Bulls @ Knicks 1993 ECF Game 5: Michael Jordan 29/10/14.

Спорт

After his legendary 54 point outing in Game 4, the talk leading up to Game 5 was which MJ was going to show up? The one who'll go for 50+ or the one to set up his teammates and take over late? Or would it even matter considering NY hadn't lost a home game since JANUARY FREAKING 28! The Bulls hadn't defeated them in their building all season and most of the meetings were embarassing blowouts.
Either way, MJ approached this humungous game in traditional fashion. Expertly dishing out 12 of his 14 assists in the first 3 qtrs and scoring 17 of his 29 points in the final 14 minutes of the game. His 13th assist ended up being the GW winning basket when he set up BJ Armstrong a wide open for 3 with 75 seconds left.
This game, of course, features the unforgettable ending with Charles Smith getting stuffed 4 straight times right under the basket with a chance to make the GW layup.

As a Bulls fan, this was an all time classic to watch; I remember watching the end of this game like it was yesterday ... I was 22 .... and, man, from 5:42-5:51, I was on my feet, leaping in the air and screaming, 'Nyyyaaarrrgghhhh!!' lol; 19 years later I Still can Not believe the Knicks missed ALL those layups. One of the most heart stopping endings of a game, Ever. After the Bulls went down 2-0 in this series, I thought for sure they were done. One of the greatest series of all time.

What a game this was. Still remember it going until after mignight because I had to get up early in the morning, but I couldn't go to bed during a game this big. So worth staying up for. The Knicks had us so down winning Games 1 & 2 both. What a comeback they pulled off winning 4 straight games to take the series against an extremely well coached and talented New York team.

Man, I look at this game and I can still remember the thrill and edge of my seat excitement of this series. There was absolutely nothing like it. This is also why I say MJ was the best, because of what Mike went up against. Besides Magic and Bird going up against one another, I don't know if any other champion had the obstacles that MJ had and still dominated.

The following season MJ retired so nobody knows if the Knicks get to the finals that year. I think Jordan was in his prime here in 1993. Cuz he had many injuries during the playoffs with his ankle and then his wrist but It still barely slowed him down. In the regular season It was known he wasn't trying as hard and losing instrest but he still put great numbers, 33-7-6 50%. In the playoffs his shooting percentage dipped a little to 48% for the playoffs but If It wasn't for the injuries It would have probably been way higher. Remember in this series he shot 40% because of his wrist but once he finally got healthy he put up the greatest finals performance of all time.

Incredible that Jordan and the Bulls were really revolutionary in the sense that the NBA had always had championship teams led by big men down in the low post. All most every champion, if not all of them, had a legitimate superstar big man in the low post. You couldn't win without one, INCLUDING YOU, KOBE. Jordan was really the first guard to do it without a legitimate superstar big man down in the low block... Unless of course you consider Luc Longley a legitimate SUPERSTAR big man.

In my opinion, all the MJ´s games Vs Knicks, were the best. I remember that sunday when Charles Smith jump and jump under the basket and then lost the ball... good video!.... I almost forget, the Al Pacino´s Look on P.Riley.. Go Knicks!
