Building the Perfect $2,000 Watch Collection - Over 20 Watches Mentioned

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

After the positive feedback of my previous video looking at building the best watch collection for $1,000, I wanted to continue this series looking at 7 different options one can take when building a collection for this budget amount. Given the number of watches in these ranges there is no way that I will be able to cover all potential watches in the range, so leave comments below about what watch(es) you would buy with $2,000 to spend.

    Hey Teddy, thanks for doing this. I liked your presentations. I just signed up for your newsletter too. I'm a relative noob so I'd like to know more about the watches you recommend that make them worthwhile. Some brand have a special feature, such as IWC's fast moving hands when changing time. It would be fun to see what proprietary features there are for certain brands. I think it would also be fun to watch an episode on watches that tend to increase in value over time and/or increase in interest/demand. Keep up the great work.

    Teddy, these “perfect x watch collection” videos are amazing, thank you for these. I get a great introduction to models and even makers I’d never heard of. Do you have a recommendation for a modern automatic watch that would be an homage to an Explorer or Air King, other than an actual Rolex? Something in the 34-36mm size? Tons of options at 40mm, but I’m starting to really appreciate more traditional sized watches, and I just can’t find anything, other than going vintage, or just to Rolex themselves, which can be mildly obnoxious.

  • @RedwoodAggie
    @RedwoodAggie4 жыл бұрын

    Wow, great selection, Teddy! I've never agreed with such a high percentage of your choices, and your reasoning behind them was very well thought out. I also like the swapping out colorways you did in some cases (i.e. Doxa) in the graphics. Very slick. For $2K, I'd go Doxa Sub 200, Hamilton Khaki Pilot (the one from Interstellar), and a Timex Marlin Automatic. I already have my eye on the Doxa (please do a review on it) and Hamilton. Dress watches aren't high use for me, so a dress watch isn't my top priority at the moment.

    Hi Teddy! Loved the video and per your suggestion I would like to add my two cents. I am the kind of extremes type guy, by which I mean I like my very presentable dress watch to wear in the office, but I also like my adventure / diving watch to be hard as nails. So my two options: dress watch - Junghans Max Bill date automatic for USD 1.200 or there about; and Seiko King Turtle SRPE05, to which would add a bracelet to bring the price up to USD 800. That makes it USD 2.000 on the dot and also makes me a very happy persona (as you say). All the best!

    Hey Teddy, you are the first reviewer I’ve seen to mention the Seiko SRPB39 “Zen Garden”. This is one of my favorite watches - another being the SRPB41 which is a stunning midnight blue version. The dials are very impressively done, as are the high polished indices with a frost-like texture on top. The handsets are elegant with polished hour and minute hands and a blue second hand (on the white dial 39) and the 3 bright white hands on the blue one (41). Plus domed sapphire crystals, butterfly clasps, gilt rotors, and beautifully high-polished cases make these 2 watches favorites of mine. The use of the 4R movement is a little bit of a let-down perhaps, but is consistent with the new and more expensive Alpinist models.

    I'm digging the updated online store. I was wondering why the store had so few straps when I checked a few weeks ago, but I definitely wasn't expecting this. Big moves my man 💪. I might have to pick up a Junghans when I have a bit more money.

    Feels good to see the 104 as the one watch collection as that's why I'm going to buy it for as well. I will have other watches but my Sinn 104 will be my everyday, "gada" watch.

    Thanks! Great video and lots of great choices! Always good to see Christopher Ward get some attention - I'm a fan.The Trident is a great watch. Also - (partially because of your moonphase video, so you share some blame here!) - I'm awaiting delivery of a blue C. Ward moonphase as I type this. Thanks again!

    I love these videos! This is the reason I am on the lookout for a white Sinn 104. I’m looking for just a 2/3 watch collection and currently my budget is 2k so the white 104 is perfect for me. Would you opt for the fine link bracelet or just the leather band?

    Hi Teddy. I am new watch enthusiast. I really appreciate you not taking any sponsors. Maybe you have done this already but I am interested in everyday watches or perhaps you would call the beaters. Something that looks nice but if it gets scratched, there is no need to fret.

    Excellent vid.Awesome watches,plenty of choices. For $2000 I would buy 6 to 8 fantastic Seiko’s. With most of them being Quartz. That’s more for your money. And this is how I ended up with about 60 watches for around $5000. I consider 80% of my watches disposable other than replacing a battery. I have a heck of a lot of fun searching for these watches and getting the best possible price. I often find watches for under $200 that most people pay $300 or more. Like a lot of things ,the fun is in the chase. Thanks Teddy. SEIKO IS KING !!!
