First major winter storm in California and I was there. Well, in Wrightwood that is. It was awesome to finally have a chance to stretch the legs with my build 1995 GMC Suburban and especially in the snow! Certainly can't wait to do some winter storm camping in this thing!

I have a 1996 1500 Suburban with 290,000 miles and running fine, been driving it for years. I wanted to say I just bought a 1999 with only 137,000 miles that I'm going to duplicate what you did with your Suburban. I can't afford to experiment with different tire combos and can only do it once so after watching your various videos I'm going to duplicate your mods on my truck. Thanks for putting all this info up. It's great to see what you've done and how well it works and looks also!

This video is Awesome on many levels one that is more prominent and the biggest reason why I love what you do especially in this video is because you show what it actually takes to be a KZread Creator and to get the best shots and the dedication that you put into it. I'm not going to blow smoke and say that this is my favorite KZread channel but you are one of my favorite KZread creators.
I'm two years late on this video but I just bought a extremely clean and unbelievably maintained 1994 Chevorlet Suburban K1500 4x4 I live in the salt belt and the truck is from Idaho with zero rust and still has the factory paint on the frame!...I love it!...it's the best truck I ever owned...I don't plan on putting in the terrible Michigan winters we have but I'm glad I see how yours performs in the snow!...I got a lot of catching up to do on your videos because I'm a new subscriber here but I'm glad there's a channel with someone who loves their Suburban as much as I do!...Cheers!...Nick from Michigan!

I am also a photographer. I used to take my 1990 Chevy single cab out in the mountains of Colorado. I slept in it several times as well as getting caught in several snow storms. I am in AZ now so I don't see snow anymore.
Awesome Suburban. Your truck makes me miss both my 1996 Suburban and 1998 Tahoe, which were great trucks. The lift kit you chose was perfect for this truck. Looks awesome with a rugged stance! Living in the midwest I am jealous of your rust free 1995! Keep up the Great Videos!
Love the truck.. sounds nice.. can't wait to see when u get more snow
Great video, boss! Great shots, the leaves shot looks amazing! And no, I don´t think you are a weirdo!
Still have my 1995 K1500 4WD Chevy Suburban...original owner with only 148k miles, still runs strong and in great condition. 10-12 mpg is a drag, though...been toying with a Cummins conversion.

My '97 'Burban with a 6" lift and 35" BFG KO2's on a 6" RCD lift has never let me down. Not built for crazy off-roading, but good for what I do. Not crazy about the IFS, makes it difficult to align, but replacing the 4" lift with a tall knuckle 6" RCD made a huge difference. Lots of KO2 haters, but they're the best all around on and off road tire I've found. Good off road, not too loud on the highway, great in the snow, and long tread life. I have them on all of my trucks, except my F-450. Wish it was a '95 so I could ditch the emissions and build the engine, but "stock" with exhaust and a tune has been good enough for now...
Very cool videos man. I have a 99 Tahoe 4x4 and I love it too! It is indestructible, handsome, reliable and very comfortable. I don’t think they make them like that anymore.

Nice. I own some land 5 miles from wrightwood. Planning on going up this weekend
Great macro shots. That is an often overlooked area in photography that when used can reveal some breathtaking shots. That is one good looking suburban. I have been looking for a 4wd pickup for a restore project but I think I am going to look for a suburban for the looks and extra cabin room. Nothing beats the older GMC's in snow. I spent a lot of time in the 70's and 80's snow plowing in them.
That suburban is mint! i have a 97 extended k1500 and its my favorite vehicle i ever owned except mines got some rust on it : /

Awesome video. I watch all of yours. I have a1995 GMC Yukon that I absolutely love!! I’ve had it ten years and VERY little work needed on it. Although this week I needed to replace the dreaded oil cooling lines. Lol. For a moderate budget what kind of shocks would good. My truck is 4wd also. But no lift. Thank you for all your great videos 👍

Advice: Put selectable lockers in front and rear. When the snow gets to about a foot deep or more and iced up....the suburby cuz of its size and weight will struggle bad. I do lotsa snow wheeling. Lockers and big tires are key in snow

Man I really like you truck. I've been really thinking of buying a TBI 350 powered suburban or Tahoe in the obs style. For the burb I have 92-95 options and Tahoe only 95. Just something about that body style and the TBI 350 that I've always loved. You should check out lytle creek this winter if we get any snow. It's a lot closer than wrightwood. On the 15 get off on Sierra in Fontana and just head up into the mountain until it ends. It can get busy up there but if you choose the right day and time you will be alone. Lots of camp sites to hang out at up there.

My experience is dont go on adventures by yourself in the snow with no jacket 😂
Questions to follow my intro: Hello. I’m actually working on a 97 K1500 Suburban VERY similar to yours. As of right now I think I identified most of the issues. The infamous fuel pump/bobber with my gauge left on E with a 42 gallon top off, leak in the coolant hoses leading to the heater core, small oil leak from the pan (might be a seal) worn u-joints , the ac compressor and finally, the exhaust system. I have already replaced the pulleys which made the thing sound so much better, salaveged an airbox from the same model out of a junk yard because the previous owner deleted it to give the filter that cool look (he used the wrong sized filter and screwed it into the air intake and hose clamped it for a fit (dear god why?) gave it new fluids (id’d leaks from doing that.) Whats next? Work on the identified flaws. Buy and install the 4L60E for fresh start on a new transmission to be safe. It has the original which has 260k on it. And the fun stuff: 4 inch lift, all terrain tires/rims, new headlight/taillight enclosures with led bulbs. Can you list which bulbs you used from the front to the read lights? Thank you. Keep trucking.
Thanks for the Great Videos 2 things I would recommend for you on the front end of your vehicles "Suburban" (Full Rack) "Ranch Hand" and "The Hornet" (electronic Deer Avoidance System) wildlife and domestic life can be a bad day if you hit it on the front end of your Vehicle/Suburban thanks again keep up the great work "Good Day" Bill

Good ideas. I do want some kind of custom bumper especially where I could mount a winch just not sure which one.
I really like the BFG tires also. I have run both mud and all terrain. I have ran other brands because of money and I'm back to BFG all terrain on our gmc 2500hd. The diesel engine has a lot of torque and it seems to tear up tires. But the BFGs are holding up decently.
Love snow
Put a drawbar hitch on the front of your rig . Off road and this bad weather have the proper electric wench mounted to a drawbar with you . If you get stuck plug it in either end of your rig and Walla , you don't need big foot tires anymore . Take Care

This video was Awesome! I felt like I was there and I wish I was. Your attitude is contagious. The 265/75R16s look great. I have a 1995 Chev Z-71 White Ext Cab with 305s. 265 is stock tire size for mine. Trying to decide to go 285 or 265 on mine but yours look perfect. Suggestion for a new video is how to confirm your 4wd is actually working before winter or hitting the trails. Sometimes I think mine is and sometimes not. Fronts will spin in mud but not always and not always same speed as rear? I’m looking for a good way to confirm 100%. I really enjoy your vids. I love the suburban. What is your highway mpg?
