I honestly think people were happier, because people had less,back doors not locked ,neighbour's would always chat even put oven on ect if parents were late finishing work.collections for families who had had a bereavement for flowers, street parties.i was once asked if I would of ever change anything from my childhood...not a thing I told them!

She won it so quickly they didn't have time to switch the prize for the speedboat!😂

They were the best back then, such simple times. The singles chart was decided by actual sales, not all this complicated streaming. Okay, almost all the shops were shut on those Sundays with nothing much to do apart from watch the TV, but what fantastic TV it was!. Division 1 football match and Bullseye, only for school the next day to follow!.

You're half right but the prizes on UK game shows were laughable compared their American equivalents at the time. ITV was better than the BBC. The BBC was particularly notorious for small prizes - still is... Look at Pointless, you'd be lucky to win five grand on there.

@@SpeccyHorace Bullseye is from ITV, a commercial channel, but I take your point. The BBC is a bit tight fisted. On Pointless the daily prize tends to be under 3 or 4 thousand. The daily £1000 rolls over if it isn't won, but it often is. The contestants probably get a couple of hundred just for appearing on the show so the prize money isn't great. Add a zero on the end £10,000, and now you're talking.

It never ceases to amaze me how quickly Jim wants to get the whole thing over as fast as humanly possible once the darts are landed. “Well done, you’ve won, get over there, start waving, piss off the lot of you!”

I don't think I was seeing things, but wasn't the winning contestants prize money counted out twice, once in the studio where Jim Bowen gave them their prize money from the table they stood around when they don't take the gamble or lost the gamble, and once in the area where the prize was hiding behind bully. Because when the winning team won the gamble their money was together with the star prize.

I loved watching Bullseye on a Sunday evening. This is classic 80's TV viewing. Most of those prizes were decent state of the art gear in those days.

They usually did. Then pushed out the prize they wanted to get rid of if the contestents won. I remember a quiz programme review thing where someone who worked on the programme saying they had an excellent deal ti get the cars and the boats were more expencive. Usually had both backstage and more often than not pushed out the car if it was a win and the boat if they lost

It’s moments like this that makes Bullseye the greatest game show ever! And the ooooh from the women in the audience when the prize reveal super smashing great!

No Internet, no reality shows , a lot of rain and one telly in the living room and mum was in charge of the remote. Growing up in 80's Britain this was considered drama. So glad we now live in a world where it's so easy to reminisce

I love it when Jim repeadly pointed at the camera and made them wave!!! Nearly every episode.

What we DO need to address is your desertion from the greatest place on earth ( a little biased, admittedly ). I, too, had enough by 1982 and on 9/5/83 I moved out from the heart of South East London just 10 miles and have had a fantastic further 37 years on the periphery just 1/2 mile from a London Postal Code. I can , honestly, tell you that I have had only 2 problems in all those years both with 30 year old Males who, at different times, were neighbours of mine. One was a cocky little Stockbroker and the other was just an insecure xxxx. For me, it's the best of all Worlds living here as Pre-Covid I could "use" London's multi-farius attractions and yet be in the heart of Kent within 20 minutes t'other way. We have 96 Open Spaces within a 7 mile radius and all I had to do was move 10 miles away from off The Old Kent Road, where my heart still is. Why on earth would you think I had any Scottish connection anyway, my son? Answer: I love "The Skye Boat Song". Every fibre of me is English, my friend. Where did you move to and how long ago ?

Well, they say travel broadens the mind but....:)It would have been quicker to list the Regions you haven't stayed in,mon ami :)Taking my 2 dogs (Dad and Daughter )and their Mum and Sister who live in my road to our local: Danson Park now in Bexley which is 50 yards away (CHEAP side lol ) and you can see it's right on the very edge of my beloved S E London. That’s when 155 pounds was still 155 pounds! Thats probably the most genuine heartfelt affectionate hug I’ve ever seen two people exchange on TV! And that would’ve really been a prize worth having in the 1980’s! I wouldn’t mind winning that myself only my kitchen at home isn’t big enough to accommodate all those appliances.

I, too loved Bullseye. Bully's Bellow was funny. I remember Bully walking across the screen, with a dictionary, and pointing to the letters. Jim Bowen used to rub the contestants's noses in it, when he said, "It's probably the cruellest saying on Television. Let's have a look at what you would have won".

