Bulls @ Knicks 1993 ECF Game 5: Michael Jordan 29/10/14.
Спорт
After his legendary 54 point outing in Game 4, the talk leading up to Game 5 was which MJ was going to show up? The one who'll go for 50+ or the one to set up his teammates and take over late? Or would it even matter considering NY hadn't lost a home game since JANUARY FREAKING 28! The Bulls hadn't defeated them in their building all season and most of the meetings were embarassing blowouts.
Either way, MJ approached this humungous game in traditional fashion. Expertly dishing out 12 of his 14 assists in the first 3 qtrs and scoring 17 of his 29 points in the final 14 minutes of the game. His 13th assist ended up being the GW winning basket when he set up BJ Armstrong a wide open for 3 with 75 seconds left.
This game, of course, features the unforgettable ending with Charles Smith getting stuffed 4 straight times right under the basket with a chance to make the GW layup.

As a Bulls fan, this was an all time classic to watch; I remember watching the end of this game like it was yesterday ... I was 22 .... and, man, from 5:42-5:51, I was on my feet, leaping in the air and screaming, 'Nyyyaaarrrgghhhh!!' lol; 19 years later I Still can Not believe the Knicks missed ALL those layups. One of the most heart stopping endings of a game, Ever. After the Bulls went down 2-0 in this series, I thought for sure they were done. One of the greatest series of all time.

Jordan played magnificent in those important playoff games.
in the end. jordan running to the locker room like a boss!
This video reminds us of how athletic and how high of a basketball I.Q. Pippen, Grant, and Jordan had on that final possession.

Smith should of passed it to another teammate, instead he got stopped while doing a layup, then the bulls got a fastbreak to beat the Knicks.
looks like Horace made the initial block, then again with MJ, then Pippen. Loved these Chicago/NY games. Gave me heart attacks at the time sometimes...but always worth watching!!!
What a game this was. Still remember it going until after mignight because I had to get up early in the morning, but I couldn't go to bed during a game this big. So worth staying up for. The Knicks had us so down winning Games 1 & 2 both. What a comeback they pulled off winning 4 straight games to take the series against an extremely well coached and talented New York team.
This is one of the top 5 games of all time. And on of the most intense games from start to finish. I really miss these types of game.
The golden age of the NBA. God I miss the 90's.
"Smith ! Smith ! Smith stopped ! Smith stopped again !!!" what great defense to close out the game

When Charles Smith retired, the NY Post headline said: "Charles Smith: The End of an Error"
Pippen's first block on Smith's shot is really vicious. This was NBA playoff basketball at the highest level. Most of the players in todays league cannot play at this level. Thanks for posting this classic.
RIP Anthony Mason
Fucking Pippen. The greatest defensive small forward ever,
his pull up jumper at 4:08 is just unreal.

One of the best players ever, his midrange pull ups, fade-aways and footwork was flawless. Kobe is next in line but MJ was the man
This was one of the very best games I ever saw!
Scottie Pippen killed the Knicks in this series! And all the sweeter since Knick fans kept criticizing him going into this series. Like marv albert said "Again Scottie Pippen has hit the big shot" during game 6, and in this game he had 29 pts and the biggest defensive play of the game.
amazing!!! one of the best defensive stops in NBA history!! nick fans did not know what to do! completely stunned by Chicago Defense!! Bulls-Knicks 90's nba = AMAZING!!
Man, I look at this game and I can still remember the thrill and edge of my seat excitement of this series. There was absolutely nothing like it. This is also why I say MJ was the best, because of what Mike went up against. Besides Magic and Bird going up against one another, I don't know if any other champion had the obstacles that MJ had and still dominated.
knicks fans still crying

this was one of the greateset series in modern basketball .... this game was just epic.
Before the back injuries in the mid-90's, Pippen was THE BEST coast to coast player in the NBA. I have to agree that along with the flu game and Game 6 aginst Utah in '98, this was the best and most intense playoff game I've ever seen.
remember this game like if it was yesterday.. classic!
I know lol..and the look back from Jordan and Pippen while he was on the floor was great!
wow jordan said he wanted 10 assists and he got it....along with a triple double....that man was truly amazing
One of the greatest games ever.
That's what John Stark said in the one interview that Michael Jordan what's like a surgical basketball player he knows how to kill you how to beat you he scored 54 points in the previous game he knew they were going to double-team him in the next game because they knew he was on fire so he distributed the ball and killed them with a triple double he was just smart like he plays, with his mind
NBA TODAY: 1.colorful shoes 2.soft defense 3. NBA PLAYERS only plays for the money.. NBA IN THE 90s 1. ADRENALINE 2.PHYSICAL.... 3.SOLID DEFENSE. 4.PLAYERS ARE UNSTOPPABLE LIKE MICHAEL JORDAN 5.PLAYERS HAS LOVE FOR THE GAME.

loved the knicks expression at the end
Great series and game. I remember that none of the sportscasters in NYC thought Smith was fouled. The whole series was very physical.
I would have loved to have seen this 30 year old Jordan at the peek of his powers in the prime of his career take on Kobe with Shaq and the Lakers as well as Lebron and Wade in Miami. What a great show that would be! This MJ is the greatest player of all time!

