Anybody who is close to their dog knows that they communicate and knows words. The button technique is just a wonderful tool. What I find interesting is that scientists are only just beginning to realize this. Where have they been all these centuries. The internet is filled with authentic instances of both wild and domesticated animals communicating with humans and each other. I had a horse who had a vocabulary of at least 25 worlds and there could have been more had I taken the time to work with him. Once I was trail riding in a large gated pasture with a friend and neither one of us wanted to dismount to open a gate and I jokingly said : Blaze go open the gate. And to our amazement he did without ever being trained before. We humans need to open our minds and our hearts to the wonders of life all around us.

human's hardly understand what conciseness really is, and i believe at a base level most animals share a similar conciseness to us it is just a matter of training to learn to communicate without the type of vocal cords, lips and tung that we to to make these sounds. now their intelligence might not be as capable as ours but lets not forget humans only vary vary recently in the grand scheme of things have gotten to this level of advancement but that was built off of hundreds of generations of out species most intellectual individuals passing down there collective knowledge to their children in the hopes to continue where they "leave off." its true our species has come a long way from the jungles of Africa where we supposedly all originated and that with every year, every new tech release, every war humans have advanced further and further but lets not forget the "great holy wars" that wheren't so great or holy and all the library's the vadican had burned down during it and how that set humanity back hundreds of years of advancement... humans can vary easily lose the little amount of ground they have made. we need to remember we are not intellectual god's compared to other animals, we are just better at teaching each other and communication souly thanks to out parents, teachers, and the construction of stone library's and school houses to be able to educate the masses. without those were just more animals in the forest along side them.

I had a similar experience with my miniature poodle. On a whim I said to him as he was napping, "Kobi, Nyla's outside." To my utter surprise he squealed as he instantly jumped up off the couch and ran full force to to back door waiting with his nose pressed against the crack and tail wagging in anticipation of me opening the door. Once I did he made a bee line for the fence where he always met his friend, Nyla, who was my neighbor's dog. They would run up and down the fence together. I didn't even know he knew her name. I had only said her name maybe a handful of times or less in front of him and never directly to him. I never had tried to get him to understand her name because I didn't think he would get it. Not only did he know instantly who I was referring to but, he also understood what the situation was. Nyla was outside. And, he took action. There wasn't any long stares of trying to understand what I was saying. It was instant. I never underestimated his ability to understand language ever again, and would talk to him all the time. I have no doubt he would've learned to use these buttons (lost him in 2016 at the age of 18 and I still miss him). He also recognized himself in the mirror too. I love dogs.

After barking my head off for roughly 3 weeks, I managed to teach my dog to speak or "tell me" for treats. Not only does she "tell me" when she wants a cookie but will "tell me" when she wants to go outside, go for a ride, etc. As for the "fake comment" below, my dog may not "speak" English, but she does get her point across which after all is communicating.

Anybody ever heard of Jim The Wonder Dog? This dog could do amazing things, he picked winners of the Kentucky Derby, could pick a woman in a pink pokadot dress out of a crowd of 50+ people, we have a memorial garden in his name here in Marshall, Mo. He is also buried in one of our cemeteries. Dr's from The University of Missouri studied him, but all said they could not explain why he was so smart. He did a lot more things that his owner and the townspeople talked about. True and Amazing story.

Bunny isn't the first button pushing dog but she is good at it. When I worked at Petco I read a book unfortunately I don't remember the name or author back in 2004 in between serving customers that said dogs can understand up to 200 short words, phrases, and tones of vocalizations. I trained a Maltese to understand as much as a small child based off that she knew everyone's name and could approach them by name one by one even if they were located in different areas of the home she would find that specific person and she could do more, that amazed everyone who ever met her I only used words I didn't even reward her often. So I do believe Bunny knows what's she's doing. In the wild wolves are social animals and use behavior, body language and vocalizations to manage their pack so if a short word with certain vowels mimic what they can recognize then this is no different, repetitious training can render similar results with just spoken words.

Lol. There are millions of their videos unedited all over the internet. They’re also being studied by a university where all of their conversations are recorded from their home and data sent to the school. Doubt it would have gone on this long without anyone especially a research program noticing if it was faked. Bunny isn’t the first animal to be able to pick up on and understand words, phrases, and sentences. Im not understanding why this seems so far fetched to you.

@@jasminejohnson4850 It's a known phenomenon that speech-assistants subconsciously push their own interpretation. We know most animals are capable of communication, we just can't confirm complex expressions reliably exist when separated from the subject's handler. This holds true for communication with human beings, too. Koko the gorilla and Facilitated Communication are prime examples of this phenomenon.

Hecwas last of.the litter to sell. Over sized. Both were very smart. Got the terrier guy when living alone later in life so had more time to train him. Just spend a half hr. but.do it everyday. At least train then to not be a pain and safety commands and leash.

Is there more footage? I’m very skeptical of this. None of it is simultaneous. It looks like she told her dog to push a certain butting in between cuts. What happened before the video started? If the dog had a splinter in its paw wouldn’t it be putting weight on its other front leg? Also the woman clearly rotated her hand out as if she was asking for the dogs paw and the dog gave its paw. I think it’s more likely this is creative editing. Maybe I’m wrong but that clip that was shown doesn’t prove anything other than 3 separate cuts of a dog pushing a button twice and then giving its paw.
