    I'm glad you reminded people to remember to account for the thickness of the material, when I started working out the dimensions of mine I almost forgot, this is a good video.

    Great build, turned out really well despite that curly plywood! Petroleum jelly/vaseline is a good grease for use on wood.

    I have built a few years ago,they work great If I did another one ,it would be covered in formica first and then cut to size the formica would make the piston slide real real easy.I covered the pistol with shop rags and lubes the inside with car wax.

    That's it! I'm making that for my dirt-box forge! I was going to try building a crank blower out of wood (and I still might) but I'm definitely building this design first!

    Great instructions! I agree that the one way valves are better if glued. Staples in leather, which is acidic, will rust out eventually so the valves could fall apart.

    You will want one way valves on the outside of the tueyere holes to prevent the chance of sucking an ember in. Interesting way of going about it!

    Given the unifier on the side of the exit holes, there will only ever be positive pressure blowing outward to the tuyere, so there'd be no chance of that ever happening - that being said, this one is going to be hooked up to a long flexible aluminium hose that will go to a bottom blast forge! It's for one of my students.

    Very interesting, cheap and easy build Alex. And as you suggested this general concept could be adapted and built to any standard or size required, depending on the materials you have at hand or can afford. Thanks for sharing mate. Cheers Andy 👍⚒

    Thank you for providing such a great video an these bellows as it has allowed my wife and myself to produce a smaller version for the meat smoker that im turning into a charcoal forge im really looking forward to using this as i find that using electric blowers used a lot of electricity and the crank style are very expensive for someone on a limited budget i used marine ply that i had just sitting in my shed

    Hello, my wife built a modified blow beam for me and surprised me with it. My engines are all too weak and do not reach the right temperature that I need for forging. that really frustrated me. The fan is amazing, I'm really motivated to forge and try new things. We have affectionately called it "the mammoth" because it sounds like a roaring mammoth 😄

    Hi their i was trying to build a Japanese Fuigo, would really aprishade if you could share the measurements of the 2 critical dimension sticks that you used in the project, that would really help me in my project. thanks

  • @ValhallaIronworks

    @ValhallaIronworks

    3 ай бұрын

    The only thing critical about the dimension is that the hole it slides through matches the diameter of the stick! So you can use any diameter you want, so long as the material is strong enough to hold up to the strain, and then just make sure that the hole it slides through allows for nice, smooth movement.

    When you first said that there will be two exhaust or output holes, I was confused. Everything else worked logically, except those. My question would have been: why two holes? Why wouldn't there just be one? I couldn't really see why it would be an issue to just remove that center piece and have a single output. I decided to wait to see if I was wrong, and there was a reason to have both of them, but then you added that little union piece, and I'm just more confused why there were two holes to begin with, I don't see a reason for them. Even if that center piece was for strength or something, you could have two with holes in them that split the inner box into three sections, but since the separators will have holes in them, they could still have a single exhaust/output in the center of the side. I feel like making the two holes and the external union is just more work than making it with one output, and both (it would appear to me) would achieve the same goal, and you wouldn't have to sacrifice anything to do one or the other. If I'm missing something, please explain it.
