Burk Parsons: Chosen by God

In Ephesians 1:1-6, the Apostle Paul explains how God has blessed His people with every spiritual blessing. In this session, Dr. Burk Parsons explains how these spiritual blessings are ours not because we chose God, but because God chose us.

I too have struggled with these doctrines until one day God opened my eyes to what it means for God to be merciful and loving. I now hold to all the doctrines of grace. They are truly beautiful when we set our human pride aside to attempt to see the divine plan that God has sovereignly orchestrated for His glory.

It's been 3 years since I'm out of this now: best years of my new life. What happenned? I said to God I wanted to know who he is: He showed me.

Amen! This is the second time I’ve heard someone today say something about being saved for the first time when they thought they were already saved. It’s been a big comfort to know I’m not the only one that thought they were saved only to come to the realization I never was before. And I can clearly see that now, because I have had so much change in what I us to believe to be true that just wasn’t biblical. I did not like the idea of predestination at all, but now I am so grateful it’s all His doing. I also use to say I was a Christian, but I lived how I wanted to and believed that God would forgive me and loves me anyway, but now I see I never was saved, because now that my heart has been changed, my life and desires have been radically changed. That is such a great standard of measure to know if you’re saved. Do you strive to do His will and do you desire to love Him? We should be agonizing over trying to please Him if we truly love Him. Ty for the message! It was very encouraging!

    1. My question is does God desire to save all Mankind? 2. If God says He has no desire in the death of any soul! Why would He allow them to perish? Does that mean He predistined them for eternal damnation? 3. For God so loved the World that He sent His only Son whosoever believeth should not perish but have everlasting life....for God didn't send the son to condemn the world but rather that the world might be saved through Him. I don't see God Electing any, but it's a General call for Whatever soul should heed the call.

Here are some questions so that you can do some research in an effort to seek the truth: 1) Do you believe God accomplishes everything He sets out to do? Does God fail at the tasks He sets out to accomplish? Did God send the prophets in the old testament to every single nation and town to plead for their repentance? What about those peoples whom God ordered to be exterminated of the face of the earth, did he ask any of them to repent? Hypothetically If God knows who will accept His offer and who will not beforehand then is it logical to waste the blood of redeeming sacrifice on them who will not believe? Are there people in hell currently that Jesus's blood failed to carry to the end as He promised He would? Does God ever choose to put His blessings on one person over the other? 2) the answere to this question is that jesus is stating He takes no sadistic glee in the punishment of the wicked. God does not celebrate the wailing and gnashing of teeth in hell though His justice must be enacted. 3)who are those who come to believe in this passage? How did they come to belief and faith in christ? What is the new birth and what does that mean? How does the heart of stone become a heart of flesh? What is the Holy Spirit and what role does He play in regeneration? As for the last portion it is stating that jesus came to save; if His goal in coming was to condemn then everyone would have perished and the whole earth in entirety would still be under the wrath of God. Instead He came to cover the sins of the multitude that no one can number.

One more question that might clearify: Why would we pray for God to change the hearts of our friends or family members? If its ultimately their choice? or, Why would He let unbelievers be born if He knew they were not going to choose to believe? Romans ch. 9 also says that God still gets glory in the destruction of sinners. He gets glory for His wrath on sinners(glory in His justice) and gets glory for giving salvation to some(glory for His grace).

God being Imagination in man the oldest system that's Devine truth, and thought about God being named I AM is another mystery few churches grasp. Bible being read as history is flesh and blood looking for observations, Luke 17: (left a hint) 20And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: 21Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

