In the video I mention that I use ‪@avid.protools‬ as my main recording platform. It's simple and straight forward without a lot of clutter and things I don't need. It's cross-platform so it works on Windows and Mac. The pricing model absolutely leaves something to be desired, but if you're passionate about audio and can budget $599 for the perpetual copy or $299 a year for the subscription I recommend it.
‪@presonus‬ Studio One is your best overall bet on a Mac or PC. It's priced reasonably and it has a lot of amazing features and is evolving to be one of the most popular recording platforms on the market.
‪@Apple‬ Logic is a great all-around choice for Apple product users. You can get pro results with tons of great plug-ins all for a great price. You also receive free upgrades from Apple in the future. If you are a PC user, or if you work with bandmates or other people that have PC's you should probably stick to Pro Tools or Studio One.
‪@steinberg‬ Cubase is also a solid performer. They've included loads of cool features and plug-ins into the software. If you're a composer I may suggest that as the recording platform of choice along with MOTU Digital Performer.
‪@Ableton‬ Is a fantastic program for recording, but also working with dynamic and fluid live sound. The Clips feature is pretty innovative and with MAX for Live you can do all kinds of interesting things. Ableton as well as Cubase are both Cross-Platform as well so the type of computer you run doesn't matter.