One of the greatest rivalries in NBA history: Bulls v. Knicks
the greatest game i've ever seen.
thanks for this!
greatest definition of a team ever assembled...armstrong, hodges, and paxon on the 3-point threat, pippen and jordan the olymipic allstar players, the defensive center cartwright who didn't need to score with people like jordan on the team, Grant the true fundamental power forward! Beautiful!
When MJ says he's gonna do it...He's gonna do it and more.
sweet ol memories. great video.
I remember during that time for us this was a so-so game for Michael Jordan like he was so dominant that numbers like this for him where nothing he was just insane
i love this kind of game " no blood no foul"
Love it. Listen to the crowd at the end. Amazing.

4:31 that collision xD. 5:40 hahahaha even making the final layup. *grabs ball and slams out of rage* hahahaha damn Ewing got complete lockdown.
Nothing better than seeing MJ in those Air Jordan 8's
i was 7 years old living in brooklyn at this time. my father was/is a huge knicks fan but we couldn't help but love Jordan. the kids these days really missed out on Mike's greatness..smh
with Jordan upstoppable, we must pay respect to this Knicks team who battled all the way and never gave up!! Pat Riley, you are the best coach.
best player i have ever seen on TV NBA !!!!!!
Still to this day the greatest basketball game I ever saw and the greatest defensive stand a team makes at the end of the game. They just dont play games like this anymore
5:42 "Ewing for Smith... Smith... stripped, Smith, stopped, SMITH STOPPED AGAIN BY PIPPEN! WHAT A PLAY BY SCOTTIE PIPPEN!" I miss the Nba on NBC with Marv Albert. What an epic finish and call.
one of the best game ever !!!
Stark did it one dam time in NY-MJ did it every dam game-the man was the best ever-it was 1992 playoff!!
The Czar's laugh after the MJ jumper at 2:50..explains it all.
thank you
The thing about these games between the Knicks and Bulls was that the Knicks always held in there, they always kept it close and they always played hard against the bulls, these were great games, I miss 90's basketball.
i miss the 90's nba... mj = GOAT.
I love it.... I was thirteen back in the day, seeing it now is even much sweeter. 3:29,lol its like butter starks, watch your step, don't fall, he's that good!!!!
I miss these types of games as well. I guess we're just old timers now!
when MJ was mouthing the words he cant guard me was against the cavs in 93 and he was takling about gerald wilkens
That defensive sequence might be those Bulls defining moment.
jordan is mainly known for all the high flying dunks and whatnot, but he had the greatest midrange game in nba history. its not even close really. this was mostly due to his perfect shooting form. his pull up and fadeaway were just money. its beautiful to watch.
You don't see defense this perfect today in the NBA.
After the win, Jordan walking off like a boss!
"Smith no! Stripped by Michael! Smith again blocked! Smith again blocked! Smith again...the rebound finally Horace! Ahead to Michael! 3 SECONDS! 2! AHEAD TO BJ! HE LAYS IT UP, GOOOOOOOOOOD! THE BULLS WIN! 95-94!"

