BURANO VENICE ITALY

ISLAND OF BURANO VENICE ITALY
welcome, today we visit burano
All visitors to Bùrano are fascinated by its many colours, by the colored houses which are reflected in the green waters of the canals, by the crooked bell tower, by its tranquillity, and by the calm with which the old ladies embroider the original Burano lace, with their tombolo, while, among themselves, they laugh and chat in the campielli. It seems to be in paradise, children whizzing around free with their bicycles, colorful balconies thanks to the colors of the flowers, fishermen hoisting the freshly caught fish from their typical boats.
Once you get off the actv vaporetto, you find yourself in a green meadow, where a solemn sculpture by the Buranello artist Remigio Barbaro is placed, then continuing, you immerse yourself in the banks that lead to the main street. Arrived in Piazza Galuppi, the only one on the island, the kind ladies who own the shops invite the most curious tourist to enter, to admire the lace making.
the Church of San Martino Vescovo is located in Piazza Galuppi. Inside it, as well as many other important works, there is a famous canvas by Gian Battista Tiepolo. Next to the church stands the Chapel of Santa Barbara.
Still in the same square, there is the Lace Museum, the Town Hall, the well made entirely of Istrian stone, and the statue of Baldassare Galuppi by Remigio Barbaro, a well-known sculptor from Buranello.
Among the narrow streets of Burano, you can admire the various capitals, placed at the entrance to the calli, up to the most famous house on the island, "the House of Bepi Suà", painted with the use of many colors, divided into geometric shapes.
On the island of Burano, it is therefore worth going into the calli, alleys, and alleys, outside the usual loop that leads to the square. To fully enjoy Burano, you need to "get lost". For example, one of the most beautiful views of the colored houses, which extend along the banks, is certainly the one from the "Tre Ponti", a wooden bridge that connects three banks.
The colors of the houses, which today have become the main feature of the island, once served to delimit the properties. However, there is a "legend" linked to the colorful character of the island, which tells that it was the fishermen who painted their houses, in order to recognize it from afar, during the long periods of absence due to fishing.
