Building the Revell Resistance X Wing, D Day edition!

Please consider supporting me on Patreon - / steamgeezer
Today at Badgerworks, a little bit of fun. In the recent Millennium Falcon build, some folks were kind enough to point out that there wasn't a drop of RAF Dark Green in sight, so we decided to rectify that by re-painting the Revell Resistance X-wing in RAF colours.
This is by no means an original idea, lots of people have done it, but it was a bit of fun on a warm afternoon.

One of the most interesting airbrush videos I've ever seen. I particularly like the way you call out the paint mixes and airbrush configurations along the way, particularly useful if you want to have a go at copying the shading effects.

That different colored door panel is actually quite authentic to Star Wars and even in reality. Perhaps it was damaged or destroyed in battle and was replaced with a newer one which might be a different color and wouldn’t have the wear and tear as the rest of the ship.

An excellent use for a meh kit. I've actually thought about doing something similar with an old FineMolds X-wing I have in the closet. Always been a fan of custom color schemes. But goodness, that kit makes me extra grateful that we have Bandai now.

Cheap is good. I often go that route myself since I'm on a fixed income. And scratchbuilding is quickly becoming my favorite part of modelling. But I can heartily recommend Bandai's SW kits. Between the level of detail and parts fit they're an absolute joy to build. And best of all (to me at least) they come in standard scales.

This Space frame must be considered to be a Bomber as it is still in Brown/Green colour scheme and Invasion Tactical markings date it to mid 1944... Green/Grey with Yellow on the leading edges of the “wings” would have marked this out as a post 1940 fighter paint scheme I guess.....nice project.
