Chopin would have been so proud
I first heard his interpretation of this piece when I was around 5? 6? years old on a CD that my parents owned... I'm 23 now and this is still my favourite one.

So awkward not to hear raging applause after such a performance.
Silence of audience is due to impact of it. Breathtaking performance !

Not true. It was a competition where he was playing pieces one after another. It would be rude of the audience to clap
The sound has rich quality which is really like revolutionary etude wow
Piękno muzyki Fryderyka Chopina to fenomen graniczący z cudem.
the best interpretation ever!!
To me it's the best interpretation and performance of all.
Awesome!!!!!! I Love this. It's my best Theme in my life. Bunin's Chopin Etude Op. 10-12 is especially for me. This music comfort & up rising to struggle to me, so many times. Thank you, God, Chopin & Mr. Bunin.

Agree
Seldom to hear his whereabouts..
De arrepiar

my god!!!!!
😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
He play it like goa trance in early phaze with his left pinky 00:16 ~. 1995~98 Goa with Roland tb 303 bass line.
nice tempo
Geniusz😃😍🥰🤩🤩🤩🤩😛🤩🤩🤩
I’ve watched a couple of Kissin performances of this and am trying to resist saying any one performance is better. Kissin’s sound a bit more controlled and interpretative but if you like speed and excitement, it’s hard to beat this one. Plus it looks like he went straight on to another piece!

I should perhaps add that I LOVE the Bunin performance above but don’t want to undervalue other performances. I first heard this Etude in the 1980s accompanying a pairs skating performance at the Winter Olympics

Here’s an excerpt from the skating. A different musical experience, but the endeavour and excellence of the skaters is evident kzread.info/dash/bejne/mHqCqtyLk8K2ZMY.html
what a bad mistake to make with the opus number being wrong in the subtitle at the beginning. 0:10

@skiboy90 The only one thing that matter is the musicailty, no the notes, he can play with all the notes and without musicality.
One of the greatest masters of the keyboard I have ever seen! Master of the grand gesture, this mega-exciting virtuoso should have risen to the top of his profession. How sad for him and an adoring public that as of age 52, (2018), this has not happened. But there is still hope!

This performance would not be perfect without those perfect mistakes, each of them in the perfect moment...
Lovely, but I wish he attacked some sections a little harder...at times it started to blend together, and I didn't hear each note breath. It could be quality of the recording as well. Still, what was he 20? Amazing dedication and skill.
A very find interpretation. Mistake at 1:46. Well, he is human.

Lol. So easy to point all the mistakes and so hard to recognize his talent.

@sesquipedalian I never said its bad, I love this performance, but I can't stand the people who are like "well let's see you play it then". People can say what they want to say.

@sesquipedalian well, the way he worded it sounded like he wanted the original commenter to post a better performance of this etude.
There is a mistake at 1:48 and 1:49! But however this is a great performance! Perfect tempo!