The highlight of my childhood Sunday before mother added another gallon of lacquer and we all headed to the working mans club for bingo. If we were flush, a pot of prawns when the seafood man came in with his wicker basket of delights

We never missed bully, and i actually remember this - fantastic

Love it brings backs memories from years ago watching it with the whole family after Sunday tea.Those days it looked so good!

Sundays were brilliant, in the morning go to the cafe, then watch some friends playing sunday league football, then in the pub and sink a gallon, back to moms for a sunday roast, fall asleep on the couch, then wake up to a bit of bully when the theme tune started, watch that then get ready for the evening session in the pub,,,, happy days

Loved how Jim never used to let them celebrate, he was always more concerned with wrestling them into position for the camera and never forgot to drop in what TV region they were from!

Best quiz show of all time. Jim is a legend. The show was unprofessional, many of the prizes were awful .... but its that what made it the best show lol. Just the simple things, like the guys were due £180 and Jim pulls out a wad of £200 and says "I'll take £20 off that, you take the rest. That's £90 a piece you know!"

Tony "180" Green was best on "Meet Ricky Gervais".

Great Sunday evening memories back in the 80s,don't make shows like that anymore sadly. Always wondered though how they split a car or a speedboat if they won 😂😂😂

Sue used to play darts years before this,she was in the county league,played for the white Hart .

Would have loved it if in one episode the non darts player had taken Tony's advice that they had all the time in the world.

Ah. Sunday afternoons, everyone in England tuned in to Bullesye. Golden memories - all the family, cups of tea, cat purring on lap. Jim Bowen was just brilliant...40 years later his catchphrases are STILL used: Super, Smashing, Great, Listen ta Tone-ah' , Keep out of the black and in the red...nothing in this game for 2 in a bed, Come and See What Ya Would've Won, Ya Cant beat a bit of Bully, your charity money....thats saaaaaafe, all you get is ya BFH...ya bus fair home God BLESS

Watching a load of reboots that failed (Family fortunes, Catchphrase, Blockbusters) shows how the host matters more than the format of the game does. No one that came to fame after 2000 has any idea about hosting a gameshow - even those that have been doing so for many years. Ben Shephard, Richard Osmon et al... None come close to the old-fashioned variety entertainers like Bob Monkhouse, Bruce Forsythe and Michael Barrymore.

Love how all the pipes from the washer and fridge are just out everywhere! Couldn’t give a shit on bullseye! The look on her face when that 2nd treble went in! More jam than Hartleys!

she had the concentration of someone who'd played the game a bit so bit harsh to say lucky. Her posture and steady focus was superb.

I loved Jim, great presenter, and what fantastic prizes. Can you imagine telling a woman these days to put an apron on? That would never fly 😁

When tv was better than the tripe that's on these days. Bullseye one of my all-time favorite programs

Just watching this episode on Challenge TV tonight. What a great show it was, and I’m so sad we lost Tony Green recently. Bullseye brings back so many happy childhood memories, and I sincerely miss it!

I am glad Jim did the right and socially acceptable thing by giving the Lady. the Apron. Well Played, Sir...!

How he ever survived " come and lets show you what you COULD have won" I will never know.

I can personally guarantee that sometimes on Bullseye the 'non dart thrower' was absolutely a club dart thrower

Considering she nearly fainted after hitting T19 I think it's fair to say she was just glad to hit the board.

absolute legendary 2 darts them. i remember watching it. incredible stuff.

@@mattbastubee5255 that was the final. They had another 4 people playing during the show. You had to get 101 or over to win bullys 🌟 prize. The finalists get 6 darts , 3 darts each but she won the 🌟 with 2 darts

@@mattbastubee5255 btw the couple who won the 🌟 prize. More than likely came second in the show but the winner's took their prizes from bullies prize board (very different to a dart board). So the chance is given to the couple in second place and even 3rd if the 2nd couple take their money.

"Put the apron on." Lol the amount of complaints if that was aired now... This was the best era for TV. So many good shows, which were far more entertaining than repetitive crap like strictly and I'm a celebrity.

This episode was on Challenge TV just the other day. I didn't remember it even though we watched Bullseye every week back then, but that was truly incredible.

Bloody hell. Eighty quid would have gone a lot further then than it does now.

Bullseye is coming on my feed a lot since I searched that Pembrokeshire murderer bloke who was on the show..

It’s only now that we appreciate a lemon yellow jacket goes so well with a black shirt and tie.

A girl who lived just a few doors away from me won a new kitchen, and all the appliances, couldn't believe what I was seeing when I saw her on the show.
