It was entertaining at times and the style is flattering. I would say you have to be a certain kind of person to sit all the way through and not get bored a lot. But Johnny makes it watchable, thank God. One of my favorite roles of his. I'm glad he does diverse roles like this because I respect him a lot for it. This film could have been really bad. I wish the critics weren't so harsh about it fr. Every movie has flaws, but that doesn't make it a bad movie. 💁♀️ some of my favorite movies bore me a lot, but it's too good to hate. @Doc-Devin
2 жыл бұрын
Going to Angelique would obviously be the last thing he'd try given all the horrible things she's done to him and his family. He knows she'll reject or manipulate him and he's too proud to let it happen. With how amazing modern technology seemed to him, he probably thought she was like a modern witch that could essentially reverse the effects of his vampirism using this amazing medical technology
Sounds like a fantasy version of Johnny depp’s real life now.

Designated Hero: Sure, Angelique is an Ax-Crazy Wicked Witch Yandere, but are we seriously going to overlook the fact that Barnabas is the one who toyed with her emotions, murdered way more people than Angelique did, and received no punishment afterwards? Not to mention, him constantly cheating on "Victoria". 1) He didn't toy with her. In the prologue, he outright states to her that his attraction was purely physical and continues to claim as such throughout the movie. He does admit at the end that he did have some feelings for her, but was put off by her Yandere mindset. 2) Also doesn't being buried alive for 196 years count as a punishment?
@miloradowicz

Are we going to ignore the fact that he is a human eating monster with little regard for human life? His crimes against that single woman are minor at best, but what about all the lives he ended? Dark Shadows had a pretty sizable cult following for many years (including a yearly convention for fans that still continues today). NBC actually relaunched the soap in 1991 but bad timing killed it (Desert Storm happened after the third episode and it was interrupted so much that it was cancelled after just 12 episodes. They even tried to bring it bck in 2004 and there's another pilot that the creators hope will get picked up.
How can you say no to Eva Green, especially when she's simping for you??
Poor Johnny! Always surrounded by bloodsuckers in reel life and real life.. 😔
From Victoria to Veronica to Victoria again😂
You know the scheme of the eternal punishment of turning a lover or you turn him into a vampire, trap him in a coffin for 200 years and punish his family just to come back 200 years later and doing all again reminds me of Tessa punishing Silas and Amara with eternity of pain after betrayal in vampire diaries.

Very good movie, I recommend you watch it. Johnny Depp nailed the character!
The scene where he looks at the McDonald's logo and mistakes it with Mephistopheles' sigil made me cackle so hard at the the movies, the whole room was laughing. In the late 1990s to early 2000s, there was this stupid urban legend that McDonald's was from the Devil because apparently Protestant parents doesn't want to see their children enjoying things and Fast Food were a pretty new thing here. With time, these legends became too ridiculous to believe, even though to this day many "churches" point out things that way. So I guess this scene triggered those memories on those people.
