Building the Tamiya Kawasaki KI 61 HIEN TONY IN NATURAL METAL

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Thank you for watching, We had a little problem with the film footage so this video is two model builds to show how the construction went on building this kit. For the viewers enjoyment I tried to edit it to make it look like one smooth build as best I could . This is why the cockpit is closed in the first part of the build but open in the end. THE MODEL AT THE END OF THE VIDEO WAS COMPLETELY MADE BY MY FRIEND MIKE REEVES. Mike painted the exterior with Alclad II and did the decals and weathering, but the original footage of the cockpit and body build was corrupted. so I took another kit and built that portion so you could see the plane go together. UP TILL 14:23 IS ALL MY WORK and the little part showing the decal demo. Mike also has stills of his build of the cockpit etc on his Facebook page, if your interested.
I had a few other errors with the original video, so I have corrected them the best I could and re-posting it. also please check out Mike's

Does this kit come with a pilot?

+ualuuanie Specifically, this one does. Traditionally, Tamiya 1/48 kits have always come with a pilot/and flight crew provided, e.g. '70's A6M3, J2M3 or '90's Ki-46 and G4M1which also include crew, which is one of the value added aspects about Tamiya kits I truly appreciate.

Could you also put the kit number with the builds? Often the manufacturers update the kits and this way we can see which version you are building. Many thanks for your valuable time is showing how you complete your kits.

I'm actually building Hasegawa's 1/32 Tony, and am at the painting stage myself but have been afraid to begin the metal layers. I've never actually done it before so a bit nervous, but I have been doing a lot of reading. Nice to see a video of it being done instead of just photos of after.

This is a great video even with the problems you had and the model came out great too. I'm encouraged to do a metal finish after seeing it. If possible I'd like to see the painting of the canopy and how you guys attached it. Thanks and keep the videos coming!

One of my 3 favorite Japanese aircraft of WW-2. I always have to dig up pilot figures and convert the landing gear wheels up version. Can,t have a dogfight with wheels down and no pilot. Prefer New Guinea theatre of operations. Especially 68th and 77th Sentais.

It's been years since I've done any modeling. But the one thing I always remembered was the the old school glue I used would wreck any paint it came into contact with. Is this newer brush on paint a better paint? I've seen numerous videos of guys using the brush on stuff and the paint still looks great!

I liked it better in the first video with the green mottling. Nice to see you tackle an aircraft for a change. I ditched my Alclads and use the new Vallejo metal paints now, just as good IMO and without the horrible smells and nasty vapours.

The Alclads are kind of problematic, but if you go and use the AK Extreme Metal paints or possibly Vallejo Metal paints, the result would be similar, but easier to achieve :-)