Check those Air Jordan 8 "Playoffs" out on Jordan's feet. Brilliance!
You felt the air go out of Madison Square Garden as we run off the floor, And I'm sure there were quite a few people in that building thinking this is last time we will see this New York knick team this year!
That was the day i developed severe stomach problems cheering for my Knicks!
wow what a game! jordan and pippen--best duo ever.
This was the best Knicks team in my mind they really had the bulls on the ropes. I know they made the finals in '94 but this was their best team. The following season MJ retired so nobody knows if the Knicks get to the finals that year. I'll never forget watching this game in my house on the south side of Chicago I was only 10 it was a Wednesday night. This rivalry was something else and it was one of many that's what today's game is lacking.
That place went SILENT when they saw the final possession
What a game, and what a classic by Marv and Michael. "Jordan, YES! Michael Jordan..." Oh man, I tell you, I don't know how any New Yorker can watch this video and not want to throw their monitor out the window. As a Blazer fan I still cannot bring myself to watch highlights of Game 7 of the 2000 WCF.
Those were the days!
5:28(apx. 27.- seconds) was one of the best defensive sequences, in the regular season or playoffs, to close/win a game. Jordan contests a shot, livingston plays good D, jordan gets a strip, and smith (newyork) gets blocked 4 times. Marv Albert will go down as one of the best NBA commentators ever.
Aye underrated game by Jordan
I recall watching this...hahaha I was like damn this guy is good!!! I was like 11 or 12...my goodness...MJ was ahead of his time.
Great vid men. You have game 1,2,3 and 6, i can't find it.
lol at Pat Riley's smile at 2:26, like, I'll never beat this guy....
I think Jordan was in his prime here in 1993. Cuz he had many injuries during the playoffs with his ankle and then his wrist but It still barely slowed him down. In the regular season It was known he wasn't trying as hard and losing instrest but he still put great numbers, 33-7-6 50%. In the playoffs his shooting percentage dipped a little to 48% for the playoffs but If It wasn't for the injuries It would have probably been way higher. Remember in this series he shot 40% because of his wrist but once he finally got healthy he put up the greatest finals performance of all time.

the man was straight up bored. he was definitely at his peak lol
ahha Classic Game. BJ w/ the go-ahead shot!
The last sequence was a classic. No one in the NY media (I was living in NY at the time) thought Smith got fouled, an opinion I completely agree with. It was that type of series where the play from start to finish was very physical, the refs were not going to bail you out and no one expected it.
Great Era. No foul called either on Ewing (possible offensive foul) or on the Bulls vs Smith. That's basketball !!!!! Physical style !!!
i remember my brother and i watching this during a late hot spring my moms making fried chicken and no air conditioning. but boy did we enjoy this game. if u look closely the bulls never fouled smith. it was all clean blocks. my house went nuts being that we were all bulls fans, living in nyc. lol
phil jackson at the end must respect, letting his player getting in 1st before he step inside the locker room.
Incredible that Jordan and the Bulls were really revolutionary in the sense that the NBA had always had championship teams led by big men down in the low post. All most every champion, if not all of them, had a legitimate superstar big man in the low post. You couldn't win without one, INCLUDING YOU, KOBE. Jordan was really the first guard to do it without a legitimate superstar big man down in the low block... Unless of course you consider Luc Longley a legitimate SUPERSTAR big man.
That's what I've always liked about the Bulls. They come into your building, beat you up, then run straight into the locker room after the final Buzzer.
I was not a bulls fans but I begrudingly respected them...I'm a laker fan and I was routing fo the KNICKS but those blocks on Charles Smith were clean as a whistle...that was backbreaking and the Knicks knew the series was over....PIPPEN made huge plays for that team that go unnoticed, he set that pick on the wing to create an open look for B.J. armstrong for that three point shot and...and JORDAN, dagger after dagger
Game six spurs Heat and this IMO were the greatest games ever played that I saw. This game was incredible. The bulls had alot of respect for NY. they got better every year. whoever won this game was getting a ring. The whole wold knew. Great game- MJ as God and PE 33 fighting till the end. Miss these bulls and loved these knicks man.
In today's game, the refs would call like 50 fouls on that last play. This is the NBA at it's peak.
4:08 how are you suppose to block that shot?

This is very comparable to LeBrons game 6 in Boston in 2012. Saved the series.
But wait I thought Jordan unlike LeBron doesn’t make the right basketball play by passing to the open player for the game winning shot 👀🤔

What a finish!
I remember those moments with Smith getting stopped at the end feeling like an eternity. The Knicks owned the Bulls inside.... what sweet poetic justice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
legendary game
I agree. even when they were down 0-2 in the series, I knew they were still going to win that series even though the odds were against them.
Along with 1999 finals game 6, 1993 finals game 3, this certainly is the most thrilling game I've ever seen. Precious memories, those times in this new Wimpy NBA, full of young clowns and spoiled brats will never be back again. Even though I hated Knicks, I respected them as a greatest rival.
that shot over ewing at 3:50. is sick. MJ guarded by center without any dribble or fakes just shot right over him
2:32.. just wow, pippen could really get up. Such a man's jam!
nothing better then watching Jordan in the Garden....."Ewing for Smith, Smith stripped Smith stopped Smith stopped again by Pippen" HaHa I thought I was gonna have a heartattack watching this on the edge of my seat....
In my opinion, all the MJ´s games Vs Knicks, were the best. I remember that sunday when Charles Smith jump and jump under the basket and then lost the ball... good video!.... I almost forget, the Al Pacino´s Look on P.Riley.. Go Knicks!
