Burma Mines Railway 2013 Part 3 of 4

Part 3 starts with the Hino lorry rail conversion climbing the Wallah Gorge spiral. The Wickham trolley then descends. A descent is made sitting on a flat wagon in front of a diesel loco. The rail line along the E.R. Valley from Tiger Camp to Bawdwin mines has been cut by a massive wash-away. Bawdwin mines and Tiger camp are also connected by an electric mine railway running through Tiger Tunnel built 1914. This line is currently out of use.

That's a very superior Wickham Trolley compared to that I used to drive in the early days of the Kent and East Sussex. That was a flat wagon with an engine mounted in the middle, flat belt to one axle, a brake, clutch and throttle and the whole covered on top only!

Congratulations another superb video of this lovely line, That little 4-wheel box van it pulls behind the bigger bogie vans reminds me of the 'gunpowder' vans used in the Welsh quarries. Just out of interest who won when the 'lorry' met the 'Wickham Trolley' head on, I must say that 'lorry' has a rather unusual drive system on its rear axle, almost home-made. Has anything been done about the 'wash-out' or has it just been left, such a shame it is so inaccessible for such what could be a lovely little railway.

The 'head-on' was not as dramatic as it looks, there is more than one line at Tiger Camp where they met. The Hino had direct drive to the front wheels and belt drive to the rear. Considering the inactivity at the mine it is unlikely the wash-out will be repaired.

It actualy looks a bit like the logging Cabooses/rolling tool sheds in the US that were built by the railroad/logging company from a spare truck (bogie)they had lying around.

It is unfortunate that we did not see what happened to the HINO.
