This is a lovely book nook modelled around a 1940s first class train cabin. This video shows the whole construction from start to finish.

That's absolutely beautiful and with the motor running it kind of even sounds like actual train sounds. Kudos for putting it together so nicely and kudos to the manufacturer of the kit.

excellent, thanks for sharing the video. The design and manufacture does indeed look very cleverly thought out. I would be tempted to upgrade it by using a small LED screen in the back with some video rather than the scrolling paper, but the leather and gold metal film looks superb indeed

I'm having trouble with the scene running smoothly, but I used a bit of transparent tape instead of glue. It runs, but sporadically, as if the train was stopping and starting suddenly. I think I'll redo it and try your glue-on-a-toothpick method. I'm about ready to put everything all together, so I need to make sure that part works smoothly and correctly before proceeding too much further. Thanks for this!

I tested it multiple times before I installed the motor section. I also used some silicone spray lubricant on the gears to make it run smoother. Hope you get yours working properly.

Is it beginner friendly? I never done anything like this, but absolutely love it!

It should be OK if you really take your time and follow the instructions carefully. Getting the rotating backdrop to work is the trickiest part. Make sure you test it well before adding it to the cabin.

How do you put the clue on the rubber band in step 2?

Just put it on directly, either on the band or the shaft.
