GOING BALLS OUT | Dead Cells - Wrecking Ball Showcase (5BC Run w/ Commentary)
Ойындар
Join me today for an unexpected showcase of the wrecking ball! In this 5BC Dead Cells run, I will be using this behemoth of a weapon to clear the game, as there's something satisfying of using a large hunk of metal to one shot every enemy on the island.

Foresight in fact DOES work as intended. That's why it got nerfed from 5 seconds recharge to 8 kills recharge. It basically made all cursed chests free. Pretty sure only thing that bypasses it is trap damage.

Because of the nerf to Foresight I gotten better at the game I no longer depend on cheese to get through a fight

I am actually playing a mobile version of this game as well where the nerf still happened, but it went from 5 sec to 8 sec

Curiously frost armor (or is it Ice Armor? idk) does work against traps. If you fall into spikes with it on you get bumped up a little bit and I think it refreshes your double jump as well.
Finally this weapon has some light! This weapon is so underrated, and I like it because is so good and fun. Hope to see more obscure weapons in these showcases in the future
Foresight was always this way: When it prevented damage, your kill streak went on.
while the weapon is unusual on it's speed it's quite underrated, the ball does deal pretty massive damage and the berserker rework does now help on survivability more than before
Based and ballpilled. Glad you changed your mind about this weapon -- there are dozens of us wrecking ball fans, I tell you, dozens! 4:41 - I'm pretty sure this isn't stated on the tooltip because it's...not actually intentional. I think (I hope) it's one of those bugs-turned-tech that stay because they add to the weapon, which doublecrits absolutely do, encouraging the close-range style of the first two hits of the combo. Hopefully it's being left in intentionally and it's not just that the devs don't know about it, because I'd hate for this tech to be removed. As for the technical end of why this happens... When they hit an enemy, projectiles in this game "store" that enemy somewhere in the code in order to make it so that same enemy can't be hit again by the same projectile (such that piercing projectiles don't hit enemies a billion times when they pass through them) -- with the exceptions of ones that are meant to multihit, like death orb, which have a set tickrate. Wrecking ball's projectile is no exception to this, but it's not actually one projectile -- it's two. One projectile state occurs during the 'charge' of the attack, i.e. when the ball is moving from where it started to the player. Once it reaches the player (or if you use an animation cancel to cancel the 'charge' portion), it spawns the 'end' projectile, which occurs as the ball swings past the player (or as it falls to the ground, if the 'end' projectile was created by cancelling the 'charge'). This has its own separate "stored enemies" -- so while an enemy cannot be hit twice by the 'charge' nor the 'end,' they can be hit once by each. As far as I can tell, the hitbox of the wrecking ball projectile is extremely wide -- you can see this by throwing it near an enemy and recalling it straight upwards, where it will still hit -- so if you hit the enemy with the 'charge' portion and then the ball immediately transitions into the 'end' portion, the wide hitbox of the 'end' projectile will immediately be on top of the enemy, hitting them again. The 'end' projectile also differs in a few other subtle ways. 8:29 - This endlag period is present on nearly every weapon, but it's most noticeable on the slower ones, which tend to have more. I don't think it ever extends above 0.5 seconds (heavy crossbow and the final hit of alucard's sword), so it's not as long as the actual charge time by any means. There's also a whole, recently-discovered mechanic called 'stagger' that helps out weapons with high endlag, but that's not too important. 10:54 - Like I said, not intended. Either way, I'd say this game does NOT have a damage cap issue. I'm not quite sure where this misconception came from. Boss damage cap is 15% of the boss's max hp (if not even more lenient, varies per boss) so if you're hitting that cap, you are going to kill them in 7 hits...and if you can do that, you really aren't gonna be having problems beating them (not to mention other damage sources like arrow affixes and DoTs can easily let you do more than 15%). The only boss I've ever hit the damage cap in my likely hundreds of hours with ultraheavy survival weapons is the 5bc boss, who has a 5% damage cap instead of 15% and much lower base health to account for the fact that he heals. 12:16 - Even if you oneshot everything, getting to the third hit is important for this reason -- WB's range is very polarized, because while the first two are low range, the last two let you clear out entire hallways with ease if you can get to them. That won't entirely negate the issue, though, of course -- you'll still need to be able to get in close with this weapon to make it effective. 12:50 - I also recommend getting a feel for how long you can wait between strikes before the combo resets. When you jump to this platform, you use a throwable and phaser -- I'm pretty confident that if you had foregone the phaser and attacked with the ball immediately, you would have been on the second hit instead of the first. Learning that rhythm helps immensely with consistently getting to the final hits of the combo. It's worth nothing that this rhythm is CONSISTENT across weapons -- weapons either have a 'short' combo window, or (with ones such as wrecking ball) a 'long' combo window, which is twice as long as the 'short' one -- so learning the rhythm for other 'long' combo window weapons will let you apply it to all others. - You mentioned this a few times throughout the video, but yeah, foresight doesn't break killstreak or curses. It's always had this functionality (as has ice armor, which I'm more okay with), but you're right, that does make it really strong. Even with the kill requirement I daresay it's better solely for its passive effect than ice armor is. 13:54 - This is generally the case for all 'disjointed' melee weapons (which WB is, given its chain). Tentacle and the four whips (minus morningstar which doesn't pierce shields for whatever reason) have this property stated in their description, but wrecking ball has it, too. Many vertical or disjointed individual _attacks_ in this game also have that property -- such as king scepter bounces, pure nail upslash/downslash, machete and pistol's third hit, and tombstone's third hit.

