Growing up in the 60s in the US, everyone had a card table, but it didn’t look like that!ours was a Samsonite, with metal legs - no wood at all. My grandmother’s was part wood, part “paperboard”. The one I got when I got married was vinyl on top. Ours were all practical - seating for guests at large gatherings - but yours is MUCH better looking!

Imagine if that table could talk! What a story it would tell about that big burn mark. 😮 Beautiful table, ready for more stories!

Looks like that project was 'easier' than many of the others you have completed Jay! The results are stunning as always. Looking forward to the MCM collab video

The brass corners were just the right touch. Great job! I saw a guy who uses the wax sticks by rubbing them in to the wood. I thought it strange, but he makes it work. Hugo is such a sweetie and so patient.

Another great project from 'The Furniture Master'. Those brass corners were the icing on the cake. Now for a game of Texas Hold 'Em 😁.

This was fun to watch! You restore so many pieces that others would resign to the trash heap, and make them lovely.

What a difference those gold corners have done. Another fantastic job! 🎉

Rivets can easily be removed if the heads are carefully ground off, but new rivets or bolts will obviously be needed when reassembling

I like to drill them out but you have to be really careful to center your drill and slowly step up the drill size until the head comes off

Great transformation and the thingy pieces brought it to a new level. Oh yes, the screw heads need to face the same directions.

Love these wooden game tables. They are well made and stand the test of time. Love watching the transformation. 😊 I bet Hugo loves you as much as he loves his family. Now the table has had a cat scan. Plus approval.

You've demonstrated that not every restoration needs to be completely dismantled and sanded down. Sometimes just a good cleaning and refreshing is enough. Often, folks have pieces in their homes that need some love but would seem impossible for someone to tackle. But with just some minimum care the piece can look lovely again.

Beautiful job, I’ve been binge watching your videos recently as I’ve been quite ill and just find them so relaxing. I’m a creative person but through art and textiles but it’s wonderful to watch an alternative artisan restoring such pieces. Thank you. ☺️

I'm 34, have been learning about woodworking for 30 years, and I learned about 2 weeks ago that there are rubber pieces made specifically to be wrapped in sandpaper to fit specifically into certain sized grooves to make sanding more articulate. I love how the ways I learned are so archaic, nearly, and that there are so many new things to help make it SO much easier to get a desired finish so much easier!
