Building the Tamiya Kawasaki KI 61 HIEN TONY IN NATURAL METAL
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Thank you for watching, We had a little problem with the film footage so this video is two model builds to show how the construction went on building this kit. For the viewers enjoyment I tried to edit it to make it look like one smooth build as best I could . This is why the cockpit is closed in the first part of the build but open in the end. THE MODEL AT THE END OF THE VIDEO WAS COMPLETELY MADE BY MY FRIEND MIKE REEVES. Mike painted the exterior with Alclad II and did the decals and weathering, but the original footage of the cockpit and body build was corrupted. so I took another kit and built that portion so you could see the plane go together. UP TILL 14:23 IS ALL MY WORK and the little part showing the decal demo. Mike also has stills of his build of the cockpit etc on his Facebook page, if your interested.
I had a few other errors with the original video, so I have corrected them the best I could and re-posting it. also please check out Mike's

Does this kit come with a pilot?

+ualuuanie Specifically, this one does. Traditionally, Tamiya 1/48 kits have always come with a pilot/and flight crew provided, e.g. '70's A6M3, J2M3 or '90's Ki-46 and G4M1which also include crew, which is one of the value added aspects about Tamiya kits I truly appreciate.

Could you also put the kit number with the builds? Often the manufacturers update the kits and this way we can see which version you are building. Many thanks for your valuable time is showing how you complete your kits.

Finally an aircraft! That's great. The tanks are pretty much the same it seems like. Great video. Love to see more planes...
Straight out the top drawer again Andy (and Mike too), thanks for sharing.
a great 'out of the box' build nice paint job. well done to both mike and you . look forward to the next aeroplane build
I am glad to see an aircraft build, as always top video and build, thanks for sharing .
I'm actually building Hasegawa's 1/32 Tony, and am at the painting stage myself but have been afraid to begin the metal layers. I've never actually done it before so a bit nervous, but I have been doing a lot of reading. Nice to see a video of it being done instead of just photos of after.
I'd love to see more plane models
Great looking Tony, Andy....you;re speaking my language when you build a plane! Cheers : )
Japanese planes have always been interesting to me.Great job
Haha, I'm glad to see it built. I remember you had some trouble with the black undercoat being pretty gritty. I'm glad you were able to save it from the dumpster!
This is a great video even with the problems you had and the model came out great too. I'm encouraged to do a metal finish after seeing it. If possible I'd like to see the painting of the canopy and how you guys attached it. Thanks and keep the videos coming!
Awesome job guys. Would love to see more aircraft in the future!
what a nice airplane!!just like always great video Andy!!
Great video
nice video Andy i really enjoy watching them i always been a plane guy however you turned me into tanks and now is so awsome to see you building aircraft i hope i get to see you building more aircraft peace out brother
Great tutorial. Thanks
One of my 3 favorite Japanese aircraft of WW-2. I always have to dig up pilot figures and convert the landing gear wheels up version. Can,t have a dogfight with wheels down and no pilot. Prefer New Guinea theatre of operations. Especially 68th and 77th Sentais.
I thought I was going a little crazy. I started watching this this morning, and went to watch the remainder when I got home, and it was gone!

Yeah had to change it up , but this will be staying up , thanks for watching
Great work! you actually took up an Japanese fighter that's a plus! Ki-61 is one of my favorite fighter both in real life and War Thunder. You may also like to take a look at the Ki-61 II, this one is truly one sexy fighter.
Thanks for building a plane, hope you'll consider doing more. I'm still waiting for part 2 of your car build lol
Man, aircraft paint paint schemes can be pretty intimidating!
nice model andy
Ever thought about doing a 1/16 scale tank. They take a while but are very cool models.
How did you buff out the simi gloss paint?
Looks like a nice build nice job

Thank you
Great build, enjoyable to watch as always. The bare metal looks fantastic - what were the decals sealed with so not to effect the metallic look?
Ok thanks for the tip and how would you be able to do a diorama of a crashed 1/32 spitfire on either a runway or in a field.
It's been years since I've done any modeling. But the one thing I always remembered was the the old school glue I used would wreck any paint it came into contact with. Is this newer brush on paint a better paint? I've seen numerous videos of guys using the brush on stuff and the paint still looks great!
I guess the comments from the original are gone? I wanted to know how the Tamiya decal solution compared to Walther's Solvaset? And...what did he buff the black paint with?
Please tell me you fixed those cockpit decals, they were way out of position!
what alclad paints were used for the different Aluminium panels?
another great video! would you consider doing a video solely on diorama construction? like wood type and size? also do you prefer sculpting putty or hydrocal for the surface?

I have some plans to do some more dioramas in the near future , my problem is space right now , thanks for watching
hello. great Job. Please can you show in a future vídeo how to apply the Tamiya Flat coat, because sone times it can look like dust or snow. Thanks.
Nice, I think you should do a diorama with modern armor sometime.
Superb video as always! Do you happen to have a playlist with the songs you use in the vids? I'd like to listen to them when I relax. ;)
😍
Andy, Is alclad, oil based or water sol?
Build the Tamiya spitfire mk1 please I'm about to build it and it would be great to see you do it
Curse you Andy from Andy's Hobby Headquarters! Once again you make me think I can complete an entire model kit in 23 minutes! ;) Just kidding, been a huge fan ever since subscribing and have learned a lot from your videos! looking forward to the next!
What color did you use on the cockpit interior? Love your channel, please do more aircraft.
whats the name of the music in the background
How much is this kit? Edit: please tell me the money type!
gosh i would prefer if they standardise the scale of the planes and tanks. all tanks should be 1 35 but planss varies by alot
No cammo?? :-(
What would you use for a ww1 trench diorama with shell holes filled with water
@AndysHobbyHeadquarters

I would most likely use Vallejo water , which I have and am going to use in the near future
I liked it better in the first video with the green mottling. Nice to see you tackle an aircraft for a change. I ditched my Alclads and use the new Vallejo metal paints now, just as good IMO and without the horrible smells and nasty vapours.
I hate it when you break the landing gear of your model plane
You put hungarian rasphody no.2 in there!
I feel bad watching this vid cuz I dnt even know where to start for painting modals...
i broke it on the first step:(
The Alclads are kind of problematic, but if you go and use the AK Extreme Metal paints or possibly Vallejo Metal paints, the result would be similar, but easier to achieve :-)
If you want more fun aircraft, you can try different more complex designed planes like a jet or somthing, this has few parts
First
Haha he said cockpit. And shaft.
