#Scratchbuilding #ScaleModel #RatRod
Today at Badgerworks, we take the AMT 1940 Ford and start transforming it into a rat rod we're calling the Freedom Ford, for reasons that will become apparent. In this first of three videos, we start with creating the rot and rust that will be a key feature of this build.

I love the creativity in your builds. So many channels focus on showroom looking cars but this type of build highlights the ingenuity of the builder to create such realistic looking decay.

Instead of Tinfoil to cover the seats for the effect of rips and tears. You could have used paper towel, split it so 1 ply from the multiply. PVA and water it to the seat, then rough up and even tear it, might give a better effect

Some handy hints for the seats👍. There are kits of sedan type bodies made by amt or revell, though,if you want to build another👍I think it's a magneto on that engine, not a distributor🤔. Thanks for showing and best wishes from jolly old Norfolkshire 👍😎Pete 🤓

I was amused that the drill came with three burs. A mummy bur, daddy bur and baby bur.

Put a wig on Steamgeezer and he could have Goldilocks and the three burrs.

Looks very good and some great techniques I'll remember and hopefully use at some point. I like the idea of the sandpaper destressing, it would probably work as well if you were to make a car with vinyl roof effect if you masked out the edges to make some crispy borders.

I believe it would, yes. I'd go for a fairly aggressive grit for that, maybe 60 or even 36 grit.

Wrapping the steering wheel and wondering why, halfway through is so Frieburger that I was nearly laughing. Detroit didn't really start putting soft dashes in until the mid-60s. We had an American Motors Rambler Ambassador with a metal dash. The next car a 67 Plymouth Belvedere wagon had a soft vinyl dash.

I'm only 5mins in and Yay SGaS is modelling again, to be watched, in bits as I misread 1 hr bit and only saw 21mins, and mojo loss is b*t*h. If you have other seat projects could you not cast resin ones or scan and print copies ( I'm sure I've seen/mention you having the tools to do one or t'other)
