Let me know what you think of this style of video, I might start doing it more often. I also didn't show much of the 3D printed keycaps and that's because I plan on doing a dedicated video. The process isn't that complex but you do need to configure a few things to get successful prints.

Take this as just one opinion, not as opinion of your entire audience. I personally prefer the talking videos more. For me what's interesting is not perse the board itself, but the challenges you overcame and why you went a certain direction with it. This video could have been B-roll. Then again, if you like making these kinda videos more, go for it. I'd rather have more interesting videos like these, then none at all, because you've become burnt out with making the same type of videos.

@@SanderMakes Yeah, the plan would be to make more videos in more styles. So for example a full talking “explainer” video and then with footage from it I could make another cinematic.

@@gunjja13 pretty sure he uses monkeytype, you can do a lot of fun stuff with that.

We need a southpaw 100% with a space bar spanning the whole thing. Carbon fiber reinforced space bar with active stabilization

The one with the keycaps was 12 shots combined with a motion controlled slider. I’m really proud of that one.

Great video, but I think I prefer a bit of narration. I recently discovered your channel and am watching all of your videos. They are really helpful without belaboring the obvious. I am really excited about making my own hand wired keyboard. I would like mine to include some sort of track pad or track ball to use as a mouse. Have you given thought to this? (Sorry if one of your videos already covers this and I just didn't find it, yet.)

@@joe_scotto That would be awesome. In the meantime, I am researching this myself. I am thinking of using a tiny analog joystick and a wheel for pointing and scrolling. It seems very doable. Do you think one microcontroller could handle these mouse functions as well as the keyboard at the same time? (I know I could do it with 2, but would prefer not to.)

Really sick video and I imagine all the filming and editing took awhile lol. My only question is was the spring lube shot just for theatrics or do u normally put that much on the spring, cuz that was a lot of lube lol.

I normally don’t lube my switches but I saw recently something called “donut dipping” for the springs and decided to try it on this build. I think that’s a major reason why it sounds good as the spring/stem has like a dampener at the bottom to thicken it out.

@@joe_scotto i see i see, yea i think donut dipping like that is most likely fine. In my experience if u had spread that lube throughout the entire spring then it would have been sluggish but since u only did the bottom it turned out fine.

I have just as many questions as I did when I saw this video in my suggestions.

what is the point of this keyboard? it isn't even functional for a typist.

Mostly just because it looks cool but it actually still has all the functions of a regular keyboard. Most of the punctuation is on a layer when you hold spacebar then numbers are on another layer when you hold a different key. Nice video, but the keyboard looks unusable.

It’s actually surprisingly usable but I wouldn’t want to daily it. 34-keys is comfortable to daily but this 31-key layout has a lot of combos and tap dance keys that make it a bit of a pain.
