Very enjoyable to watch! Will be here for the next video 👍🏼
keep up the content man, loving this build
You mentioned not needing to measure your shims at around 17:45. That is pretty important as you wan the surface of your rocker arm to be parallel to the surface of your camshaft. Having a skewed rocker will lead to vibration and premature wear. Hope it has been holding up fine.
great content. cant wait to see this baby put down some serious numbers.
So Underrated Channel ! Really like the content Keep it going. ❤️
great content bro! I'm learning sr20det and this is the perfect video 👌👌
I've been watching SR20 build videos lately as I recently acquired a '77 Datsun 620 and this will be my motor swap of choice. That being said, very nice work on the narration and editing! I don't know how you're getting anything done in the shop while wearing a watch though!
Awesome video keep up the good work
Nice detailed video👍
Tip for the future, for the portion where you are dropping the nuts onto the studs and you found yourself in a precarious balancing act with the nuts, you can purchase bee’s wax and then push your socket into it so it will help the nuts stay in to socket, but it won’t leave anything hazardous because it will just burn off!

I just use a little dab of assembly lube, mines thick enough to keep a bolt but have to re apply every fee nuts. May use the beeswax next time though

Mad dog keep the content up my guy
Hell yeah! Just bought my first SR. It was completely taken apart from previous owner. Missing alot of stuff but I'm super excited for it and after watching this I really can't wait to get started on it.. downside I live in the states so parts are gonna be really hard for me to get :(

@@JackPanozza hey whats is the cost to build a sr20 10second ?
Good video bro keep it up
Great vid you going to show the fuel rail setup up next?
Doing the same to mine almost exactly the same build except a 660 here, what lines and fittings did you use for your turbo? I don't wanna go back and forth buying shit til I find a decent fitment for the oil feed off the turbo. Also you can slide the chain around the intake cam if you don't bolt the cam down first. I reckon you should go into more detail even if other people have done it before so people find your videos the most technically sound and maybe pick up on things other have left off. Keep it up mate, subbed!
You need specific exhaust silicone for hot side normal silicone can catch fire as it's not heat rated for exhaust temperatures
w videos as always
☝🏾❤️🤙🏾
The marked links do some back up every 12 or something rotations
Should be alright but best to hold the cam shaft when tightening the cam sprocket bolts so you don't damage the timing chain. Sick vid tho keen for more.

Had no spanner that would fit so just had to do it that way unfortunately, thanks man!
Dual rocker guides and no rocker arm stoppers, my man! You sure this is your first time putting an sr together? lol. Building almost the same sr going together right now but its an s13, cheers bud!

haha nice man! I've watched so many videos that I learnt everything not to do lol
Did you do any porting or polishing on the head?
Did ur chain not skip when u put gasket? 10:56 it looks like u let the chain go down for a moment?
Never seen silicone go on intake manifold.
Guys I have a sr20de roller rocker is it a good idea to boost it motor is bone stock I got myself a sr20det turbo setup to fit on
😍
I am interstate SR..20..engen l love to your projet .........Thank you...
Hey Jack, soon to start building an SR20VET VVL Neo and was wondering who you used for machining? I'm south side. Cheers.

I'm on the Gold Coast, I went to Precise Engine Builders.
Also just a side note, i can help with editing like sounds and other things
I have a pretty similar setup in my car. Its making 450hp at 19psi on a GTX3071
@Chuchbaby

For that turbo I'd think you'd need to run less boost to make that power I have a gtx2971r I wonder how much boost I'd need for 450 also 9.1 compression ratio but it's a pretty serious build
do you have any suggestions for where I can get the English sr20det engine service manual guide? I found the pdf for the s14 200sx. trying to find the book for the older sr20det engines...

unfortunately there isn't an English version of the non vct engine repair manuals available. Until someone takes the time to translate the Japanese one we will have to use the vct version. almost everything to do with engine assembly is identical though!

Yes!
Perfect video with a good explanation on every step! How much did the short block set you back roughly at the engine builders?

Thank you! I spent about $2000AUD to get the crank grinded/balanced, block bored/decked/honed and assembled, and the head refreshed. That doesn't include any of the actual parts.
square intercooler in the battery tray is a bit aids asides from that very nice build

Yeah the car came with that already unfortunately, and I want to keep the battery upfront so I just left it. If i line it with something should't be too bad.
Hey I'm new to the Sr world... noticing the motors are slightly tilted forward and have a predominant lean towards drivers side. I'm swapping this motor into a different vehicle. I understand the motor needs a pitch to front because of the oil pump. But what's the side tilt? Would it effect the motor if I leveled it with a front ward pitch? Or are there oil galleys that have a need for the sidepitch?
Does your g25-550 have any lag?
When you installed the tensioner did you skip any teeth? When checking if your timing was correct
@JackPanozza
2 жыл бұрын
no it didn't skip any
How much did the engine build cost?
you need to move to a dry sump my boi
How much power you thinking
So your stock bores we're 86mm, and you're now 86.5mm? I'm about to do the same thing. 4th cyl as well. I'm also going with CPs, are you having piston slap? Or is that a stupid myth I shouldn't be worried about? What size head gasket did you get? 1.5mm? And what bore size on the gasket? 87mm?
@JackPanozza
Жыл бұрын
Definitely no piston slap if you get the right pistons and it's machined correctly, and neever heard of it happening to be honest. I went 1.2mm headgasket 87mm bore

@@JackPanozzahey bro! So update. I finished my SR not long after this original comment. It ran sooo good, but I ended up with an engine building bug. I've just finished my HKS stroker 2.2 kit in another block, and a mazworx VE head. It's 500 miles old and it's absolutely brutal.

"Building an SR20 the same way folks have done it for the past 20 years" is the real title. I mean, if you're going to be pretentious enough to think this is "perfect", at least do something new or different.