Im confused. I'm not watching this video at 4:441 am? How do you think that xD Im in 6nd grade and even i know that! xDDDDD
Throwable object is a god damn game breaker.
Really great video I recently started dead cells and have made it to 2BC and have just discovered your channel. Learnt lots of great tips from here and I really like the advice regarding how to play heavy survival weapons as slower and being careful with the timing hopefully will help me get to 3BC and beyond.
Watching your videos is so amusing and your voice is so nice. I love the game but just watching your channel even as a background to playing is very pleasant
finally, this day has come. I've been waiting for this for 4- no, 5000 years!
Love your videos man! You've got this game down to a science too.
Yeah, I think it's wrecking ball, flint, and tectonic wave( I think I know it's a skill that the hand of the king uses) can break the ram rune floor.

I've been able to do it with the tombstone.
13:30 foresight saved you there. it's not the bat's death that lifted your curse, it was foresight.
I love that you showcased this. I tried making it work a few times, but i found it difficult to pull off. Very cool design though
Great showcase! Also phaser is actually really nice to have in a survival run.
I'm glad to see you warmed up to this weapon Psyechie, I remember you weren't all that fond of it when it first came out.
We're all waiting for the Castlevania weapon ranking and Pseychie is out here playing with balls. (jk, love the vids)
First time I beat the 5bc spoiler boss, I had 40 survival scrolls. I don't even know how I got that much Also, I was using a legendary symmetrical lance, so I oneshot him through his shield, giving me a no hit first time lol, It was so fast I killed him in the first phase, he literaly tp to the end dead already
I think foresight is working as intended and I think the difference between foresight and gold plating is that you are still losing “health” with gold plating whereas with foresight you only lose the temp one hit protection. So in effect gold plating literally converts your gold into more health but obv more health doesn’t matter to a curse cos if you take damage, you take damage and the curse will kill you, whereas with foresight you don’t lose any health at all. So basically, gold plating gives you more health but foresight protection you from losing any, hence the curse kills you with gold plating and doesn’t with foresight Likewise you’d die for a curse whilst having the bonus health of just barricade itself cos it’s only giving more health, not preventing you from losing any
Great editing in the intro!
I love what you said about looking at the positives of a negative, or looking at the negatives of a positive. Both sides are important ❤
Love you bro
balliin
foresight works like ice armor it doesnt count it as an instance of dmg so u can get no hits with it or not die to curses
acutelly throwable object can stun collector( I just try it with the bat), and I think it is useable becuase it can refill in the monster room of the collector

NO FUCKING WAY IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED OMG I have been waiting for this moment for SO LONG WRECKING BALL GANG LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
20:14 Interesting, the spoiler boss interrupted by canon while when he was on bubble state

In my short time using it, I noticed that the cannon interrupts enemies even when they are invincible.
Console player who can’t use the new patch yet, yes Foresight prevented kill streaks from ending in prior patches, which includes Curses. So does Ice Armour, making Foresight and Legendary Ice Armour really useful for the Cursed Sword achievement.
Love the philosophy talk in the middle of a Dead Cells weapon showcase
I've been playing dead cells on the switch, and Foresight doesn't reset my kill streak.
And that's why survival is my favourite color.
From my own experiences and from your video, it does seem like survival weapons, on the general, require a lot more knowledge of enemy attack patterns and timings because of how vulnerable they left you with a fair few of them having animation locks and slow attacks to balance the massive amount of damage that they can put out. Sucks about the damage caps for these kind of high risk, high reward weapons but I can somewhat understand with some of the bonkers scaling that can happen.
10/10 intro lmao
The wrecking ball be balling
Hey, I really enjoyed your showcase! as someone who didn't really appreciate slow survival as well, this video was very, very enjoyable. If you continue doing slow survival showcases, I sincerely recommend the Boy's Axe, as it has a 0.07 second cast time and does a pretty ludicrous amount of breach, so you can use it as a substitute for Throwables that functions during bosses. P.S: Foresight does not block traps, but that also includes grenades and bombs like those from grenadiers and cannibals, as well as Arbiter death projectiles. It's pretty much a counterpart to ice armor otherwise so it blocking curse deaths like from that kamikaze makes sense. Furthermore, a warning: Foresight on current beta is bugged to not block damage from Inquisitors and Knife Throwers while you are cursed, while normally it does.

