Built Out of Building Waste, this Home is a Learning in Sustainable Architecture (Home Tour).

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

When Architect Vinu Daniel was approached by a travel aficionado to design a silent abode for him and his family, he couldn’t let the opportunity pass. Sitting atop the hilly landscapes of Kerala, this unique home is made to look natural, rugged, and brutal - like a hill itself.
A slanting wall defines the structure, metaphorically referring to the hand that shields one’s eyes from the harsh Western sunlight.
#MyGreatFacade is a series presented by Fenesta Windows in association with #buildofy
Extremely mindful of its context, the core of this structure lies in a patented construction technique that utilises building waste and the rocky terrain of Trivandrum hilltops. This sensitivity governs the temperature control, cross ventilation and the aesthetics of the traveller’s abode.

The shuttered debris walls, perforated aluminium sheets, and the quaint terrace are some highlights of the project. The Principal Architect narrates the design thinking and insightfully breaks down the layout and construction techniques that add charm to this sustainable home.

This is a truly amazing project! It is rare that you come across something completely novel in architecture, and even more rare that it is both highly functional and highly sustainable. I love the unusual shapes, the way natural light filters into the space, the aluminum mesh staircase, and the creative way construction waste was incorporated into the build. Hope this house gets more reviews, because it well deserves it!

We in India need more houses like this made with indigenous techniques which are best suitable for our environment, soil, climate and surroundings, instead of completely mimicking western techniques of building. Great work by Vinu Daniel and his team and the client who were supportive of his experiment.

Marvel. But it's a heartbreak when client is no more. As a true architect you always want the clients enjoying that space and you quietly observing that and feeling at bliss.

While it’s not what I would commission, I definitely appreciate the beauty and the technical innovation in this house. It is a masterpiece.

Not going into the emotional aspect of the emise of a client, the project, to me, looks like an abandoned factory in the middle of the forest. its too dark & gloomy. i wouldnt wanna live there.

@Ar Jasim he would if you'd spent the money. Fortunately, the house owners like what he built for them. You can build what you say with your money. In any case, who cares what you think.
