There was no other option at that time. These ships where the only ones left, that where not sunk or damaged, besides another frigate.

The Minotaur could still Fire it’s turrets when it was sinking. You could of sunk the battleship

Yes it could, but Admiral Kin Fai lost all hope. Right after this battle he resigned. I don't know if he will ever join again.