Re: boy's axe, breach doesn't work on most bosses. However, it does inflict a lot of rooting and is meant for single target, so yes, it's a pretty good option.
I treat Dead cells like John wick, at 5BC there’s so much dangerous enemies and you have so much options at every second once you engage the battle. Weapons with gimmick like these are setups to increase you survivability. Just be John wick, think like one, be water.
ballin'
When a weapon crits with a status ailment(fire, poison, stun, etc) its abt how good and reliably can you apply it to enemies and does it work with bosses If a weapon like the Wreaking ball, Flawless, Nerves of steel, Marksman bow, and many others like those, another deadcells streamer(Doc firebird) calls them skill weapons, its more abt how good can you keep ur self in those situations to crit
İyi bayramlar
watching high skilled player play this weapon is the most satisfying thing to watch
I wish you could launch the ball at any time by holding the attack button, and the longer you hold will launch the ball farther (up to a certain point of course). the fact that the throw only comes out after the second attack of the combo really limits this things crit potential
Foresight does indeed keep your kill streak and not trigger curse deaths pre alpha
If you happen to get a Legendary Ball on a survival run, pick it up. A tier 6 ball still does really good damage on 5BC even as late into a run as HoTK and Spoiler Biome and the legendary bonus completely removes the recovery, meaning you can dodge or parry at any point during the attack or after you land it, completely removing the weapon’s main downside
Can we apprieciate how throwable objects made this video possible
survival weapon + victims slow down nearby enemy + frostbite mutation = whole biome deleted 🔥🔥🔥 and nice video as usual ❤️❤️
you should defenetly try out snake fangs + catalyst , you can deal insane amounts of damage when stacking a lot of poison
Yooo bro is ballin 💀
Takes alot of balls to do this challenge
Mom shut up pseychie posted
16:48 I have 323 hours in this game and I've never seen that attack before Never even seen it in any dead cells videos Must be extremely rare
Can we get an tentacle showcase please?
Other people have said it already, but yes, Foresight has always worked this way. Diverse Deck is kinda overpowered
As a new player, do you unlock good weapons, mutations or upgrades first?
Hey man, a question, im still stucked in 2bc, any help, tips, best combo to complete it?
Damn, I'm this released so short ago
Honestly cried when he asked to see scarecrows balls
can you review backpack hero?
In 13:25, it was Foresight proc i think?
Whats the best way to unlock items, run 0BC and get the item extractor ?
Sorry, i need to do this LIGMA BA-
You sure are ballsy
Hey, great job on this video, however, I would like to give some advice. It's an incredibly hard habit that I myself had for a while, but try to avoid saying things like "um" or "uh" when you're talking, because not only does it give off a bit more confidence when you're speaking, but it also allows the conversation (scripts or in real life) to feel more smooth. Otherwise, amazing video, keep it up👍
Where can get your outfit?
Anyone else playing on switch found that the performance went down?
Came here to see where i can find the blueprint and saw nothing🗿
I do enjoy balls ngl
Big restraint for not doing the obvious Miley Cyrus joke
Wrecking ball should just be the throw and recall, then I'd actually use it.
@nicdasl8497

Wrecking ball is fine as is, if it were just the throw and recall it’d be way to broken
its so fun in lesser boss cells but in 4-5 boss cells, its almost impossible to use it without dying in the second biome.

@@nicdasl8497 no,wrecking ball is just straight up bad.
literally how?
I do think that most slow weapons in dead cells are viable, but once you get to "wrecking ball" range, I think they get too slow for their own good. They just don't feel as good and most boil down to "big beat sticks" with very little variety
When you talk about the system not knowing how many inputs you made thus not allowing you to roll away...what you are describing is just poorly made coding that registers too many inputs at once when it shouldn't. Or to be more precise, it could be because it was poorly made, or intentionally made, which doesn't make it better, cuz it's a shitty feature if it's on purpose.
