Building the FAB 1 pink Rolls Royce from Thunderbirds - Part 14. Time for Parker and Lady Penelope!

It's time to try and make Parker and Lady Penelope to sit in the car. I hope things work out a bit better than when I first tried this technique!

Love the fact that you scratch build everything yourself, I would love to be able to do stuff like this but I have as much skill and knowledge with computers and software as I do with advanced brain surgery, so I usually end up with a block of Super Sculpey and sculpt it myself. This 3D printing lark is something I wouldn't mind looking into. Fab1 is looking damn fine, you do an excellent job of these models in big scales. Love it !

Thanks very much. The learning curve for 3d printing is not too bad. Computer aided design is another matter!

Very good .I'd of been more worried and found making the figures harder than making the rest of the car .

Yes, they are tricky. Mine are certainly not world class but they have a certain character!

Awesome👏👏 there is a 1/6 lady Penelope figure obviously the cost of purchase and scanning head sculpt etc Parker is spot on once again though just fantastic scratch building

Yes, and there’s also the English Classic Porcelain studio scale version. That would be the best one for scanning. Thanks for the comments.

Thanks very much. I’ve taken a little break from FAB 1 whilst I work on the model boat. But the next phase is very challenging because it will involve the canopy.

I reckon you've made a very good of them both. Their hair might be flattened just slightly but they are very convincing. Parker's features in particular really capture the old rogue!

Hi Peter, Lady P and Parker really set the FAB1 off, just looking at Parker's hair, and wondered if you have thought of putting some hair wax on to calm/smooth his hair down a bit, might work, try some on an odd bit first maybe, can't wait to see how you tackle the glass canopy

I might give that a go (or I was thinking of hair spray). But when I’ve made his hat, it should be less noticeable.

@@modellingmisadventures are yes of course, hair spray may work, when I did my puppet, i damped it down with water and let it dry, but it was alpaca hair, so water may take better, either way a hat should work I reckon, i need to have a go at that 3d modelling from photos at some stage, but loving this FAB1 build, nice size too, keep up the great work. Considering how much effort was involved in getting a 3d image I can't help wondering if it might be time to look at a 3d scanner. Parker looks fantastic but yeah Lady Penelope still needs a little something. I think it's her eyes. I don't know if you feel the same way but when I finish a long drawn out project, after so much time, thought and effort invested in it, then suddenly, one day it's finished. And while you feel proud of the achievement, suddenly, for a while at least, there's that empty feeling of not having any reason to go into the workshop today. I don't build stuff, I restore, and that's how I feel every time a project is finished.

I have to agree. I’m not happy with Penelope’s eyes either. I’ve already had two goes at them but I may have to try again. As for projects, I usually have more than one on the go so there’s always something waiting after each one is finished. At the moment I have four projects on the go - FAB 1, Routemaster bus, RC boat and 3D printed Morris Marina van!

It would need a lot of work. The files I made needed extensive sanding to get them to the right shape. However, I am now attempting to learn Fusion 360 so who knows, I might be able to create a proper one in the future!
