also can proc other affixes with abilities but bleeding and poison are very easy to apply from how common they are and how much percent damage add on they do, so if you are lacking in proccing bleeding, use the brutality mutation that applys bleed for melee attacks. Other than Mutations, attack speed matters most so just get in the most hits, proc lots of bibles, and parry last second

I feel like the cross is the expert version of the boomerang. Because the boomerng, you just have to throw it and let it do it's work. But the cross, you have to pin point the distance to get the most out of it. So, I can see the criticism here. But, seeing how many weapons dead cells already have, it's not urprising to see that some of them are pretty similar. And it's not really new. Twin daggers, machete and pistol, and wrenching whip basically do the same thing, following a 3 hit combo to crit. While the dlc amso follows a bit this trend, most weapons at least feel like they take a unique spin on the concept. Sometimes, even a bit too unique like the morningstar
how to unlock everything in the game? is there a guide to find every blueprint

Use hunters grenade, you can find it in prisoners quarters after you unlock it from collector. Just carry that thing then throw it to the enemy that have a blue orb. After you threw it, take "bluprint collector"(the purple stuff), and reduce the enemy health to 40% and use that stuff

From what i've heard, Twitch streaming only works after you have expanded your brand and community on other platforms. Shorts on KZread, Twitter, Tiktok are for getting that crucial reach you will need before hitting twitch. This is something people don't understand, the most popular streamers did their due diligence and are willing to walk if twitch doesn't do enough, because the platform is just a platform and isn't a passion. Other people let their love of entertaining and gaming get in the way of making good decisions with their content.
