It's a made in China copy of the Glock field knife. Is it any good?

Well, I applied JB weld to the tang/handle and I also pinned the blade with a hardwood dowel. I beat this knife into twisty hardwood and it had no issues after my mods. I actually really like this knife now.

Thanks for the review and test. I just picked up one of these to see if it was any good and found your review. I have a real Glock knife and was curious to see if anyone else had batoned with the clone version. My suspicions were correct- it's not a hard use knife without mods. Out of curiosity, which version of JB Weld did you use? Thanks, Jason

@@RockyMountainBushcraft Not knowing all the flavors of JB weld, I used the steel reinforced type that comes out dark gray. Although, any epoxy will do, IME.

@@theWZZA Thanks. I was actually able to get a better edge on the Chinese clone than on my real Glock knife. The carbon steel on my real Glock knife is tough, but the heat treatment is very strange. It might be the only carbon steel blade I've owned (and I have a ton of them) that's been hard/weird to sharpen. By comparison, my Ontario 1095 blades become scalpel sharp if I even breath on them with a sharpener. The Glock knife carbon steel also has a strange odor to it that is pretty overwhelming, even after stripping all the oils off the blade and washing it with Dawn dishsoap several times. No other carbon steel blades I've owned have smelled like this. It imparts a foul odor and taste during food prep. So I might do what you did and epoxy the handle of the Chinese clone on and use it in place of the real Glock knife. If for some reason the epoxy breaks loose, it's not the end of the world. I have a bunch of other knives that are much higher quality that I carry for serious survival use so it's not a big deal.

@@RockyMountainBushcraft Thanks for sharing that info. I guess I will not pursue acquiring a real Glock 78 as it is probably not a significant improvement. Plenty of other things to spend on. The steel on this clone is not great, but not horrible, either. Probably 5Cr or 3Cr. To me that is serviceable for a beater. I recommend pinning the blade as well. There is a nice hole at the end of the tang. I just marked where the hole would be on the handle and drilled. It worked out fine and the knife is bombproof now.

Awesome video. I enjoy watching reviews of inexpensive items more than I do expensive items. If a $20 item can do a pretty decent job, then it really makes you want to go buy it, I guess it has the attraction of an impulse buy. Mostly unrelated: Have you ever owned a Svord Peasant knife? They're made in New Zealand with a Swedish high carbon steel blade and patterned after a medieval folding peasant knife. The way the blade tang locks into your grip is something I haven't seen before. They're inexpensive at only $20 on Amazon and I've heard amazing things. I don't own one but I've been meaning to. I mention it because it seems like a simple outdoorsman's tool that you might like.

Here in austria you dont like and dont hate them but nearly everybody got one of these... Mine was stolen from a austrian soldier in 1979 and he gave it to me nearly 30 years later and its like new. And a better sheet for it is the us m8 a1 sheet

2 part epoxy would be great to fix the blade back to the grip, its a fighting knife for stabbing and cutting in a fight, not really a outdoor camping knife. great vid

Are they actually use this in military since it's called military knife? How good would you say this knife to kill people? Is your name G.wang?

I would say it is a low grade stainless. Doesn't take a razor edge, has low edge retention.

@@theWZZAI meant the real Glock knife. Sorry about the confusion. Depends on which generation of Glock knife you have. I have the newest one of the production line. I swear bro, it is scary sharp. I can slice letters in a piece of paper. It evolved from a bayonet to a pure combat knife. Amazing.

@@maximus512 That is good to know, thanks for sharing. I expect that from carbon steel.