For salvation, we just need to follow the way they did it in Acts? They were baptized in water for the removal of sins and filled with the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38! Here's why! The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. If we are to follow him, we must do the same thing. Death= repentance, Burial = baptism, and resurrection = being filled and rising again from the dead and walking in the newness of life. That's what Acts 2:38 is. We must obey the gospel, 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that OBEY NOT THE GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus Christ... Matthew 7:21-23, Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that DOETH THE WILL OF MY FATHER which is in Heaven. St John 3:3-5, EXCEPT a man, be born of WATER AND OF THE SPIRIT, he cannot enter into the kingdom of GOD. We can't come up with our own gospel. Galatians 1:8-9, But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Don't be cursed. One way for all people. Jews, Gentiles, and Samaritans. Our salvation has to match up with the scriptures and no scriptures on the subject can be taken away. Eternity is TOOO long to be WRONG! st, John 5:39, Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. The gospels show what Christ has done on the cross for us. The book of Acts shows us the beginning of Christ's Church and how to enter the Church, obeying Acts 2:38. The letters were written to the Church to show us how to behave now that we are born again into the Church. It's better to walk alone than to walk with a crowd going in the wrong direction. Are we supposed to follow the teachings of the apostles? Acts 2:42, And they continued steadfastly in the apostle's doctrines. Ephesians 2:20, We are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone. Don't get Titus 3:5 mixed up with James 2:14-26, about WORKS. One is a WORK of your OWN RIGHTEOUSNESS OR GOOD DEEDS and the other is a WORK OF FAITH. Titus 1:16, They profess that they know God; but in WORKS they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. God bless you!

Why does the pulpit look like a rock concert? there is about 100k on that stage at least with all the lighting and LCD panels. I know the message is probably Ok, to those outside America, these churches look so worldly. Do American churches get taught worldly separation and about being responsible stewardship? It's all very excessive isn't and it's not a good look to those Christians in the third world that actually need help right now.

Those who choose to follow Christ are the “elect”. If God truly created some for Himself and others for eternal damnation ..... then ( for example #1) what do we say of the times of Noah. That our Lord in that day created 10 or 12 to be saved and millions to be condemned?? Or.. why would any name ever have to be “ blotted out” of the book of life. God Himself would have known not to have those names there in the first place. And there’s more obvious. Calvinist misinterprets.

Clarke McClymont If the doctrine of Calvinism is accurate, it would seem appointing some to be evangelists (Ephesians 4) would be an exercise in futility. I too see the verses that seem to indicate this doctrine but once compared to other like verses and exegesis scripture fully, it doesn’t appear accurate. However.. I do admit... men that I respect, admire and consult do adhere to the doctrine. Namely... RC Sproul. Great man of God. I love his lectures. Learn so much. Also to note is ... our salvation is not contingent on being right or wrong on this matter. It’s perplexing and interesting but peripheral. Be blessed brother!!

I realised, after several families, and kids I met, that they are not going to hell. no way are these good, law abiding, people, with prayers/meditation times, communicating to the 'one true nameless God' and get blessed. therefore, the above sentences, in addition to them tho, that most stories and content, within the book, is mixed well, with good and bad too. so nevertheless, I fell away from the faith, not many people know the truth. I don't hate christians, but they hate me to death. and wishes eternal hell on billions of good people out there. Jesus demands to be called God, morning star. finally, I also fell away, because of the outrageous claims the bible makes. Jesus was crucified, for breaking the laws of his time, and was crucified beside a thief on either side of him. therefore, a sinless man he was not, I think. my nameless God, can bring, world peace, under one God, the nameless God, who loves, and accepts atheists and transgender communities. I pray people wake up. a nameless God, can still be worshiped, as correct doctrine above, all the churches can still remain, the same, just with correct doctrine

God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit. Satan is a "creature" a created being...a fallen Angel. Lucifer is never exactly "named" as Satan...is he? In the Book of Revelation...Satan is called the Devil, that old serpent. Never calls him Lucifer. We assume because of Isaiah...telling us how Lucifer wanted to ascend above God's throne. Isaiah 14:12 "O' Lucifer, son of the morning..." What is Jesus called in Revelation? The Bright and morning star. Rev:22:16. Don't get confused. Jesus is Creator....Satan is created, and he can not create. Be careful with your un-biblical Blasphemy of God. You do not know Him. Nor can you judge Him just or unjust. He is our Creator. And those of us who have been "Chosen" by God... awakened to the New Birth ...are greatly offended when you attack our Glorious God. Try reading Isaiah 53... What Jesus did for His Chosen. You can not understand. You are still just the "natural" unsaved man in 1 Corninthians 2:14. To you...it's all foolishness...neither can you know it. 🔥
