To get more storage out of the couch/floating bed you could take more of those drawer tracks and make drawers underneath the floating platforms. Just an idea I thought could be useful to you guys, love the build!

I've never seen anyone do a bed like that. Very clever, can't wait to see how it works out.

Drill a 1 1/2 hole in the front for handles and put piano hinges on the back of the plywood pieces so they open towards the windows. That keeps them in place and allows easy access to the storage area

We’re definitely doing piano hinges in the back of the plywood but we’re still undecided on how we want the “handle” to look on the front of each slide out

@@MilesOSmiles I actually meant a hole in the plywood for a finger hole to fold it up. Picture a cutting board. Twisted rope would make great pulls to extend the sections out. Drill 2 holes 5 inches apart feed the rope thru a tie knots in the back. That couch/bed is a great use of space. I may try to incorporate it in my build.

Nice work I did almost the samething in my first conversion but it was one 6 foot Piece of plywood that pulled out then wrapped the whole thing with batting and tapestry upholstery heavy duty fabric it last forever anyway buddy I like your idea making three separate pull outs great idea there. Keep up the great work young man it's really coming together and looking great.

Do you have any plans that you can share? I am still in demo phase so it will be awhile before I get this far.

With said sliding seats for a horseshoe table. How does it lock down so its not sliding when your sitting?

  • @MilesOSmiles

Great question! We’ll have some type of latches or locking system that locks them into the dinette so when sitting or sleeping they don’t slide around

How do yoiu keep the slides in the locked out position so the seat/bed doesn't slide back and forth?

Why not attach some straps to the latches and then you can pull the strap to open the door instead of reaching back behind?

  • @MilesOSmiles

The straps would still probably fall behind the fridge and require you to reach back. They also help seal the fridge so you need to be able to close them too. Overall, maximizing the length it pulls out will be better in the end so that’s what we’re trying first!

Instead of getting longer slides, why don’t you just drop the base to the floor level? That would give you the space you need.

  • @MilesOSmiles

Good thought Theresa! While it would give us a few inches of height, the fridge latches would still be awkwardly tucked under the drawer whereas the longer slides will get the fridge out from underneath the drawer completely and make access to everything in the fridge easier. We should be installing them today so we’ll see!
